Texas A&M recruitment is almost here!

I'm moving DD to College Station tomorrow, and recruitment gets started on Sunday. It's hard to believe this weekend is finally here - I'm so excited for this new chapter in her life but it's such a bittersweet time for me. Best of luck to all the girls going through recruitment - I hope they all find sorority homes that bring them as much happiness, fond memories, and lifelong friendships as Phi Mu has given (and continues to give) me!

ceciliaky 08-21-2015 01:22 PM

I wonder if Ree Drummond's daughter is going through recruitment?

Just interested 08-21-2015 03:06 PM

I hope Phi Mu chooses to submit a packet to present at TAMU if they open for expansion. Just saying! You have great chapters in the Houston area so lots of alumnae help.

I heard the final number for recruitment this year is 1402. I believe that is up at bit from last year.

Wow! This number have finally surpassed UT. It used to be that A&M wasn't as big of a Greek school as Texas or Tech.

exactly what I was thinking!

Delta-adpi 08-24-2015 02:43 PM

Good Luck to her! How did her first day go?

ChioLu 08-24-2015 03:25 PM

I have a friend's daughter going through Recruitment also and excited for her. A "big wig" Chi O wrote her rec.

Lagniappe 08-24-2015 05:16 PM

Delta-adpi, other than it being hotter than blazes, she's enjoying it. Today is day 2 of Go Greek round (parties started yesterday afternoon after convocation) where they visit all twelve houses (six yesterday and six today). Philanthropy will be spread out over two days, as well, starting tomorrow. Like Just interested mentioned, there are 1400 girls are going through.

How did I not know this...have to go tell generallygreek right now! I love the Pioneer Woman!

Delta-adpi 08-25-2015 08:32 AM

Great! How many rounds are they doing with that many PNMs? I am amazed at the size of Greek life at A&M. It's really grown from what I remember my friends going through 25 or so years ago.

From the panhellenic website, it looks like two "Go Greek!"/open house days, two philanthropy day, one skit day, and then pref. Bid day is this Saturday.

Delta-adpi 08-27-2015 07:32 AM

Thanks! How is it going so far for your daughter?

APhiLife 08-29-2015 10:40 AM

Does anyone know what time bid day is today?

AZTheta 08-29-2015 10:51 AM

Am waiting to hear how Ag_Sis did - hoping she found a home!

Where did you get this number?

Lagniappe 08-29-2015 12:52 PM

Delta-adpi, it's gone well for her. A couple of bumps along the way but she was happy to pref three houses yesterday. It's been pretty brutal for a lot of the girls.

Just interested, quota of 87 was what Panhellenic was predicting at the parent convocation this past Sunday, so it looks like they were spot-on. Have you heard any figures for any of the other houses?

arrowlady 08-29-2015 06:40 PM

Gamma Phi got 103

travelgirl 08-29-2015 09:47 PM

Yea!

Gamma Phi has been growing by leaps and bounds! Way to go girls!

SWTXBelle 08-29-2015 10:40 PM

Hooray! Now I just wait to hear how my girls did!

Nanners52674 08-30-2015 09:06 PM

Has anyone heard how ag_sis did?

carnation 08-30-2015 09:11 PM

She's posted on GC since recruitment was over but she hasn't said on here if she pledged.

Haha sorry, I guess that's the most important part! Yes I am glad to say that I have found a wonderful home, and I am absolutely LOVING getting to know my new sisters! I'm kind of caught up in a whirl now - I had dinner with some friends' moms and I'm starting to unpack everything and school starts tomorrow! If y'all want to hear a recruitment story I can write that, but it'll probably take a few weeks. I have to say, it's definitely one thing to hear about what happens during recruitment, it's a completely different thing to experience it with all of the emotions (and heat - blegh sweat).

LIXO 08-30-2015 09:54 PM

Oh please tell us your story!

Will do! I'll want to type up the entire thing before I post though ;) might take some time.

What chapter did you join?

AZTheta 08-31-2015 07:33 AM

^^^ I'm betting she wants to write out her story and reveal her chapter at the end! Just pleased that she accepted a bid. I've been holding my breath. Sort of. Yeah.

Looks like she's a Delta Delta Delta! Congratulations to the Pioneer Daughter on finding her home...I like the picture of Ree doing the Delta hand sign with her daughter and wondering if that's "OK" since it's not her sorority. Cute!

I thought it was adorable!

PS. I was also glad Ree blogged about it. I was wildly curious! LOL!

ChioLu 08-31-2015 03:46 PM

My friend's daughter pledged Delta Gamma! She is grinning from ear to ear in her bid day pic!

lwright 08-31-2015 03:55 PM

Congratulations on a successful recruitment!

ChioLu 08-31-2015 04:25 PM
