Jay-Z and R Kelly, really RKelly...
The CD of their "duets" if you will was to hit the stores today. Did anyone purchase it?
In light of the RKelly "incidents" with "minors", how should the marketing department of the record company handle this? Should R and Jay tour anyway? Do you think that since there is "evidence" LMAO...uh oh of R in the act, that this will affect his career? Should Jigga distance himself? What? I'm sure there was some big time promotions being planned to hype this up. Should radio stations and the video channels ban or limit R's exposure via their medium because of "incidents"? Continuing to air R's music/videos, does it send the wrong message, that his actions/behavior are okay? I mean, NOW there is EVIDENCE. Man, videos and pictures don't lie. Maybe this is a new day and age, where all behavior is tolerated/excused. |
I got a chance to listen to the CD last week when my brother was in town. I think that it is okay, there are a few songs that I played constantly (can't think of them off hand)
As far as them touring, I think it should wait to see what the outcome of Mr. Kelly's recent acts will be. I think that is why they don't have any plans to do any videos for any of the songs anytime soon. It is hard to say if this "evidence" will make or break his career, and as far a Jay-Z distancing himself, that is totally up to him, however if they are tight boys as they portray then I think he will stay in his corner as a support system. The radio and television stations. . .they are going to do what they want. . .here in Detroit, they are playing his songs and songs that he is featured in all the time, so who knows. |
In the words of Destiny's Child "Drama sells records." Point blank. Jay-Z and "Fiesta Molesta" R. Kelly are two of the top album sellers in Rap and R&B. They are going to sell records regardless of the scandals. The fans that LOVE Jigga are going to go and buy it to support Jay-Z and the R. Kelly fans are going to go out and support Jay-Z. I don't think the timing was right to put the album out at the midst of a scandal (especially one as serious as this one.) But Def Jam/Rockafella and Jive felt differently. I don't see why they shouldn't go on tour....you never know, it might be just as successful as the HARD KNOCK LIFE tour but I doubt if the album is gonna flop....there are too many fans for that. They stuck with R. through that whole "Aaliyah" thing...so I doubt if it will hurt album sales.

Oh No
Someone emailed me the pictures that are from the tape. I am not joking! It shows two different tapes but it looks like him. If no one believes me PM me and I will email them to you.
|
Have you heard the poem "The Thickness" by Jill Scott? I think it applies all too well for this situation. I am not saying that that is an excuse for any GROWN ASS MAN to be picking on some young girl but Jill eloquently (sp?) points out that these girls have this "Breast and this ass and they don't even know how to CARRY IT! because they are underdeveloped here (point to brain)" and that they are "Still children although they are built like women and still boys although they act like men ."
As far as the video pics are concerned, to each his/her own opinion. One must take in mind that many people impersonate famous people for a living and with that statement above, it is not always IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER! Now do I think it's him.... I don't know. Refer to the first two paragraphs for that. Getting back to AKA2D'91's ?, "how should the marketing department of the record company handle this?" You do what you do. On one hand, this album was planned before the scandal leaked out (and the timing couldn't be better) so they should continue as schueduled but with caution. However, this is turning into a "guilty until proven innocence case" so their moves could destroy Jay-Z's and R-Kelly's career and if this is true, more careers will end as a result. 112 |
For those interested, he's on BET tonight with Ed Gordon Wednesday night.
|
My Soror/coworker heard on the radio here in ATL that R Kelly is supposed to say in this interview that the man who has been impersonating him will come forward. Frankly, with all the time R Kelly took to speak up, I'm sure it took the same amount of time to find a man that looks like him and is willing to be paid off to take the fall. That's just what I think. God forgive me if I'm wrong.
|
I may have to pull away from the Lakers playoff game to watch this. What gets me is that "Rra" (CTHU @Soror Moderator) keeps talking so much about Jesus, but if these allegations are proven, his behavior and lifestyle is not Godly. IMHO, if you are going to talk about being a Christian, you better BE ON POINT 24/7.
|
Hell No!
I started to say hell no but then I thought about Michael Jackson - who I really think is Rebbie trying to make a come back -. He did the same thing except with a boy and we most folk still support him. I'm not saying its right but like my sister said drama sells.
Personally, I would not attend a free concert to see Mr. Kelly. If I did all I could think about is he could be trying to pimp one of five nieces and that will piss me off. On the radio this morning the question was asked what should the interviewer ask Kelly. I say come with it - Did you like little girls and is that you getting your groove on in the video? |
Im with you Professor!!
No sense in tiptoeing around the question that everybody wants to know. Nearly everybody saw the tape(s), they might as well have had them playing at the movies! I say put the man on the spot. They should let the "Oh Drama" girls do the interview!! |

