Well, not exactly a beauty pageant...the College of Engineering at OU has a rich and long tradition (80+ years)...part of that tradition is choosing a Queen every year, who represents the College at Homecoming and other occasions. In the past few years, three of our sisters have been so honored, including Artimis and yours truly! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

I know last year in the Miss America pageant was an Alpha Chi Omega from I think North Dakotah or somewhere up north! Sorry I can't be more specific, I just remember being told to keep an eye out for her!
|
Miss Texas this year is an Alpha Chi!

Miss USA is on Friday, March 2nd on CBS!
Let us know if you have a sorority sister representing your GLO! You can check their website: www.missusa.com and look under delegates to see the lovely ladies. [This message has been edited by CutiePie2000 (edited February 27, 2001).] |
Jeanne Swanner Robertson-former Miss Congeniality at the Miss America Pageant (I forget what year)...

Ashishan Koruyan-Miss Turkey 1991 in the Miss Universe Pageant... ...are all Alpha Gamma Deltas. I too am a lover of pageants!!! I'm especially proud to say that Angela Baraquio who, unfortunately she didn't join a sorority http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif , Miss America 2001, is a UH-Manoa alumna AND her family home is 3 houses down from mine!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif ------------------ *I'm an Alpha Gam...Yes I am, Yes I am!* |
Laurie Lea Schaefer, Miss America 1972 is an Alpha Xi Delta. There are also some other Alpha Xi's that won their state titles.

SDT has one...i took this off our chapter site, so i don't know if mrs. is upposed to be miss or not, but:
Suzy Donenfeld Katz was Mrs. America in 1987-1988 |
Heather White (Miss USA, I think) was an AOII, and last year's Miss Mississippi was an AOII from Ole Miss.
|
Pi Phi has had at least 3 Miss Americas--'58, '63, and '81, I believe. I also recall at least one Miss USA/Universe from the eighties named Courtney. The Miss Americas were Susan Akin, Marilyn VanDerbur, and Jacquelyn Mayer. I know we've had a bunch of state reps because I've seen them in our magazine!
Tri Delta has had at least one Miss America--Donna Axum--she taught in my hometown for awhile. [This message has been edited by carnation (edited February 28, 2001).] |
Not exactly on topic, but Heather Renee French goes to my school, the University of Cincinnati. I think she was/is Miss America. I don't think she was in a sorority. She's a grad student now anyway.
Heidi |
Miss Florida and Miss Indiana are Alpha Chis. Jayne Jayroe, Miss America 1967, is also a member of Alpha Chi Omega. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Hey AXgirl!!! Do you mean the Miss FL and Miss IN for this year's pageant? That is awesome! I guess for once I'll actually have to watch it since I usually refuse to. That is so cool! LITB! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif |
hello http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif I heard that Miss Alabama, who is from Auburn, is part of a sorority, but she doesn't say which one!
i for one will be watching for our fellow greek gals!! |

How do you guys find out what sorority these girls are in? It normally doesn't say on their bios, so I was just curious! Especially at the local and state levels!
------------------ What do you get when you cross and Alpha Omicron Pi and a Sigma Phi Epsilon? A beautiful Chi Omega!!! |
I don't know about any Sigmas in big pageants, but an ADPi from East Carolina is Miss North Carolina and will be in the Miss USA pageant on March 2nd. She's also a really sweet girl and a very good representative for ADPi, ECU, and North Carolina.
|
I just spoke to another Delta Zeta alumna who said that her pledge sister, Lisa Gonzales, represented California in the Miss USA Pageant in either 1987 or 1988.
|
Our national magazine had it...there were probably more, but I usually go straight to the Florida ladies. I've got it in my very messy desk drawer, so I should look.
|
In her interview, Miss Hawaii USA Christy Lynn Leonard said that she served as treasurer and president of her sorority in Santa Barbara. I know that UCSB has a strong Greek life, but she didn't specify which sorority she was in as an undergrad. If anyone knows, do tell!

Anybody know anything about the Miss USA contestants that competed last night? I didn't watch most of that, but I saw a portion of it. Miss Texas won (of course)!

The reigning Miss Georgia 2000 - Pam Kennedy - is a Kappa Delta from my campus (Univ. of West Georgia).
Before I was in school here at UWG, back when Little Sisters were still legal, one of my chapter's Pike Little Sisters was Miss Georgia 1988, and I think she was a Phi Mu. |
Besides the one listed, Kappa Delta has no others. But Monica Palumbo from Alpha Delta Pi at ECU was in the recent Miss USA padgent. She was named Miss Congeniality. CONGRATS Monica. All the Greeks at ECU are very proud of you!

I don't know which sorority Miss Iowa (from Miss America) was in,
but this is an amazing story. Very uplifting story of triumph over adversity! "There's something about Theresa ..." http://www.nationalpost.com/search/s...03/463690.html "When Theresa Uchytil walked up to the Miss America podium, introduced herself as Miss Iowa 2000 and then said, "And I'm just going to tell you upfront. Fact. I was born without my left hand, and I wear a prosthesis, so if you see a left hand lying around, it's probably mine," the audience roared. Her comment was picked up by news wires across the country. Who was this confident baton-twirling beauty queen? Ladies and gentlemen, we give you ... Miss Iowa 2000." Enjoy! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif [This message has been edited by CutiePie2000 (edited March 14, 2001).] |

One of my AOII sisters at Georgia Southern University won the Miss. GSU pageant and one took 3rd place and the winner is going on to compete in the Miss. Georgia Pageant this summer
