Your Member Number??

I don't know if any other GLO has this, but on APO's membership cards we have, in writhing, our official number with respect to how many Brothers were initiated before you. For example, I am the 728th initiated Brother in my chapter, and the 301,301st Brother intiated in the Fraternity overall! Does any one else know their numerical place in their GLO?

I am number 1 in my chapter and no idea what it is nationally.

dzrose93 03-04-2002 02:35 PM

Hi Pirate,

Although Delta Zeta keeps an official record of each initiated sister at Headquarters, we aren't actually told what our number is. The reason for this is so that younger initiates will not feel "inferior" to the older initiates. This policy has been in place for as long as I've been in DZ, and it is my understanding that it was created to prevent any older sisters from holding their number over the heads of younger sisters.

The1calledTKE 03-04-2002 02:39 PM

I am 711th in my chapter have no idea what I am internationally.

xo_sue 03-04-2002 02:49 PM

We have badge numbers and membership numbers. Badge numbers are not private - you could just get anyone's badge number off a badge on ebay but Chi O's - your membership number is private. For the newly initiated- please don't display your membership number here on Greek Chat.

Thank you!
Sue

shadokat 03-04-2002 03:07 PM

My chapter # is 69 (yes, I was the 69th initiated sister!)...no jokes :) I don't know what my national number is.

Peaches-n-Cream 03-04-2002 03:13 PM

LOL! no jokes needed.

Optimist Prime 03-04-2002 03:15 PM

I am chapter number 32 but that is just for offical purposes for now. 36 where initated together, and we were in line alphabetically. So I guess maybe my national number might be higher than some people who have a higher chapter number than me

PinkRose1098 03-04-2002 03:25 PM

I know mine!

I am pround to say that I am the 1098th member initiated into the Zeta Xi chapter of Alpha Xi Delta!!

h2oot 03-04-2002 03:35 PM

A word of catution!

I don't know about your National organization, but many of them use the member and chapter no. as an access key to the member section of their web site. You may want to think twice about providing this type of information. I'm not saying that anything wrong is intended by this thread, but you never know how somebody might use it.

Very good advice. Caution is always a good thing, especially online.

Very true. If your number is kept private for the aforementioned reasons, don't display it here.

Corbin Dallas 03-04-2002 04:06 PM

I'm the 1507th brother initiated into Theta Kappa Zeta of Lambda Chi Alpha. That doesn't count the brothers that were in the local before they joined Theta Kappa Nu in 1925. I think the first 10 initiates were all members of the local that joined TKN, which merged with LCA. I don't know what number I am internationally though.

Exactly what I was thinking h2oot! Good call!

Lambda Chi Alpha- LX chapter # 1

Alpha Phi Omega- Beta Upsilon Chapter # 275

Ta Da!:D

Sisterplum 03-04-2002 04:35 PM

Since my sorority is a local, I only have one number.....13!!!!!!!

josh8o 03-04-2002 05:44 PM

I'm 166...

Kevin 03-04-2002 07:14 PM

After March 9th I'll be #5 of the Mu Tau chapter of Sigma Nu (that's when we get our charter)...

No idea what that makes me internationally but it's a fairly huge number.

chopper816 03-04-2002 08:08 PM

im the 816th initiated member of Iota Delta Zeta of Lambda Chi Alpha!

SSS1365 03-04-2002 09:30 PM

I'm # 1365 in my chapter. I have no idea what I am on a grander scale though :)

Once this semester's pledge class is initiated, we will have exactly 1400 women initiated into the Alpha chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma :D

TriSigmaTX 03-04-2002 10:03 PM

We have membership numbers in Tri Sigma, just like most of you...which are private, and used for access to the private side of our website. But, for my chapter, Pi (not too far behind you sister :) I'm #1540 and I know my mom was just initiated in October and was 1800 something.

aephi alum 03-04-2002 11:37 PM

AEPhi doesn't do member numbers, or at least we don't attach great importance to them... so I have no idea where I am overall... but I was the second person ever to be initiated in my chapter (strictly alphabetical order here). :)

TriDeltaGal 03-05-2002 12:09 AM

We really don't learn our chapter membership number until we get our badges and only then because they are on the back of them. I guess they are not really important in our chapter or like other organizations. However, looking at my big sis's pin, I'm assuming I will be something like the 2200th member initiated at our chapter. It's pretty unreal to me to think that there was that many TriDelts at just OUR chapter before me. I'm sure it's like that in a lot of chapters at large universities.