Anyway, I agree with DST Love. With all the time on his hands, Rra could have found some man to impersonate him and paid him off to take the blame. I probably won't watch the interview because I can do without him saying that it wasn't him and that this is all a set up. I'll be alright. |

would you continue to support him if it were your CHILD that he had sex with? (Still, I find both of them in the wrong, but RRa has been in this situation before.
I think he is SICK! |
I can see someone wanting to take the rap for something like pedophilia because Kelly will pay him off. But, even if the price is right, would I really wanna do some possible jail time for something I didn't do?

Okay
If they bust those pedophile priests, they need to bust R. Kelly!!!
One cannot stop record sales of a top grossing recording artist, especially if Arista, Virgin Records or Def Jam, allowed the money time for the studios to print the dayum thang!!! They are gonna recoup their money some how, some way... If the country chose to press charges, GOOD!!! And I hope he get's whooped for it too!!! That was wrong with his indiscretion and pedophilia... He'll probably wind up being one of those old men that chases after "pretty young thangs"... He may have a disease, like genital warts and herpes!!! Lawd hab mercy, should be his song... |

OK, I just saw the pics for the first time (thanks lil_sunshine). No doubt about it - it's R Kelly's nasty a$$. I will NEVER support anything he does - ever again. Is his wife still with him? How old is she? |
Who Knew?
R. Kelly is married? I didn't know that. The only person I ever remember him being married to was Aaliyah.
Anyway, I totally believe that it was him in those videos and I know for certain that he has always had attraction to young girls. I went to high school (Chicago Area) and college (Champaign) in Illinois so, I ran into a lot of people that "knew" him. My friend from high school/college roommate remembers Robert (as she calls him) trying to hit on her at the Regal Theater. It's interesting that she said she was always too scared to talk to him because he was so much older than she was. I guess it's hard to break old habits. I will be tuned in, I'm dying to see what he has to say for himself. Pesonally, I think he's disgusting. |
... half on what baby?
R Kelly is married. He and his publicists did a good job of keeping it under wraps. I believe he has two kids also. I can't remember his wife's age, but 23 pops into my head. He has been married for a little bit now, so I think he married her young. I believe she was a dancer or something like that, but don't quote me on it. The fact that he is married just came out during this scandal, as a control strategy I guess.
I would love to believe that this was a set-up, but the man seems to have a history of loving young flesh. I think he is severely disturbed, and if proven guilty, he should fry. Frankly, I am tired of people saying the girl should have known better. She was a child, and he preys on children. One of these girls was neice to Sparkle, his protege. As I stated elsewhere, there are few betrayals like that. I did not watch the BET interview, because I believe that our media sometimes coddle black stars. Put him on the spot; make him sweat. The man goes underground, and then comes back with an "explanation" in his own good time. I do not mean to "judge" Rra, but as I said elsewhere, half on a baby is cool, but half on a baby WITH a baby is sick! |
Wait til you see the VIDEO...

