Things I Don't Believe

I don't believe in or that:

ghosts
goblins
trolls
fairies
luck
beginners luck
luck of the Irish
destiny
fate
kismet
karma
feng shui
unicorns
minataurs
angels
devils
heaven
hell
superior beings
afterlife
that something worth having is worth waiting for
love at first sight
that you always get what you deserve
God is watching over us
utopia
nirvana
valhalla
imps
gremlins
cattle mutilations (by aliens, anyway)
alien abductions (with or without rectal probing)
life has a way of working out
that God won't ever give you more than you can handle
dressing for success
power of positive thinking
that my color is "blue"
life is a journey
bad things happening to good people is strange
soulmates
by working harder you will necessarily get ahead
:D :D

Moochagoo 02-26-2002 09:43 AM

I don't believe what CG believes in is entirely correct...:)

LexiKD 02-26-2002 10:44 AM

The perfect man

Grad school gets you more money

48 hour diets

Marilyn Monroe was a size 14

PKTSU01 02-26-2002 11:24 AM

The harder you work, the more you'll have...

If you are nice, people will respect you for it...

You can get rich working for someone else...

That anyone other than your parents, children or spouse really means it when they say they love you...

You get what you give...

You can fall out of love...if you can, you were never in it, only thought you were...

good people only have good things happen to them...

money isn't everything, cause I'd rather have problems having too much money rather than none. The people who say money isn't everything are 1% right, 99% bullshit...

The government has the public interests at heart

OMG, probably one of the biggest myths around. It really all depends on where you go, how you get in, and how fast you can move up. Grad school can help in some cases, but won't guarantee you extra moola.

XO_Princess 02-26-2002 01:07 PM

I don't believe that it's going to cost $625 to fix my freaking car! Come on! Give me some credit-just because I'm a girl doesn't mean you can add on things that "need to be fixed" and I won't know what you're talking about. Arrrrhhhhh!

ADPiSweety 02-26-2002 01:20 PM

XO Princess,

I soo totally agree! Thats why when I have car problems I take my guy friends with me.. Geez!

Oh and I don't believe in aliens...I'd have to see it to believe it.

Peaches-n-Cream 02-26-2002 01:29 PM

I don't believe in aliens either. BTW why are they always depicted as having superior intelligence? If they exist which I doubt, they must have some stupid ones out there. :p

DGPhoney 02-26-2002 07:28 PM

My trainners Manual for work
A Chic named fatima

The Weather Man
The Beer commercial for Nato Bo , that states it's the best beer out there

justamom 02-26-2002 09:09 PM

OH Curiousgirl, I have to say I believe in 90% of your list!

Most of all I believe in "magic". It's all around us!

IowaHawkeye 02-26-2002 09:50 PM

i don't believe that good things comes to those who wait - going after what you want and working hard is the only way to get it

justamom 02-26-2002 10:58 PM

My little household is at basketball playoffs! I'm bored...SO, in keeping with the "spirit" of this really great thread-I don't
BE-LIEVE the government is going to tax our TAX REBATE! Yep, that's right. You have to claim it as INCOME!
I don't believe only the good die young or I'd be dead! LOL
Oswald shot Kennedy ALONE!
O J was innocent
Foster committed suicide.
Clinton didn't inhale!

KappaStargirl 02-26-2002 11:30 PM

...that the best people for the job are the ones who always get it

...that Internet filters protect children, or anyone else, from anything

...that anyone else besides parents are responsible for their children's behavior (can you tell what kind of a day I'm having?)

...that nice guys finish last. i'm a sucker for nice guys

prospectiverushee 02-26-2002 11:31 PM

I don't believe that my apartment complex made such a big fuss about how awesome the parking lot was going to be after they repaved it. I don't believe that "repaving" means putting a strip of black tar down the center. I also don't believe that the tar strip covered up the 15 million speed bumps that are around the parking lot.

I don't believe that I got my ticket to see Dave in May in the mail today.

I don't believe that I got my refund check today in the mail either.

ROFL, Cream!!!! :D :D :D

I don't believe that "what comes around goes around". I wish people always got what is coming to them, good or bad, but I don't think they do.

ErikaXO 02-27-2002 06:18 PM

THINGS I DON'T BELIEVE

That passion dies after 4 years...
That a no-talent bimbette like Britney Spears has become Queen of the earth...
That our loved ones can't contact us from beyond....
That money can't buy happiness...
That blondes have more fun...
That "nice girls don't"....
"No pain, no gain"...
"Easy come easy go"....
That the meek shall inherit the earth...
That beauty is only skin deep...

Peaches-n-Cream 02-27-2002 07:10 PM

I can't believe that the Board of Directors of my co-op bought the worst, cheapest windows after years of window meetings and debate. They only open ten inches! I can't believe that there is nothing that I can do about it. They said that if we wanted different windows at this stage, they would cost $750,000 more than the $2,500,000 we already paid.

Like Calvin and Hobbes once said, "I think the surest indicator of alien life is that they haven't contacted us . . . "

A good point, even when made by a 6-yr-old cartoon character

phisigQT 02-27-2002 11:31 PM

i don't believe...hmmm, that they government takes my money away from me! :( and then they tax me when they "refund" it back to me! arg...my ass this is a government by the people and for the people...this is government by the rich and privilaged for the risch and privilaged. they can afford to pay taxes on their taxes! i, a college student, CANNOT!!!

