Anyone catch The Bachelor on Monday night?

Maybe I'm just a sucker for reality shows, but I really liked this one! Now, I'm hooked! :p It's also pretty cool because the bachelor's from my hometown :).

ZTAMichelle 03-27-2002 11:57 PM

He's from your hometown? He is some peice of eye candy. And the girls aren't lacking in the looks department either. I though the whole rose ceremony at the end when he was picking who continues on was half romantic half disgusting. The feminist side of me thought it was a bit degrating. I def. will keep watching tho since I'm a sucker for that stuff. As long as no one is eating anything gross or alive I'll watch Reality TV.

Periwinkle 03-28-2002 12:39 AM

Barffff!!!!

If you did a "B" movie making fun of a tasteless, brainless, witless bachelor it would look like him. What girl would even think of getting involved in marrying some guy (or even pretending she wanted to) that she barely new and then threw herself in public to get.

You talk about self-degrading....geesh.

Hey ZTA Michelle! Yes, he lives in my hometown -- San Francisco, California. I thought the shots of The City were amazing (in the first few minutes of the show, they showed him around the streets of SF and him riding a cable car. Also, there were shots of a sunset in SF around the "Painted Ladies" -- those famous Victorian Houses...the TV show "Full House" was filmed in one of those "Painted Ladies.").

Didn't you guys think that the part with the roses was a bit cheesy? I was like, "Geez." I also felt so badly for the blonde girl who was crying b/c she wasn't picked.

Periwinkle -- Yeah, I also thought it was mighty brave/ridiculous for him to meet his "future wife" on this show, and equally stupid for a woman to marry him just on the basis of this show, but I have to admit that this show is addicting!

I'd love to see the female version of this show -- "The Bachelorette." Now THAT would be awesome! (25 yummy-looking guys!)

LeslieAGD 03-28-2002 10:12 AM

I have a night class on mondays so I was only able to catch the end, but I thought it looked interesting. The scenes for upcoming episodes looked good too...can everyone say "catfight"? :)

XO_Princess 03-28-2002 01:58 PM

Oh yes, I watched it-I always get sucked in to these kind of shows-no matter how much I swear I won't watch !! But I did roll my eyes everytime a girl was like-I came here to meet my dream man and I'm going to marry him, etc.. barf barf!!

Peaches-n-Cream 03-28-2002 04:35 PM

I didn't watch it, but I've seen the commercials. He's a hottie. The concept seems to be a less cheesy version of "Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire?" to me. The goal of these shows is to win a marriage to a man that these women have just met. I guess he's the prize.

Hootie 03-28-2002 04:52 PM

I also didn't watch it but have to say that it'd be interesting to see how everything turns out. From what I hear he doesn't have to propose to any of them and they don't have to accept his proposal either. So that's good!

GreekLetterGirl 03-28-2002 06:44 PM

I have never even heard of this show and it sounds interesting what channel and when is it on?

CutiePie2000 04-23-2002 02:28 PM

Okay, who is going to tune in on Thursday for the Season Finale?
I know this is such TV trash, and yet it is like a car accident!
I just can't look away! LOL!

So who do y'all want Alex to choose?
Amanda? or Trista? My vote is with Trista, myself! :D

What was the deal with the plastic sheet  and chocolate sauce with Amanda? KINKY!....It was strongly hinted that they got it on....
http://www.plaudersmilies.de/knuddel.gif

IowaHawkeye 04-23-2002 03:29 PM

youre so right... it is such trash but we are all addicted here - lol!

i am sooo sooo sooo glad he got rid of shannon - all she did was act like a jealous girlfriend the whole time - she knew the premise of the show, she knew there would be other girls alex would be seeing, kissing, and spending time with - there is no need to be acting all territorial with him. plus, she got mad at him for asking simple questions and when he wanted to talk about things people in a relationship talk about - if youre going to be with someone you have to be willing to give all of you, the bad/good, the restrictions and the limitations to them - just lay it all on the table. thats why i like trista a lot. she told him up front, i'm in like with you, but i don't love you yet. and honestly, i don't see how she could be in love - they've only had 3 dates and he's been spending time with so many other girls. she's taking it slow and letting him know there's barriers, but one by one, together theyre breakingthem down... amanda... yeah, not much to say on her  she seemed all to eager to jump in bed (yet so did he with that whole sex in a plastic sheet dessert) - i wonder what would have happened happened with the whole room had alex not been lying on his sick bed....

LeslieAGD 04-23-2002 04:21 PM

I'm interested to watch the reunion part were the women talk about the experience...can we say bitch fest? hehe

GreekLetterGirl 04-23-2002 04:32 PM

I love that show, I am so torn because the Bachelor and Survior are on at the same time !! My one sister and I are totally adicted to each and every reality TV show!!!

