How did you meet GC?
 

Hey Guys,
Long time no post! I know. But I'm here now with a question inspired by a conversation I was having with James. Appanatly a similar thread was started eons ago (i.e. at least a year ago if not more), but I searched and searched (I could hear AXO_alum singing the 'do a search' song), and I couldn't find it. So, I figured I'd start the thread over again. And seeing as how there are a ton of new people here since I last posted, I thought it was a good idea to find out how we all came to meet.

How did all of you find Greekchat?

I was around way back in the GreekSource days of years gone by. I fell off that planet and found myself years later, bored at work, surfing the net for anything greek to check out, and Greekchat somehow popped up. I believe that maybe 'greekchat' was a link that was a part of the original greeksource sight. But don't quote me on that. I'm pretty sure i just typed in greekchat sandwhiched by www. and .com and up pops this site (which looked different when I first signed on but looks much better now). The rest, shall we say, is GC history.

I was on GreekSource back in the day when I was first thinking of starting a Fraternity Chapter . . . And Duncan's Greek Pages mcrae.ca/greek .

So one day, poof, Greeksource.com was gone . .. and then I randomy typed Greeksource.com again and here I landed.

I think there was maybe one post or two lol.

The rest as they say, after 156955 posts since, is history.

But its built into a great community.

I searched sorority or greek life or something similar. Anyway, once I sifted through the porn :rolleyes: , I found my way here. Now that I have read the previous posts, greeksource sounds familiar. This is the first site that I joined, and I have never been a part of a chat room or message board so this is relatively new to me. It's pretty interesting to see how things work at different schools and in different parts of the country. Greeklife at my school was fairly new when I was there so I never heard of many of these fraternities and sororities.

I was introduced to GC through my national sorority. There is a link on our national website to our forum on here. I started checking out the other forums and gradually I started to post in the general forums more than I did my sorority's forum. And as all the old people know...I've been through about 18 different usernames since I kept forgetting my password. :)

A couple beers, a lame line, a few games of pool and some cheesy jokes, and me and greekchat done been together ever since . . .

I think I was social chair, looking for mixer ideas, and came upon this. While not a lot of help in that way, well I stayed around so you all must be pretty cool huh?

Much the same as Rob, I think a few drinks showed me the way....

Actually, I think that there were some issues going on with Kappa Sig, and Rob pointed me towards this page as a place where undergrads were talking about it. I started out in the Kappa Sig forum, then ended up exploring all the other forums. A couple hundred posts later, here I am.

...I was stalking this girl, named ughhhh jkh2k and one day i saw her use greekchat on her bedroom computer.

I wanted to chat with other Greeks, so I simply did a search on "greek chat" and well, up popped Greekchat.com as the first find. I did a search using the most perfect words. :p

being bored at work often I found myself looking up things that had to do with the greek system and just happened along to GC.

I did a search for greeks and chat.

I came along via FraternitySecrets.com. There was a link page that brought me into your guys world, and I've stayed ever since. I used to love posting with those pyschopaths on there....the Minister...haha

I lead an overly boring life for the most part... with way too much time to play on the computer. I was reading through some stuff on my GLO's website, and saw the mention of GreekChat...so here I am...

I found my way from The Sisterly Forum on delphiforums.com for AKA's and AKA prospecives and have been here ever since.

What is GreekSource?

I can't recall how I found GC, but I don't think it was via the Sisterly Forum. I suspect I found it in a search engine.

HotDamGam -- I think Greek Source was a precursor of GreekChat.com. I've read on other threads that certain rooms were "pure Jerry Springer mayhem" back in those days.

oddly enough it was ZetaLuvBunny*love ya Jess* that actually introuduced me to it forever ago like before she and I had started school. we both we on this yahoo club thing and she emailed me and told me about this website and I have been hooked ever since :) if she hadnt emailed me that one day who knows I might never have found this place,met her, and now be her sister :)

My friend that I met on another chat board reffered me to GC. I'm soo forever happy that she did. You all are awesome!

my roomie (ilovemyglo) was addicted to this place...and then i got on one day and am now totally addicted myself. kinda sad, but hey. it's fun when you're tired of being on the comp. writing papers, etc.

It was in the middle of a certain now infamous scandal and someone who is better left unnamed's webpage steered me here.

I was really bored at work one day, started surfing the net for GLO-related sites, and stumbled across Greek Chat. I've been here ever since! This is a wonderful online community. :)

The V controversy led me here. I started gathering info as soon as I caught word on my campus of what was going on and I got here from fratsecrets and followers. Im really glad that I did because I have made some really good friends, even if some of em are thousands of miles away. Yall good people.

I resemble that statement! Gosh, I want to say that it was about 4 or 5 years ago. Yikes!!!! I also used to post on Duncan's board and College Club but I haven't been to either in a couple of years.

I think Leslie (LeslieAGD) guided me to GreekChat cuz we both posted on another message board for our sorority.

I too am an old GreekSource kid. Discovered GS Christmas Break of 97. I also got into some heated arguments ala "Jerry Springer style". Didnt like it and left. But had signed up for email reminder of site updates. I swear daily I had something in my inbox from "Your Friends At GreekChat" So yeah, GC stalked me till I came back May/June 2000. Finally registered, and the rest is obsessive/compulsive disorder history. Dig the people I met here. I feel like yall are my extended greek family. I know I am hooked when something crazy happens and I wanna post right away to tell yall abbout it. I also know I need help. :D I knew I had lost it when there is a problem in the chapter and I think, "I should get carnation, IowaHawkeye's, and KABillyMac's opinion." Normal people dont talk that way. :D

PS Wanst that old GS Red and Yello business awful, especially withthose horrid threads that kept goig down and across to where it was like 3 letters wide... too hard to read!
