Most popular on your campus
Here's a question for all you Greeks out there. Which sororities/fraternities are most popular on your campus? By popular I DON'T mean the one everyone thinks is the coolest or whatever, I mean as far as membership goes, which has the most members etc? If you come from a large campus, please name the top 5 membership in your opinion.
Im curious because I've seen a lot of difference from campus to campus. IE, at one XYZ will be the most popular, but that same XYZ won't be at another. Also, after you post your five, can you say WHY you think those five are the most populated? |
I forgot to mention mine:
Chi Omega Delta Delta Delta Alpha Kappa Alpha Alpha Phi Gamma Phi Beta I think the reason Chi O and TriDelt are so popular with incoming rushees is that they're the most well known nationally. AEPhi is probably one of the lesser joined. |
Sorority:
That is a hard one. I belive Phi Sigma Sigma is the biggest with AEPhi and SDT very very close behind them. Fraternity: 1. Sigma Phi Epsilon 2. Tau Kappa Epsilon 3. Sigma Tau Gamma 4. Phi Kappa Tau 5. Phi Sigma Kappa |
There are only 4 fraternities and 4 sororities on my campus:
Fraternities: 1. Lambda Chi Alpha--most active members 2. Tau Kappa Epsilon--great guys! 3. Phi Sigma Kappa--really growing in numbers 4. Alpha Chi Rho--I think is local, but not sure--mostly made up of athletes Sororities: 1. Alpha Sigma Tau--Most active members 2. Sigma Sigma Sigma--probably ties with AST in active members 3. Delta Zeta--my sorority--I'd say the most diverse--lots of alum involvement 4. Phi Sigma Sigma--just got their charter several years ago, were local, gaining membership rapidly This is based on when I was in school--which was over 2 years ago, so I would say that these figures could very well be wrong. |
Here's how it breaks down at my school, which has one of the top three largest Greek systems in the country (according to the statistics compiled by GreekUSA and others). There are several sororities that could vie for the biggest--numbers change from year to year--but I think the top 5 biggest would be something like:
Delta Delta Delta Kappa Alpha Theta Kappa Kappa Gamma Alpha Gamma Delta Sigma Delta Tau These sororities probably have 150-160 members each, but there are others that probably have close to 150. As far as the biggest fraternities go: Alpha Tau Omega (the biggest--they're the football player house) Zeta Beta Tau (one of the 4 Jewish fraternities on our campus) Sigma Chi (popular nationally) Phi Delta Theta or Lambda Chi Alpha (also popular nationally). But Acacia, Beta Theta Pi, and Sigma Alpha Epsilon might be ranked up there too. I graduated 4 years ago, so I can't be 100% sure. Pi Kappa Alpha was the second biggest after ATO's until they got kicked off campus for a couple of years. They were seen as a "preppy" house--the sororities loved them because they were good looking and most of them came from rich families. Interesting note a |
Hipchic- If we're going to take a narrow view then, I've heard in Wisconsin that many of the houses are very large and that you're view of which house is popular depends on whether you're an East-Coaster or someone from the Mid-West. And Apparently your religion too. So I suppose that sororities such as Alpha Epsilon Phi, Sigma Delta Tau, and Alpha Phi would be popular with those among the "jewish community" seeing as they are originally Jewish founded sororities. While, Alpha Chi Omega, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and Gamma Phi Beta would probably tend to draw people from other communities. I guess then that their popularity can be judged more by what you prefer. Kind of like a Gucci bag to a Kate Spade.

At Arizona State University the largest sororities are
1. Delta Gamma 2. Alpha Phi 3. Kappa Alpha Theta 4. Chi Omega 5. Alpha Delta Pi These are the five biggest sororities on campus. All of them are completely different personalities. The top 5 Fraternities that you hear good stuff about are 1. Delta Sig 2. Kappa Sig 3. Theta Chi 4. Sigma Nu 5. Sigma Chi There are 17 fraternities and 11 sororities on campus. What are the reputations of particular sororities at Ole Miss?
|
At University of Florida it's TriDelta, ChiO, DG, Theta, and Zeta.