SparkliiQTMTSU 03-05-2002 12:44 AM

Ok why in the world would it matter that much what number you are not to show it on here....umm what are we gonna do with it lol??!! I mean geez it is just a number yes it means alot to you but its virtually meaningless to other people. im not innitiated yet but I will be soon and I dont know if I will know my number or not but I will find out :)

Beryana 03-05-2002 12:47 AM

I was the 17th woman initiated into Delta Kappa Phi (I think! The founding sisters decided what initiation number you got and it was about 8 years ago!).

I am also the 1121st woman initiated into the Beta Gamma chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi (and if you can figure out what the chapter number is of Beta Gamma more power to you!! :) )

Sarah

AlphaGamDiva 03-05-2002 04:16 AM

#381 of Theta Iota chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta! WooHah!

Monica

AOX81 03-05-2002 11:54 AM

Number

I am #81 of the Alpha Chapter of Alpha Theta Chi at the University of Michigan.

My husband is #873 of the Lambda Epsilon Zeta Chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha at Kettering University/GMI.

Have a good day :)

HeidiHo 03-05-2002 12:16 PM

As it was mentioned earlier in this thread, many national websites use the member number to log into the "member's only" section thus allowing private information to remain so. If you knew my number you could go to ChiOmega.com and potentially break into the private section. That is what could be done with it.

Nationally i dont think my sorority has a numbering scheme, but something we did as a chapter was to assign "eartag numbers" since we are agriculturally based. My tag number is 13

not sure how lucky that number has been though:rolleyes:

You should maybe ask your question another way--Why in the world would anybody want to know my number?

If they want to know how many members we have had in our chapter, then ask that.

33girl 03-05-2002 08:14 PM

pirate, you made me look. My Alpha Phi Omega chapter # is 177 and my national # is 191567. My ASA chapter # is 335 and I have no clue what my national ASA # is.

KillarneyRose 03-06-2002 12:06 AM

I wish that Delta Zeta would make a bigger deal of our member numbers. Not that I want to feel superior to younger sisters or anything like that, but I like the sense of continuity that comes with having a member number. It's all a part of the "being part of a larger whole" thing, which I like.

Bro2B 03-06-2002 12:25 AM

I am #249 in my chapter of Sigma Chi.

LXAAlum 03-06-2002 05:14 PM

162 is my number, in the 224th chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha - though I have NO idea nationally where I would be, but the number would undoubtebly be above 275,000.

Wow...suddenly I feel real old.

I was chapter advisor for a chapter in Colorado, and loved to see brothers meet their "centurion" - i.e. initiate number 1257 would meet 1357 - both would still be in school (the chapter was large).

Of course, in most social functions, the lower the number, the more privileges you could have as in head of the line, etc....

Coramoor 03-09-2002 11:27 PM

I'm 1871 in my chapter, 4 in my pledge class....No idea in the overall fraternity, somewhere in the 270,000 range I think. Beta Theta Pi btw...

douthit 03-10-2002 12:38 AM

I'm brother #785 in the Zeta Triton Chapter of Phi Sigma Kappa, and I have no idea what my number nationally would be!

I dont understand...how can you be 728 in your chapter when there were only 301 in the fraternity overall...Am I having a blonde moment or is this a typo - to me it looks like there are more people in your chapter than there are nationally.

Tom Earp 03-10-2002 04:21 PM

LXAAlum, I knew 101,201,301,401,501, a am looking to # 601 in the Fall Ritual Class! What A HOOT That will Be!

Alumni and collegiates combined, APO has 302,000+ members. Pirate happens to be #301,301. (I know it looks confusing typed out!)