UofISigKap 04-23-2002 04:35 PM

I'm adicted. I kinda want to see Amanda win because the other women were all saying she was too young and blah blah blah...she's my age, so I just could relate though. Not that I would have put myself in her place at all. It's just not my thing to compete for a guy on national tv. However, I do think the better match is Trista. She is just real with him. From the commercials it looks like he will propose even though he doesn't have to. He does keep mentioning lines like, "her stunning beauty...she's hot." I'm sure their kids will be impressed when they watch the reruns on tape. :p

I was thrilled when Shannon got the boot. He was asking basic relationship questions, and she just was too much! The fighting all the time, and for goodness sakes, anyone could see that he was at least trying to work it out with her. He did keep her for the round after she was cold toward him the last one. He even got rid of the cameras, even though I betcha the producers of the show were pretty mad about it.

Would anyone here want to be on the show? I don't think I would mesh with him, so I'm out.

Oh and the next one is looking for more bachelors...I don't see any of "The Bachelorette" in the furture. Such a shame.

Shelacious 04-23-2002 04:57 PM

Shannon...

Okay, it is EXACTLY like a train wreck. :) It's really sort of pitiful, and I'm somewhat ashamed for my gender, but I can't stop watching. I saw it last night for the second time (I usually just go on ABC.com to read the recap) and I had mixed feelings.

I thought that Shannon was too much, but in the end, I do think she was right. She used a different tack than the other women and it didn't pan out, but I applaud her choice. While I don't agree with how Shannon acted throughout most of the show (she knew what she was getting into, this wasn't a debutante ball), she was right in the sense that Alex is a coward. He's looking for the good-time girl, rather than a future mate. I think if she's not frigid, she'll make good wifey material.

I don't like Amanda as wifey material. I like her from a "let's hang out and have fun" perspective. Something about those big boobs just don't do it for me, especially after I realized they were augs. She "appeared" to be a trollop after the chocolate sauce incident, but in her defense, I don't think she "went all the way."

I sort of like Trista. I hate the "baby-girl" voice though. For God's sake, the women is almost 30. She's my choice for the finale.

Alex...well, at first, I thought he was okay, but as the episodes go on, he's looking more like a cad. Too much absolute power corrupts absolutely, I guess.

Tom Earp 04-23-2002 05:51 PM

What a Crock show!

Amanda is 23 from Chanute Ks with a Boob job.

She is the 1 0f 2 for last show, of which I will not watch!

Only reason I know is she was on The Rock with Johnny Dare and Murphy Wells, who changes the guys she lives with like underwear!

She is not a total airhead dark blond. Playboy was also ther to take Pix of the Ladys of the Big 12.

God what people wont do to be on TV ergo Jerry Moron Springer! I knew one of the DUDES!

Sorry but while I only have third class, I have some!

I am sure I will see if some of this happens on the local news! GAG!

bucutie02 04-23-2002 09:34 PM

Okay well I hadnt seen the show until Monday and I am addicted. I dont know if addicted is the word since ive only watched it once, but i regret missing out on the earlier shows!

Anyway, at first I liked Shannon because i could see how she felt with wanting to kiss him and be all lovey dovey with him, but you cant help but think he has two other women to go on dates with. However, she knew how the game was going to be played before coming into it, so yeah, its a good thing he let her go.

Amanda, eh.... dont like her at all. I think she is a slut. So, this was the third date she went on with him, and she decided to sleep with him! Plus, this is national t.v.! Maybe she just wanted to do it to win brownie points with him! I dont know what kind of guy he is, but maybe thats a big factor in choosing her for one of the last two!

The third girl seems nice. Like she said, she likes him but isnt in love with him. He keeps saying how good looking she is, but i dont think he cares much for her.

In all honestly this show IS very trashy because i dont think neither of the two girls or the guy really really likes one another, i mean, like even thinking about marriage. Either way, im hooked!

thesweetestone 04-24-2002 01:20 AM

I really liked Shannon. I wonder did he get rid of her because she wouldn't spend the night with him? :D

LexiKD 04-24-2002 01:22 PM

First, I want to say that I think the idea is crazy, like you can have three dates and then decide to marry someone...but I love watching how these women freak out after they get cut, I mean really, did you want to be another married on TV personality? It really gets me when they say they could really see themselves with Alex for good and they had never been alone on a date before! The tension on the couch is pretty funny too!

I hated that Shannon didn't make it, but she did keep making issues. She really could have played it off much better instead of making him feel like they were an old married couple already.