Fraternities it's SigEp, ATO, Sigma CHi, PiKapp. |
This thread has been up and down a million times, but once again- here is Western Kentucky University-
There are seven sororities and eleven fraternities (unless SAE gets to come back next year that makes twelve fraternities) Sororities (NPC) Kappa Delta- Wins greek week, most members, strongest alum support. I love the KD chapter here. Chi Omega- 2nd Largest, but you don't see many of them. They are exclusive with one or two fraternities for the most part. They do well during rush but if you aren't in one of those two fraternities they don't do much with you (including sororities) Alpha Delta Pi- Probably have about 90 members or so, (Chapter total here is 95) They are known as the most beautiful girls on campus and win all the pageants, but that is about it. Again, they are exclusive to one or two fraternities. Alpha Omicron Pi- Has about 80 members, they are in the middle of some reorganization. They have some internal problems, but they are getting better every year. I like some of their newer sisters. TIE- Phi Mu and Alpha Gamma Delta- We have about the same numbers. Phi Mu has some big problems on our campus. A lot of the fraternities don't want to mix with them because they have a rep for running every other girl off. They also have a problem with retention (they lose more members every year than all the other chapters here combined). Not a strong chapter, but it all started four years ago when their treasurer stole money from them. They didn't win any panhellenic awards. AGD- Won the most panhelllenic awards with 6 out of the 8 and came in 3rd during greek week. We have really grown the past few years and have a strong sisterhood. We also have a lot of activities with some of the largest fraternities on campus. Very diverse and also very selective. Sigma Kappa- Their numbers are climbing after a some major problems. I think they have around 40 members. Their sisterhood is improving and they are starting to get quality not quantity girls. I hope they do well, but I know they are losing their house in the next year because they rent it and that may hurt them. Fraternities- Farmhouse- Okay I am biased, but these are the guys you want to bring home. They are really nice, gentleman, who are very active on campus and have one of the best brotherhoods. You never see a Farmhouse man alone, they are always together. Plus they beat AGR for Greek Week and they got the most Improved chapter award this year. Phi Delta Theta- They are nice guys . Very diverse and open. They will let anyone into their parties and like to have fun. The boys next door kinda deal. Pi Kappa Alpha- they have the most members, but one of the worse reps. They are exclusive to one or two sororities and they don't do much on campus with other greeks. They are pretty boys. Since SAE was kicked off for a year they pretty much took over with the rich pretty boy rep. Lambda Chi Alpha- probably my second favorite fraternity. They have great guys, lots of diversity, some of the best parties and are cute. These are the guys most of the sororities want. Sigma Phi Epsilon- They are doing better with rush and get some good members. For the most part they are really active on campus but none of the sororities like them because they have a history of stabbing those who help them in the back. From here on out it is pretty much a tie: Sigma Chi, Sigma Nu, AGR, Delta Tau Delta, and KA don't really do much with anyone. They have mixers and that is about it. Although KA and Sigma Chi do well during rush. Kappa Sig just got its charter back this year and they are rebuilding. A lot of their guys hang out with a lot of my sisters, but they still don't have quality quite yet. |
Sororities:
Alpha Phi Sigma Sigma Sigma |
On my campus:
Tri Sigma- Win greek awards have a strong sisterhood have about 120-150 members. Phi Mu- Won the Presidents cup this year (based on activity within the university etc)-the highest honor in our greek awards as well as a whole host of other awards. Alpha Omicron Pi- they won a few awards at greek awards not exactly sure about how many members they have but they are pretty close to Alpha Sigma Alpha who has around 50 members. Alpha Sigma Alpha (my sorority) we are pretty visible and well known on campus as previously stated we have about 50 members 53 to be exact. Strong sisterhood we used to be a local called Kappa Delta Sigma but now we are a colony soon to be a chapter of Alpha Sigma Alpha. I'm not exactly sure about fraternities other than that in my opinion Theta Chi is one of the best fraternities the very best on our campus Go Theta Chi! |
Not this thread again...
|
Small and weak greek system.
1. STG 2. SP 3. PKA (suspended) 1. DZ-23 new girls last formal rush 2. ZTA-13 new girls last formal rush 3. AXD-8 new girls last formal rush |
there's a lot of fags on our campus, and they all seem to join Phi Kappa Psi.
1) Phi Kappa Psi 2) Phi Sigma Kappa 3) Triangle 4) Sigma Pi Sorrorities well the only ones we have on campus are: Zeta Tau Alpha, Delta Phi Epsilon, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Alpha Xi Delta, and Sigma Sigma Sigma. not sure how they rank in size and prominance, But I hea about Zeta more than any of the others. |
Sororities
Alpha Delta Pi Zeta Tau Alpha Zeta Phi Beta Fraternities Pi Kappa Alpha Phi Beta Sigma |
Well let's see at my school which has a fairly weak greek system we've got
Sorors: Alpha Phi: they are actually the biggest,(with maybe 30 or 40 girls) but only because they bid just about everyone who shows up to a party. They are very very great girls, but kinda known in the greek community as the party girls. Alpha Gamma Delta: I think they are second biggest with I think membership in the high 20's. They are the ones a lot of the girls want to get a bid from during rush, they are known as perky and a bit materialistic/stuck up. Only a few of their girls are like that however, most of them are super nice. Phi Sigma Sigma: MY SOROR !!! I think we are kinda the middle road between A phi and AGD. Our sisters are laid back, like to have a good time, but also take our sisterhood very seriously. One of the fraternity guys once told me phi sigs are the girls you take home to meet the family. |
At my school
At Virginia Tech the best sororities are:
Tri-Delt DG Alpha Phi DZ KD The best fraternities are: Pike Sigma Chi Sig Ep SAE Theta Chi Delta Chi |
If you followed your heart and pledged the sorority or fraternity where you felt you found your home, that is "the best" one. Every member should feel his or her chapter is "the best," simply because it is "the best" fit for him or her. That pride should show in how you represent your organization.
