Tri Deltas

Ok, so now that we have discussed DG's and Kappas, what do you guys think of Tri Deltas (Delta Delta Delta). It amazes me how sororities vary from school to school. I would just like to see how people view my kick ass sorority.
Thanks!

User001 01-03-2000 09:54 PM

Man, if only you hadn't said it was YOUR sorority! I would have had sooooo much fun with that reply!

I didnt realize how many distingushed Tri Delts are out there. Esp. Katie Courik(might have the spelling wrong) and Elizabeth Dole. Unfortunatley, we didnt have Tri Delts at my alma mater George Mason U. in VA. I am a Beta Theta Pi alum.

don't forget Grace Kelley (princess of monocco), liz claiborne, liza gibbons and the list goes on and on. The are very popular at my college

PiKappGSU 02-11-2000 12:40 PM

I know a couple of Tri-Delts at UGA and I used to date one at the College of Charleston. They seem like really cool, down-to-Earth girls, which I'm sure all Tri-Delts are Right? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
BUTT! There are no Tri-Delts at my college (Georgia Southern)

tri-delts are the best at my school, and they're all blond. just kidding. DGs are a close second, but we do have two tridelts as our sweethearts. they know how to have a good time.

Hillary C. 03-11-2000 08:45 PM

Tri Delta, everyone else has

awatters 03-12-2000 06:45 PM

hehe. Tridelts at UCLA are stereotyped as sluts, but I think that's unfair. The ones I know want nothing to do with me, so I can't really offer judgment. I hate it when people judge others by the house they're in; if they don't judge you based on you as a person, you probably don't want to be around them anyway.

I am an alumni to the whole sorority thing, but still have contact with many sororities due to my job, and I must say.... Tri-Delts still rock! =) The only school I haven't been able to figure out is the University of Southern California? What's the rep out there? At most schools it seems to be the same rep... pretty girls, party girls, fun... etc.

Tri Delts at Texas A&M are awsome. I've told they have the largest chapter of any soroity in the nation with just over 300 girls. They are all gorgeous and lots of fun. We are having a mixer with them in a few weeks. It should be a blast. Tri Delts kick ass.

As a new member of the Theta Sigma chapter of Tri Delta, I'm really happy to learn that my sisters across the country are so loved! Our charter was in question for a majority of this year, but our women worked hard to make sure our house would be open for the women just joining the house. I knew our house was awesome-- glad to hear Delta Love is contagious!

Tri Delts are my school are very snobby. They look down on everyone else and I think that is very sad. They are also kind of sluts.

awatters 03-28-2000 04:18 PM

It's very difficult for sorority chapters to change their reputation... Tridelt here is unfairly labeled "sorostitutes," but no one who says that actually knows them well, I think. Besides, I don't put much stock in reputations– I just try to be myself and don't worry about what people say. Of course, I do care somewhat about what others think of me, because that affects their choice to be around me or not. Unfortunately, it's all in their heads, making it difficult to change. But I don't care about them, do I?

I don't know any tridelts personally and I think it is great to have pride for your organization, but I don't think that people inquiring about greek life should be told that tridelt is the best sorority. There is no best sorority. To me it is not the letters that matter it is the experience you get from being in that particular organization that should give you pride. I just want to say to any potential greeks, that it is not the amount of famous alumnae that counts...every sorority has some. You could change that by being famous one day yourself. Don't be a follower when it comes to selecting your organization. Choose what feels right and that GLO could help you become a "notable" alumnae.

I just recieved "The Trident" today (Tri Delta's national magizine) and upon reading what all the other Tri Delta chapters are doing, I was amazed. So many good things are going on because of Tri Delta! I am so proud to call myself a Tri Delta, as we all raised over $10 million last year for childhood canser research. Way to go ladies, you all rock!!!

Tri Delts at Penn State.....

Started THON 28 years ago which most organizations now participate in and raises millions of dollars for cancer research every year. We also have one of the highest GPA's on campus and are a first tier sorority. Sadly though we also have the "slut" rep. You know..."don't try the others...tri-delt" It's ok we can laugh along with them

rosiekins 06-19-2000 11:36 AM

My school didn't have a Tri-Delt chapter, so to answer your question, "What do you think of Tri-Delts?", my response is "I don't.".

Here is a question for you: "How do you feel about wearing 3 delta's on your sweatshirt?" IMHO, it doesn't look as "interesting" as say, wearing a combination of different letters on one's sweatshirt. Ditto for the Tri-Sigma's.

Although I'm not a Tri-Delta, my 2 best friends are. I think that comment is offensive to the sisters of Tri-Delta. It is wonderful to love an organization and I commend you for supporting it in anyway possible, but it isn't fair to put down another organization. Love your organization but don't speak negatively about another.

Tri-Delts are TRUE DELTAS and have been since 1888!

(this is not meant as ANY kind of disrespect to the ladies of DST)

AXO Alum 06-19-2000 10:20 PM

We didn't have tri-Delt at either of my universities, however, I just read the coolest thing in "The Lyre" (the national publication of Alpha Chi Omega)....one of our sisters was raped and as a result (sadly) committed suicide. Her mother is a tri-Delt, so the 2 organizations have teamed up to present her story to campuses throughout the nation. If you are interested in bringing this unique team presentation to your campus, you can contact Alpha Chi Omega Fraternity for Women at www.alphachiomega.org
for more information!

