Recruitment starts in less than 1 week. Just heard as of a few days ago, there were 1460 girls registered!!
Anyone going through at UK this year? Anyone with a relative going through? Didn't see a thread yet for Kentucky!!
And of course..... GO CATS!!!!!:):)

With those numbers, it's a good thing Alpha Chi Omega will be recolonizing this fall!

I have a reference going through. She is a friend of my youngest step-son. Any chapter will be lucky to have her as a member.

Any updates on how recruitment is going? I know it has been hot down there with lots of girls!

Talked to my DD who is a senior and she said they have had some long nights.

I can't believe this wonderful journey for her is almost over. It feels like just yesterday I was sitting on pins and needles waiting to hear from her as she went through. This has been the best experience for her and she is so happy with her house and sisters and would not trade this past 3 years for anything!

Good luck to those of you who have girls going through. It goes fast!

I have 3 rec girls going through ... (only really getting updates on one -- the daughter of one of my DZ sisters ;) ) I hope the rain holds off today & everyone has great hair product with all the humidity! It's soupy out there. LOL

Yes, I have not heard from my daughter since about 7 this morning. I usually only get a quick text in the morning but I'm use to this by now LOL.

update on my daughter :)....kudos to the girls in all of the houses for putting a great rush. my daughter has had a blast, nerve wracking but fun. she is an oos girl who knows absolutely no one at UK. she was welcomed with open arms and made to feel at home and wanted at all the houses. she has been fortunate enough (so far!!!) to have a full schedule everyday and has not been cut by any of her top picks. tomorrow is pref and she had a really hard decision ranking her choices today because of the lovely way she was treated this week. i'm a nervous wreck, y'all keep your fingers crossed, pray that she has at least one invite back tomorrow.

my rec girl had significant cuts today, including from both her legacy houses.

what time do they get invites for tomorrow ... or heaven forbid, a call about being released? don't want to bother mom while she's mom-ing.

Congrats to your daughter. My daughter was OOS with no Greek legacy or any friends either when she went through 3 years ago. So glad to hear it is working out for her so far. Please keep us updated and good luck!

Sorry to hear that...it always breaks my heart to hear this. Hopefully she sticks with it and finds her home at the end of this.

thanks! I do, too. But it just takes one. That's what I keep telling her. she's also aware of the A Chi O colonization, if she wants to go that route.

Just talked to my DD and she said the houses get their pref lists at noon so I would assume that the recruitment girls will get their lists sometime this morning.

I didn't realize this but they can only pref a max of 2 houses this year. That is new!

She has said there are a ton of great girls this year so I am sure all the houses are really struggling with lists.

then I'm going to take that as no news is good news for my rec girl ... I just talked to mom & she hadn't heard anything this AM. I would think, at this point, that if she was dropped that she would've heard by now. (at least I hope that's the case)

even better will be if she has 2 parties.

Yes, I would agree. I know when my daughter went through 3 years ago if they hadn't heard anything by 7 or 8 AM they were good. That goes for bid day as well.

2 for 2! thank goodness! no idea if she likes them both, not at all, or whatever ... but to have 2 parties today just like everyone else is awesome. :D

one more day. I may be more nervous than the mom at this point. probably not, but still ... LOLOLOL

I'm not as emotionally attached to the other two, but will update if I hear anything.

One of them I may never know -- she's the niece of a friend. I did the rec as a zero-hour favor. She looked impressive on paper & had a great picture ... so, if she was as prepared in person as she is on paper, then I'd say she did well.

The other is a legacy with sights only on her legacy house, but knew she needed recs for everyone else, too. ;)

good luck to all of the other uk moms/rec writers tonight! we are heading to lexington tomorrow for bid day. not sure if this is tradition at uk, just doing the alabama thing :)!

got the scoop on rec girl #2 :) Has TWO great options.

an interesting side note: rec girls #1 & 2 were legacies to the same house. both girls were cut from that house. (no connection between the girls -- from totally different parts of the state)

can't wait until tomorrow to hear how it goes!

I can't believe this will be my DD last year at UK and as an active with Pi Beta Phi! The senior angel wing pictures choked me up this morning for sure.

We have a family friend at U Kentucky and kept her favorites all the way through. Sounds like it went very well for her - she is a new Tri-Delt - very happy. I would have expected this young woman to do well, but you never know what will happen until the end.

Saw on Facebook that quota is 94 and that Pi Beta Phi made quota.

Congrats to all the girls!!!! Today is such an exciting day for them!

A quota of 94 seems odd if those numbers are accurate. It would mean that far fewer houses made quota than didn't. Is this normal at UK?

No. Most UK chapters make quota.

I wonder if my friend heard Pi Phi took 94 *and* made quota and simply thought quota was 94. My guess is that based on the numbers provided, quota was 90.

I would guess that quota was 90. It seems like several of the chapters took 90 and last year it was 88, I think. So that would make sense.