As for Amanda, what is she going to say when and if he chooses Trista....Well Mom and Dad, one fun night in NYC didn't do it for him! It would kill me to know that the entire world knew I was dessert that night!

I have my money on Trista...but I don't think they will marry.

On the show, even though it's been hyped up a lot, Alex is not actually obligated to propose. It's been promoted that way, but he doesn't have to have to. Also, if he was to propose, the woman can decline as well.

My prediction is that he will choose Trista, but he won't actually propose. I think he will choose Trista and basically tell her that he would like to continue dating her and see where it goes type of dealie.....

justamom 04-24-2002 03:43 PM

I SOOOO hate to admit I watched this..........

I LIKED Shannon----Amanda OK...............Trista..........FAKE!!!!

I think the way it was edited was very deliberate and succesul in creating the "personality" they wanted to portray to the audience.
They knew the outcome before the editing- They made Shannon look like the Ice Queen-but what's to put down about a girl who won't demean herself on National TV.

Alex keeps saying things like---I don't want to let the wrong girl go-------I'm not sure BLAH BLAH BLAH! I agree with y'all. No marriage-but I think Trista has the 'image" he wants and will get the rose.

He can't find a girl in 31 years? Then what's he smirking about? A real good ending would be for no rose, and go back to Shannon because, gee, didn't he say he already felt like her boyfriend!?!

XOAlumXO 04-24-2002 04:02 PM

I started watching the TV show last week, and I am hooked. :) I don't know why though! I can't imagine going on a show with the intent of getting married after a couple of dates!! CRAZY!!!

JAM- I totally agree with you about Shannon! I liked her bc she holds on to her morals! I remember on a previous episode he asked her about her views on sex etc, and she wouldnt answer. I know that she had to EXPECT it to come up, but then again, it IS a National television show- and I know I wouldn't want my personal info on the TV....I guess that's why I wouldn't ever be on a show like that. But I do like Shannon the best. I like Amanda better than Trista, but I think he's going to end up picking Trista.

gphi2k 04-24-2002 05:20 PM

Honestly, I think he cares more for Amanda (who I like way better) and is more infatuated with Trista than anything else. I have to agree with the rest of the crowd...at the end of the day, I think he'll be a dumb*ss and follow his lustfull feelings rather than his deeper emotions and pick Trista. Yah, maybe Amanda shouldn't have let herself become dessert, but she really likes him. We all do silly things without thinking when we're with someone we really like. She just seems like more of a person to me. More "real."

From the pre-views, it looks like his parents aren't too thrilled with Trista. Hopefully that'll sway him....

Tom Earp 04-24-2002 05:33 PM

One plus for Amanda, She is from Small Town Kansas!

She holds herself to higher morals than the rest! Even tho she has a boob job!

She is find it is a little to MUCH for her, the Boob Job I mean!

Oh for you big city folks out there, Chanute is in So, E. Ks! Well giver or take a bit!:)

Actually, she looks like a little Blonde Haired Chipmonck!

But a coy one at least!

PPSS, I wouldmnot Marry the Butt Head anyway!;)

Well if I was a Shelia!;)

XOAlumXO 04-25-2002 10:23 PM

I watched the whole two hour finale (I taped Friends!) and I really enjoyed it.
I had hoped he'd pick Amanda, but thought he was going to go with Trista. So, needless to say, when he did pick Amanda, I thought he picked the right girl out of the 2. (Shannon is still my favorite, though! I liked how she had high standards and morals) I am watching Good Morning America tomorrow to find out if the couple stayed together. I am hooked. This is ridiculous, I know!

LeslieAGD 04-25-2002 10:26 PM

I was glad Alex chose Amanda in the final episode. They seemed to have a connection from the very beginning. Something about Trista bugged me for some reason.

Question: Does anyone know if any of the "bachelorettes" were sorority women?

pinkangel 04-25-2002 11:26 PM

what a horrible show!!! but i was hooked. oh, so embarassing.
in a wierd way, i'm glad he chose amanda, i can definintely understand why, she was more into him the whole time and i think that's more what he's looking for. I can't even begin to comprehend choosing someone to marry through an experience like that!

agh, I'm hooked... what time is Good Morning American on?

GMA starts at 7 am, Eastern Time.
Well, half of my prediction was right. I didn't think he would propose, but I thought he'd pick Trista to continue to "date".
I have to say, I think he picked Amanda because she likes him just so slightly more than he likes her, so he can be comfortable there. Whereas Trista, there was that uncertainty.

Anyhow, why did he bother getting an engagement ring? I guess all in the name of TV, right?