ZetaLuvBunny 02-27-2002 11:45 PM

I don't believe...

.......that everything is up to fate/destiny (I believe everyone is given a road map to life, but the paths we choose will lead us in different directions for better or worse.)

.......that money is the root of all evil (greed/jealousy is the root of evil, money is just a piece of linen! c'mon people!)

.......that people can only find true love once (never been in true love myself, but I believe that many people can have several loves throughout their lifetime, even though they may fall out of love eventually)

.......that blood is always thicker than water (although my best best friend is my Mommy hehehe, many of the people I consider to be "family" have no DNA in common with me)

SAE1955 02-28-2002 01:21 AM

You think Money isn't the root of all evil....?

Where do you think GREED and JEAlOUSY come from...come on now!

DeltAlum 02-28-2002 02:37 AM

Actually...

I believe the quote is that,

"The love of money is the root of all evil."

It does make some difference in interpretation.

aggieAXO 02-28-2002 03:13 AM

I don't believe......

my bosses crappy attitude towards me and my colleagues these last few days-WTF??????? Better stop or I will quit

That I have been out of vet school for 5 years and people that have been out for 15 years are asking me what to do (very scarry!)

that I am 30 years old when I feel like I am only 18

Reminds me of the Jim beam billboard I saw in Corpus over Christmas break;

"A toast; to friends who are more like family, and vice versa."

hahahahah. Flucking love it.

SAEguy 02-28-2002 06:55 AM

1. Apathy
2. Things are pefect without work
3.Santa Claus
4.Every other holiday character ie. Easter Bunny, etc.
5.taking sh*t from people
6.How expensive a small root beer is at A & W
7.drinking every weekend
8.that there isnt a God
9.finishing this list!
:D

Greed and jealousy came about LONG before money was ever invented! Even neolithic people were greedy (over things like food they killed), and jealous (over partners or whatever).

..aaahhh, there's nothing quite like instant gratification... but is it always worth it?

love at first sight

Been there, done that - well actually, am there, doing that.

:D :D

I'm leaving aside issues involving faith - don't want to rock too many boats. :)

*That blood is always thicker than water.

*That you can't have fun without sex or drinking.

*An eye for an eye.

*That following is always bad. Sometimes you have to be a good follower in order to learn.

*That men are from mars and women are from venus. I think we have more in common than we think. A lot of these differences are socialized rather than inherited.

*That parents are always right.

*Easy come, easy go.

*That one's bark is bigger than one's bite.

*Positive thinking will give you positive results.
It's best to be realistic.

*Failure=incompetence

*only the strongest survive

conspiracy theories
that marijuana is addictive
life is fair
anything is free
money can't buy happiness
all people are inherently good

I dont believe Oswald acted alone and killed JFK.

If the government gave us all the details of the assassination then why did they feel the need to seal the "official" documents for another 75 years? Are we to assume that the info that was sealed for 75 years is the same info that they gave us? That doesn't make sense. Common sense tells me that the "official" sealed documents either contain additional info or different info.

KarenC725 06-16-2002 04:00 PM

I don't believe...

*what he said to me
*that he truly believes it
*that this is for the best
*that time is all I need

thesweetestone 06-16-2002 07:11 PM

I don't believe that crop circles are made by something other than people.

DeeGeePee 06-20-2002 01:33 PM

I don't believe...

1.
Quote:

the term Free (it has to be a catch)
yeah, and its called "shipping & handling" lol

2. All those losers made up to fool kids (Santa, Tooth Fairy, etc) I GAVE THEM THAT MONEY!!!

3. the big bang theory and the theory of evolution (I've seen some people that look like horses, does that mean we used to gallup??!!?

4. all men are dogs (some just have issues beyond belief the rest are okay, but they're already taken, not born yet, dead or gay (no offense)

5. the amount of casual sex going on in the world (when yall's stuff starts to sizzle and falls off...you'll get the hint) LOL

6. the government is here for me. Unless you're ultra poor or ultra rich, you're screwed.

7. parents lets their kids get away with the crap they get away with (drugs, thongs, sex, cell phones at age 10, credit cards, cussing out adults, hitting their teachers and their own parents) I don't know about you, but I'd have gotten beat into next year if I did even 1/8 of the mess kids do today.

8. there are NO miracles, or God. I mean, really, two rocks hitting each other didn't put us here.

9. you can buy happiness. You can buy comfortability, but not true happiness, because you can' buy real love, which is real happiness

...and...

10. drugs like marijuana and X are okay and non addictive. Yes, weed is a plant, but crack comes from a plant too, and X puts holes in your brain (literally), and that's with casual use. I saw the Oprah where that girl got a brain scan. Her brain is half gone already. JUST SAY NO. And if you weren't addicted you wouldn't keep doing it, or get in a pissy mood if you didn't get none.

Glitter650 03-07-2005 03:07 AM

This thread reminds me of that Savage Garden song, anyone know the one I'm talking about ?

I Don't believe honesty is ALWAYS the best policy. (maybe 99.9 percent of the time it is the best policy)

Money is the root of all evil

People can't change (it's hard, but they can)