Mannnn please. I don't believe for one minute that he hasn't seen the tape! He tried to say that if somebody says they have you on tape robbing a bank and you didn't do it, there would be no reason to watch it. But please believe if somebody tells me they are SURE it's me on some tape, I'ma watch that mess out of curiousity. It's not believable to think he never saw it... I can't tell y'all how angry I'm getting!
Anybody else heard rumors about a look-a-like coming forward and "admitting" to being the man on the tape? |
Oooohhhh... I take back the "coddling" comment. Ed Gordon made him squirm. The show is going off as I speak. Ouch. Hmmm... can there really be smoke without a fire. He didn't seem credible to me.
|
Here's why my fiance and I know he's lying. Ed Gordon asked him has he ever made sex tapes. "Robert" answered that there are a lot of bad things he's done in his life. Okay fine. Then Ed Gordon asked him that if he has ever made ANY sex tapes how can he be so sure that this is not one of those tapes. "Robert" never answered that question. He went all around it.
If he made sex tapes, fine. But one would think he would want to watch it because it could very well be a tape of him and another consenting adult as opposed to a child. And if that's the case, then he could've cleared this up a long time ago. But oh no, he won't watch the tape because he knows it's not him even though it could be him. C'mon "Robert" make a little sense, please. But again, I believe he's straight up lying. And as far as the Aaliyah thing. I'm sure her family and he are sick of it. However, if you didn't marry her when she was a child, then you would just say you didn't and leave it at that. If you didn't marry a child, how could her family be upset by a simple "no we never married" and then next question. And again..., lying. |
Yeah, "Rra' (as i saw it spelt elsewhere) seemed kinda close to guilty...
|
I smell...........
GUILT
He looked like someone who's been causght in the act! His body language and all removed all doubt for me.:o :( |
"Rra" needs to come clean. He did not answer the questions to me, plus his fidgeting didn't help. He looked like he was trying to hide something. I am a little upset that Ed bought up Aliyah, really his annulled marriage to her had nothing to do with the purpose of tonight's interview. I was shock to find out that he is married and had a couple of kids. Where have I been? Am I the only one that didn't know this?
|
nasty ain't the word for that video. the first girl did not seem to be a minor. the last girl was most defintely a baby. the tape was not a good one. something was kind of off about the tape to me. there was always some sort of shadow or something blocking his face. his face was always at some sort of angle; however, the girls faces were quite clear. his comment about having a problem that this pastor meeks is helping him with makes me say hmmmm. whoever did those things to that little girl needs help. when he urinated on her, it seemed as if she was holding her breath-trying not to choke. the brother must have been taking some pills or something. he was like the energizer bunny- he kept going and going and going. her little organ looked liked a baby's organ. it was just awful. whoever did it needs serious help. another thing, she would please him orally and then he would stop and walk away then come back. he did this several times. i was wondering if he was dipping it in something. oh yeah, he made her call him daddy - "do it to me daddy," "oooo daddy". i could not believe any of it. he gave her money. i wonder how much money was it. even though the man in the tape resembled RKelly, I could not positively identify him. he was alway distorted for some reason. did he say that he is dealing with a third law suit?
|
That klucker was lying. LMAO
He lied about his "dealings" with Sparkle...(only business), then it became personal... He didn't want to discuss Aaliyah, but I be an attorney will bring it out in court to show a pattern. Rev.Meeks has alot of work to do with this one. You hear he finally admits that he has a wife, huh? Klucker (having sex with children klucker), straight up! NOW, he wants to think about his family, he wasn't thinking about them then. Whoever his attorneys are, they did not "prep" him well. Let's see what part 2 will have in store... |
Here in Chicago, Kelly did an interview with Robin Robinson from Fox news Chicago. The viewer's poll came out in favor of him is what I'm told and I find that hard to believe. Rev. Meeks, when asked if he believed Kelly, stated we are not to judge and are to take people by their word. To me that sounds like even he doesn't believe Kelly. Shouldn't your pastor, if he really believed you, say something along the lines of "Yes, I believe he did not do the things people say he has done"?
I saw parts of the tape because it's everywhere here and there are times it's as though he is looking straight at the camera. Another thing about the tape that disturbs me is the look on his face as he is wiping the young girl off. It seems like a fther cleaning off his daughter with a creepy twist to it because of his age and size over her. Kelly also said his lawyers made him pay off the girls because he didn't want bad publicity. Fire those lawyers! You still got the bad publicity. If I knew in my hearts of hearts I did not do it I will fight it in court |
I saw R on BET last night and he did nothing to clear up the controversy. If anything, he left us with more questions to ask. He might as well have kept doing what he was doing and kept quiet. That way he was dancing around the questions kind of sealed his guilt.
On a radio station in Baltimore one of the DJ's interviewed one of the members of public annoucement. And he said he saw the tape and quote "That's that cat man" he also said that they knew the underage girl in the video and she was much younger than 17 at the time. He also confirmed that she was realted to Sparkle. But he conviently danced around the question of you knew this was going on and you did nothing. YOu have to wonder what his motives are for speaking out like that. |

