I've been on this forum everyday for two months! Sweet girl is rushing at U of Alabama and I'm finally crashing. Soooo very nervous and excited for her! I just have to hold it together for a few more days but man...how do you guys do it? Of course she's as calm as can be and sounds extremely reasonable. ARGH!! This is tough. It's not like I have a job I'm neglecting and other children... This is so embarrassing. Whew. Now I feel a bit better. Thanks!

is today 5-party day?

she had 7 parties yesterday and finds out pref tomorrow. So soon right? I think I'll lock myself in my room until then! Why do I feel like it's me? I know it's not me? I'm not a helicopter parent ...only I think I'm becoming one now. I think I should call my DR for medication!

do you think you can buy wine at 10:30 am? Do you think that looks bad?

I don't know! The only thing that helped me was staying veeeerry busy!

I was there only three years ago, and I still feel your pain. It will be over before you know it! My husband still says one of our happiest days as a family was meeting her on the lawn of her sorority house that Saturday. It was such a relief to all of us that it was over! I have another going through at a smaller school next week, and she told me after what my first and I went through, she could not see herself going through recruitment if she went to Bama. It's definitely a lot less stress the second time around in a less competitive environment (but still exciting :)).

Best of luck to your DD. My niece was a Theta at Bama and loved her experience. If it helps to ease your nerves (I always hear how brutal UA recruitment is), other than me and hubby, there were no other Greeks in the family (and my sorority doesn't have a chapter there so I couldn't write a rec) and she decided to go through at the last minute. And she was from out of state. :) So, she basically went through with no connections and found a home. :)

Mine is going through FSU next week with 2000# girls. Glad I am a teacher. That will keep me busy!

I have three PNMs from the Northeast and I can't wait for Saturday as well!

I was a hot mess. My husband left the house. Mine wasn't at Alabama, but her school was also SEC and had second largest recruitment last year. She was a transfer from out of the area, so that only made it more anxiety provoking. I drank. I made myself miserable. And I bawled like an idiot when she texted me she got her bid.

i get this!! i'm an agd alum from UA. this week has been the usual crazy, surprising, traumatic, exhilarating, up & down, emotionally draining experience for both the moms, pnm's & actives as it usually is. been living the ups and downs with my friends who have girls going through. i'm sure your daughter will be fine! keep us updated and wine is your friend :)!

i get to do this next week with my youngest at kentucky...already nervous...

I was so incredibly naive when DD went to Texas that I'd never have prepared her "properly" for rush there. I'm so glad she didn't show any interest. I know if rush had been even a fraction of what I read about here, I would not be greek today.

You are all so incredibly kind (and funny)

I'm sitting down to my glass of wine after long talk with DD - she put down her order for pref round! Tomorrow morning we find out that part. I know she is having a great time and the young women she is meeting are truly first rate!

Like some of you, this greek thing was an unknown to us but we called friends, looked here, and figured a bunch out. Thank goodness for you guys and all your advice!!! Thank you thank you thank you ladies and GreekChat!

I wish I could be there but we are 10 hours away. She wanted me there during the beginning to make sure she had everything in order and was all set up..so I had to leave her Monday! Bid is in hand and she is very happy just a little nervous. Would honestly be happy in any house she preffed but has a love crush on one in particular!

okay so it's 20 more minutes but usually things run long so maybe 40 minutes realistically???

She really had a tough time choosing but said at pref it just felt like the best fit for her. Alabama truly has some fine young women and the rho chis are phenomenal. She sought her rho chi out twice for help and the young lady was so kind and helpful. Love them all and feel so grateful that DD had this person to lean on.
