Greeks on TV
 

Has anyone else noticed there have been more mentions of Greeks on TV lately?

This morning on Good Morning america Diane Sawyer was mentioning that they will be doing a makeover on a chapter of KKG that the sisters haven't seen each other in 25 years - I'm guessing a reunion.

And, on the olympics when Tristan Gale won the skeleton someone had a poster that said: "SN loves Tristan"

I did see that Sigma Nu sign and I smiled.

As long as it's positive representation...bring it on!

Props to Scott McCarron, UCLA - Beta Theta Pi, for his second place finish in the PGA Tourny this past weekend. (There are a lot of greeks in the PGA....)

Also, I did notice Sigma Sigma Sigma letters all over the place on MTV's rock-n-jock Superbowl Football show.

Congratulations to all of those Greeks! It's about time the media started portraying Greek life they way it's supposed to be (whether they know it or not).

I saw an ad for the newest Surivor and they kind of picked out the people's careers and showed them, with their group or job, and one of the guys was an ATO. No negative comments or anything, it was really nice..

Cool!!! Maybe a Greek will win!

I know a lot of girls who are in sororities are in pageants as well. For example, my friend Kymber is Miss Ohio USA and she is a Tri-Delta(Ohio State). I think she has been inactive due to pageant and school stuff though. So Friday night(March 1st) at 9pm is the pageant:) (Miss USA)

So there are two greeks in the Miss USA pagent!!!! Miss Florida USA is a Phi Sigma Sigma!!!!

One of the girls (Sarah is her name, I think) is an AXO!

Cool, maybe I will actually watch it this time. What chapter is she from?

The women of Kappa Kappa Gamma's UNC chapter will be on GMA this morning for the reunion makeover :cool:

Apparently the Kappa Kappa Gamma chapter from Chapel Hill is having a 25th anniversary celebration this weekend. They gave makeovers to three of the alumnae. Sisters from UConn were in the audience. They sang and cheered. It was very fun to watch. :D

There are three other Miss USA contestants who are greek. Miss AlabamaUSA is Kappa Delta, Miss South Carolina USA is a ZTA, and Miss North Carolina USA...it says she's an Alpha Delta, but I think they mean ADPi.

There are three Greeks on the upcoming Survivor 4: One AXO, one ATO, and one Sigma Pi.

One of the past survivors was a TKE, and great to the Sigma's on the superbowl MTV thing!
There was also a great representation of Tri Sigma on MTV's TRL a few weeks back. Great job ladies!!!

It's nice to see at least a few positive things on MTV.

Did anyone catch "The Price Is Right" today? Two of the contestants were Greek...a Sigma Nu and a Kappa Sigma! Tons of Greek representation in the audience.

Amber on the last survivor was an Alpha Gam. Later she was on the cover of "Stuff" magazine (I think that was the name). We are so proud of her.

I saw it! :) I skipped class today to catch up on some studying and I just happened to look up at my TV for a second to see a bunch of Kappa Sig's and Sigma Nu's in The Price is Right audience.

This fall Miss Wisconsin (in the Miss America, not USA) was from my chapter! She was the Tri-Delta social when she was in the house. We are all so proud of her and where screaming at the TV everytime she was on. She really is a wonderful girl, you counldn't ask for a better state rep!

Don't forget Miss Mississippi is an AOII from Ole Miss!!! :rolleyes:

If anyone has ever seen the Steve Harvey Show, he has an OMEGA PSI PHI shield in his 'apartment' by the door.. it's very big.

My sisters and I were on Good Morning America! It was so much fun and it was amazing to sing a Kappa song with girls and alums across the country! Thanks for the Greek love :)

This is kinda funny.. my sisters and I think that someone involved in the production of "Friends", probably a writer, is an AXO.

If you look in the scenes of Monica's apartment, back near her bedroom is a large folding screen with lyres all over it. There have also been several items around her home from time to time with lyre designs... AND Joey's agent is named Estelle Leonard (it's on her door), who was one of our founding sisters!!

Just a thought...

I wonder if any NPC ladies who are currently in the media will be wearing their badges this Monday?

A bunch of Greeks have been on "The Real World." I think Keri (the southern one) from RW Chicago is a Zeta, and Kyle is a Beta, he even mentioned having been at a kegger with his brothers when he was an undergrad. (lots more Real Worlders, but too many to remember). What's-his-name from O-town is a Pi Kapp. Ooh, and was anyone else pleased when they found out Rachel from Friends was in a sorority? Winona Ryder's character was her sister and they talk about having a wild time at a Sigma Chi luau.

Not really related with Greeks on TV topic -

But I swear, one episode of Six Feet Under (HBO), Brenda mentioned the Kappa Sigma Luau party or something. I found it interesting.

One of my new members and I were on TRL about a week ago (the P. Diddy episode). I wasn't sure if they would have let us wear our AKA jackets, but they did (after we talked them into it).

MTV needs more Greeks!

Kyle from the Real World Chicago is a Beta Theta Pi.....he was posted on their national website as Brother of the Week or something not too long ago...just an FYI :)

Every evening when I watch the national news I can't help but notice the Greek presense. He is usually addressed as "Mr. President"!

No, they just have certain security regulations about wearing jackets in the TRL studio (go figure, they have a metal detector anyway). I think they only reason they let us keep them on is because they were our letters.

Wasnt Amaya from Real World Hawaii Greek? And I have heard that the creator of friends was an Alpha Chi Omega. Laura Bush is a Theta. And so is Dick Cheneys wife. (how bad is it that I dont know her name?!) That is about all I know though...I have heard that the Bush twins are Theta too, but I am not too sure on that one....anyone know the answer?

Yeah, I know that the Bush twin that is at UT Austin is a Theta. I don't know about the other one though.

I see at least two Delts on TV every night:

Drew Carey is from Kent State and David Shwimmer (Friends) is from Northwestern. Drew has mentioned it a couple of times on "Who's Line Is It?"

Jeri Ryan from Boston Public (and formerly of Star Trek Voyager) is an Alpha Phi from Northwestern.

Also, Maile from Eden's Crush (Popstars on WB) is an Alpha Phi from UCLA.

Also Maitland Ward from Boy Meets World is a Sigma Kappa. From Golden Girls Blanche, mentions her Alpha Gam reunion. A couple a weeks ago there were a bunch of TriSigs on the price is right.

I love it when I see greeks representing us all so well! :)

In Golden Girls I am talking about the character not the actress, since I had no idea if she really was in a sorority or not. Sorry!
