if your chapter wasn't there...
Hey all-
OK I have a question for everyone. If (and this is a horrible scenario, I know) your GLO didn't exist or if you just didn't have them where you went, what other sorority or fraternity would you have gone to? Now we all know we all adore our GLO and wouldn't want to be anything else, but what if??? ------------------ Katey, ZA chapter of AGD "Could I have been anyone other than me?"-Dave Matthews |
If my chapter wasn't there I would have dropped out of rush after the first night because I did not like the girls in the other sororities.

Kappa. I'd gone all the way through rush with them too and my cousin had been a Kappa at the U. of Texas.

Well, I loved Kappa from day one, but if Kappa weren't there I most likely would have been hoping for ADPi. They're great girls!

As far as soroities although i wouldn't fit in with the chapter on my campus, I've ALWAYS loved the face that tri-delt has the dolphin mascot. I'm a beachy water person, so I would probably want to go tri-delt.

Were there not a chapter of AKA on campus I would not have pledged anything- we only have two BGLO's and the other is not one I want to join. I never seriously considered a WGLO, so I would be a GDI all the way!.

Well, if there wasn't KD on my campus, I would have to say Chi O. Well rounded locally and nationally, like KD.

I would have gone Theta! Excellent group of girls...wonderful personalities, elegant, charming, sweet, beautiful...

On my campus, I absolutely love Tri-Delta, ADPi, and DeeGee - they are all he most fabulous women, so i'd probably be one of those. I've always wished there was an AGD chapter here too!

If it weren't for my GLO, I don't think I would have joined any of the other groups on campus (all locals) at that time in my life. GDI all the way! After joining my GLO, though, and getting to know the women, I would probably have gone with the local sorority Zeta Pi Lambda.

If my Fraternity(Beta Theta Pi) wasnt at my school when I rushed I would have made the following choices. I didnt rush them but I thought both Fraternities were very cool and I had close friends in both.

If I hadn't been an AXiD I think I would have liked to have been Pi Phi or Sigma Kappa. They were my other two favorites during rush.

Interesting question - My 2nd choice Gamma Phi Beta - great group of women!
When I went thru rush- Sigma Kappa only had 8 women but re-colonized and became very very good! So it would of been neat to go thru now when they are big. But I am so fortunate to of found Chi Omega! The best choice for me!! Sue |

If none of the girls that were in my chapter when I joined, had never joined another chapter; Chi Omega! If we had an ADPi chapter though, they would have been my top choice. Every ADPi I've ever encountered has made me wish that either I was one too, or that she had joined my sorority! Well, since I have not even gone through Rush yet...I can't answer your question directly. But I do have a little bit of an idea of which sororities I really like...just based on the girls that I have met in person and online on GC! I really like Theta, Pi Phi, Chi-O, and DZ http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif. Of course, my opinion may change drastically once I enter Rush! On my campus, I wouldn't have been anything other than a DZ. (I love DZ!!!) But just in general, I've always been interested in AOPi. They are really big at another school in my city and all the girls I've met from there have been really sweet http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

There were only 4 sororities on my campus. I can say that even when times were tough, I never could picture myself in any other letters but my own. If my chapter was not on campus to begin with, it is very likely that I would have transferred after my first semester.

Nationwide: ZTA (I love the strawberries and your mother's pin), but all are EQUALLY great! I'd love to just be more familiar with sisters from ALL the Panhellenic orgs! |
On my own campus, I'd have ended up a Tri Sig. If I wasn't on my own campus, I'd want to be an AOPi. One of my best friends is an AOPi, and she pledged at one school, then transferred to another where the chapter culture was completely opposite of the chapter she pledged at, yet they still made her welcome and embraced her. That's sisterhood.

Let's see, if ZTA did not exist, I would have to agree with ecukd and go Chi Omega. I like Delta Zeta too so they would be my second choice. They are really sweet girls on our campus.

If Alpha Gam was not on my campus, I probably would have gone Sigma Kappa. ZTA and Alpha Phi are not on my campus but I have heard a lot of great things about them.

Off campus I think I would really go AXO, XO or Tri-Delt. I love what y'all stand for and I think all three groups have amazing sisterhood!

Kappa or Tri-Delt. I have always been really intrigued by both.

I start university a year before Zeta Psi showed up at the University of Waterloo, so there was only one other choice: Sigma Chi. And, as a mathematician, the thought of wearing a Sigma and a Chi was pretty tempting.
But, I got caught up in other things and never bothered going out. Once I heard that Zeta Psi was on campus, there was no being lazy, I went out as soon as I could. That's the long answer, the short answer is: none. If there was no Zeta Psi, I'd spend my spare time doing not much of anything. That's about the only time my lazyness has paid off =) |
At our school, had I not discovered Sig Tau, I would have definitely went Sigma Chi, or Phi Kappa Tau.

At my school, I would have gone DZ. They are super cool girls - were always good friends - and some of them are still my party buddies at Homecoming!!

The truth is that I didn't plan to rush at all. If Delt had not come after me (Thank goodness they did!), I would probably be independent.
I suppose if I'd chosen to rush, and Delt wasn't there, I would have gone Beta or Sig. |