Hootie 04-26-2002 01:19 AM

The damn ABC website doesn't reveal whom he picked so I'm outta the loop. He picked Amanda, from Kansas correct? So did he propose to her? Are they just dating? What happened? What's with GMA? Do I need to watch it to find out my questions? URG!
LOL,
Hootie

Peaches-n-Cream 04-26-2002 01:46 AM

He didn't propose, but he did buy a ring to be used at a later date. They only met five weeks ago so they will take some time to get to know each other better. He asked her to move to be near him, and she agreed.

DeltaBetaBaby 04-26-2002 03:50 AM

HOLD ON!!! NO PROPOSAL??? What was the damn point?

XOAlumXO 04-26-2002 08:46 AM

I think the 'no proposal' was a good thing. It's only been 5 weeks and I am sure they thought it was too soon. Maybe he bought it to let her know where his intentions are?

KarenC725 04-26-2002 09:08 AM

Someone please update on GMA. I didn't get to see it...

LexiKD 04-26-2002 10:33 AM

I am so mad that Amanda was the one that I don't even know where to begin.

All I want to know is if they were allowed to keep the HW ring!

Hootie 04-26-2002 01:18 PM

Okay, here are my final thoughts. First off, I'm glad they aren't engaged...I'm glad he's not engaged to ANY of them. It was a weird situation and too soon. Granted I do believe in infatuation at first site, but even 5 weeks is a short time to know if you're "meant to be".
Secondly, wtf? Amanda is from small town Kansas and tight with her family. She'll be leaving it all behind for nothing. I mean, in my opinion, she won't be happy. Why? Because they aren't exclusive, they're NOT engaged, she won't know anyone...she'll have to readjust her life for him, and in the end, I bet she gets hurt (I'm not hoping she does, that's too cruel). I just know, from current situations, what it's like to leave home and family and friends all behind for love. It takes a LOT of adjusting...and I'm engaged...she isn't!

That show was taped in February, and we're almost in May. I wonder whether they are still together? If they should dissolve as a couple, I am sure that it will hit the media.

I wonder what ever happened to that girl who went on a date with the Prince in "Who Wants to Be a Princess?" (it was kind of a beauty pageanty type of show)??

blueyes 04-26-2002 01:30 PM

It would be ridiculous if they actually became engaged under the circumstances of this show. On the other hand, I absolutely agree with DetaBetaBaby in "What's the Point!!!"

Most viewers were led to believe that something was gonna happen so it kinda makes the show a fraud. Perhaps they shoulda had a shotgun wedding...lol. Or better yet, shoot the series before it began.

Shelacious 04-26-2002 01:44 PM

Thoughts

Okay, I felt that Alex picking Amanda showed the kind of guy HE really is more than anything to do with the women. This guy is sort of a loser, and insecure to boot, but it was to be expected: if I only had 5 weeks, I'd probably chose the guy who was the most fun/sexiest as well. It's also probably a big ego boost to have someone fall in love with you in 5 weeks, and to take a small town girl and show her the "big city". However, what about after the fun times and great lust wears thin? Again, Shannon, if she can get some control of her issues, is wifey material, but I don't think that's what Alex was looking for. Trista was more mature with her emotions, which is to be expected with a 29+ year old woman--and she let her guard down like Alex had been hounding her to do for 5 weeks, gets intimate, and for what--a sorry and "thanks but no thanks" at the end!

The fact still remains that apparently our dear Amanda has recently had her marriage annulled, and apparently this guy was her former teacher 17+ years her senior (unconfirmed) and a "big" boob job, rumored to have been paid for by the now ex-husband. Rumor on the ABC.com boards is that Shannon or Trista and Alex will hook up. Hootie, I agree with you--she's in world of trouble to pack up and move for a guy without a ring. However, she's young--who knows, maybe she has other objectives (stardom comes to mind).

shultzz 04-26-2002 02:01 PM

..

this guy screwed up big time. He should have slept with as many of them as possible.

CutiePie2000 04-26-2002 02:26 PM

Spanking??

I don't know if the ABC webmaster is playing or what, cuz I sure did not see this on TV!
Read this Episode Summary....
http://abc.abcnews.go.com/primetime/...001-02/64.html

The two go for a dip in the hot tub, and start to kiss. Alex breaks the news that the mansion he's staying in is a little different from his real apartment; Amanda doesn't seem to mind in the least. Later on, Amanda tells Alex how amazing she thinks he is, and that she is falling in love with him. They kiss some more, and Amanda tells Alex she has a surprise for him when they go back inside. They do, and Amanda surprises Alex … in a French maid's outfit. We hear the sounds of spanking behind the closed bedroom door.

Do you think the webmaster is joking? Or did they cut that for TV so we didn't see it?