I disagree. The marriage of Aaliyah and Kelly is relevant. Like Gordon stated, there are official documents that show they were married, therefore Aaliyah does not need to say anything. The documents speak for themselves. (May she RIP, but let's be real about it!)
At the time of the brief marriage, Aaliyah was a MINOR. She was underaged. How is that NOT relevant to a case where he is being accused of having sex with underaged children? It shows a PATTERN. The pattern that he likes to "keep company" with underaged kids. Therefore, it is a possibilty more than not, that it was him on the tape. It takes 2 to tango. I still find there to be a problem with the girls, too they knew what they were doing. |
I agree completely with Soror AKA2D'91 - his marriage to Aaliyah is 110% relevant because it goes to prove that a pattern a pedophilia. He went so far as to "marry" Aaliyah to lure her into whatever the relationship entailed. Now, I do appreciate that he declined to comment on the details of that relationship, but facts are facts and legal documents prove that.
I also agree that the girls knew exactly what they were doing. I highly doubt that they were virgins! He hasn't seen the tape? OK! He was lying through his teeth. Ed had him squirming. HC he was sounding just like Gary Condit in his interview with Connie Chong. HC he repeated over and over..."I'm not perfect..I've made mistakes in my life...I've sinned" I don't believe Gary Condit for one second nor do I believe R Kelly, OJ or Robert Blake. |
I must agree with those that say his marriage to Aaliyah is very relevant to the issue at hand. First of all, there is no question that he was married to her. Legal documentation does exist. Her parents had it nullified. Aaliyah was not being attacked, so Rra saying that he would not comment on that because she was not alive to "defend" herself did not make sense to me. It does point to a pattern of deviant behavior. I think his lawyers did a poor job of prepping him. Thus, I cannot agree more with AKA2D and Skywalker. There are legal documents proving he was married to Aaliyah, and if he was crazy enough to marry a child, who knows what else he'd do?
|
Okay, I know you all remember R. Kelly's first song out "She's got that vibe". When Aaliyah hit the scene with R. Kelly in the videos, my fiance said that he realized that at the end of the song "Vibe" where he says like, "Tonya's got it, Teresa's got it", R. Kelly says "little cute Aaliyah's got it". Now I'm not implying anything, but why was he even then talking about a little girl, at the time probably 12 years old, having that "vibe" (the song came out a couple of years before Aaliyah hit the scene at 15). That's not cute that he put her in THAT song. It's weird. If I had a song like that, I, being 25 years old, wouldn't be throwing my 15-year-old brother's friends' names in the song. But maybe that's just me.
|
AKA2D '91, you took the words right out of my mouth. I agree that the marriage to Aaliyah continues to show a pattern of dealing with underaged girls. You got the docs of the marriage on file, the two girls that were paid off supposedly as a result of his lawyers, and now these tapes. Come on now!?!?!?... and keep in mind this is just the stuff that has surfaced. Who knows what else is out there.
I didn't see the videos but i saw a few pics.. and in several of them he's looking directly into the camera as though he's proud and really into what he's doing. Another thing that i did realize is those girls (don't think i saw the 14 year old girl) weren't shy at all. All those positions and acts... whatever! |
If stupid was an art, R. Kelly would win the Pulitzer. Not only was the tape made in his house, but according to Vibe, he looks at the camera SEVERAL times! He has settled a number of out of court cases due to his inclination to have sex with minors, but we are supposed to believe it was not him?! I'd like to believe he's innocent until proven guilty, but I have all the proof I need!
AND...His marriage to Aaliyah is relevant for so many reasons, which have already been stated, but to add to the previous comments, his denial of his (well documented) marriage to Aaliyah proves that he has NO PROBLEM lying in the face of overwhelming evidence, just like he is doing now. A radio show in Houston reported that a long time ago, Rra threw a stone cold TANTRUM at a press event when asked about his marriage to Aaliyah, cursing, flipping tables, the whole nine, if this isn't the behavior of a guilty man, I don't know what is. |
What about the girls????
It is obvious there is a pattern goin on with R. From the marriage to Aalliyah to girls he settled out with ti the current video at hand. but an intersting questing was brought up on Rus Par and Olivia Fox. Sould the girls be held accountable for thier actions? True they are minors, but I am sure they know what statutory rape is. I think the girls should undergo counseling and/or education. They obviously were willing participants since some of them got paid but i think they should be held responsible to a certain extent.
|
Ya know........
I keep replaying the interview in my mind, and he repeatedly said "I have a problem that I'm working on within myself" One could only take that as "I have a problem with loving to take advantage of young impressionable girls". Rev. Meeks is supposed to make it all better for him?
I agree with everyone here that Aaliyah's marriage to him is important. I think it's really sad that he avoided all the questions and decided to beat around the bush, but as someone said on the radio today..."I would have had an old school pointer that teachers use and brought out the tape saying, Look this guy has a tattoo on his right arm. I have a tattoo on my left" or something to that affect because If you're not guilty of something, you want to review all the so called evidence and find every flaw in it. |