--See, it's attitudes like these that really tick me off about this board. It's bad enough that there's intense rivalry among BGLO's, and less intense, but university-based rivalries, among GLO's, but attempting to start something between a BGLO and a GLO is ridiculous. I know a lot of you won't agree with me, but when Joe Q. Public hears about a hazing incident that resulted in death, or a fraternity getting kicked off campus, or sees a movie showing Greeks in a negative light--he's basing judgement on all Greeks--not making the distinction between NPHC, NPC, or NIC groups. Bad press affects us all.
Finally, one should show love to all organizations. I, for one, love my group deeply, but I respect members of all organizations, because no matter what the letter (or color of those wearing the letters), we're all Greek together!
AXO Alum--forgive me for sounding totally stupid, but do undergrads get the Lyre sent to our home address, or do we not receive the Lyre until we graduate?
The cooperation between AXO and Tri-Delt makes me proud, once again, to be Greek. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

I emailed you so let me know if you get this. To answer your question, you should be receiving The Lyre at your parents address. If your address is different from theirs (ie, you aren't home for the summer) then contact them and ask for it to be sent to you. All sisters should always be receiving The Lyre.

Rosiekins
That was a very rude and uneducated thing to utter. Of course you cannot understand the meaning as to why our founders picked the three deltas, as you are not a Tri Delta, but seriously that was the dumbest comment I have ever heard. Who honestly cares if there are three letters, two letters, or the same letters? I would just like to also remind you that most girls don't seem to mind this this combination "isn't that interesting to look at", as Tri Delta pledges some of the highest numbers every year. We are one of the largest sororities. So how do you feel now?

greek 07-03-2000 02:42 AM

unfortunately, when you begin a thread and ask people to say their honest opinion of your sorority, you are going to get negative responses. i'm not saying that anyone is "right", just that you need to expect people to say positive and negative things. if you can't handle that, don't ask people their "honest opinions". not being rude, just clarifying http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

I agree...so much I had to copy your post AGAIN. FYI, when members of the NPHC transfer into grad chapters the whole pseudo rivalry changes completely. No one has time for it.

i forgot to add---you wrote this about theta:

"Ok...well here it goes....at my school they are SO DAMN ANNOYING. They want to win all greek competitions...which is great that they have that spirit, however, they get psycho about it. They are known as the fat annoying sorority. "

How in the world can you tell someone not to comment on your single letter delta when you can say this about theta? now, this is your OWN personal opinion, so no one should say anything negative to you. but it's a two-way street. if someone says they don't like tridelta, just don't respond, because after all, this is what you will get when asking for honesty. (bTW--i'm not saying you are wrong for this opinion, maybe this is how they really are at your school, just that you need to expect posts similar to the one you left for someone else) http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Well i am not in a sorority, hopefully soon though- anyway at the school i was at, Baylor University, Tri-Delt was an awesome and very prestigious sorority. Its too bad that we dont have it here at my new school. My best friend wanted to be a tr-delt, but then she thought she couldnt get in so she rushed KD instead. Baylor had a bunch of sororities, i dont know how many, maybe 12 and tri-delt was pretty up there. My friend who goes to MSU said that Tri Delt has a small house- its so funny how they vary from chapter to chapter!

Consul_2k 11-17-2000 05:58 PM

we don't have tri deltas at oour campus but the other school in town does, I heard they answer the phone; delta, delta, delta, can i help ya, help ya. help ya.

Kymberleigh 11-19-2000 01:42 AM

So,

Yes,

To the Delta, not TriDelta that responded...well I'm sure your sorority is extremely proud of your ability to utilize correct grammar...I know I am.

Also, to the Rosiekins who wrote that they didn't have TriDelta at their school, well then I'm sorry you weren't given the ability to know such a great org. Also, I wear three D's on my chest with the pride they deserve. Also, since you don't and will never know the meaning behind my letters I can't except you to understand...I'm sure any TriSigs would say the same. You ignorance is seen in full force throughout your post.

I love my Sorority...I wouldn't have been anything else, but a TriDelta...that's the only place for me...I'm a TriDelta through and through. TriDelta rock our campus!!!!!

Please note that the person who responded to this thread (cubscout#7) IS NOT A DELTA (Delta Sigma Theta)! If you read closely, this poster is probably a frat member or a GDI.

My sorors of Delta Sigma Theta, IIIIINNNNNCORPORATED and I pride ourselves on representing our organization with style, grace and class (and, yes, proper use of the English language!).

BTW, not to be petty, but in your post, the word GRAMMAR is spelled incorrectly.

That is not true, no Tri Delta chapter answers their house phone in that manner. That would only be making fun of our org. which we hold dear and take very seriously.

These wouldn't be the very latest opinions but I'd say that a few years back, Tri Delts at Arkansas were considered beautiful and on the wild side; Auburn, medium; and Miss. State, medium and really sweet! As a Greek advisor, I went to a lot of Pansy Breakfasts and made some longlasting friendships. They are supposed to be great at UGa and West Georgia.

The Tri-Delts, like the Kappas, Pi Phis, Thetas, DG's and ChiOs are consistently considered to be "at the top of the sorority heap" in terms of national reputations. The one word that comes to mind when I hear Tri-Delt, is "energy".
