I'm trying to keep it updated as state winners are chosen

I was in Tulsa this weekend and saw on the news that she won. The Oklahoma media is reporting that Georgia Frazier graduated from Oral Roberts University. Did she go to OU first?

Note: In 2011, Georgia was diagnosed with cervical cancer. She is now cancer free and her platform focuses on preventative women's health issues.

Griffins&Quills 06-09-2015 02:30 PM

I'm not sure. AXO HQ tweeted that she went to OU

catfan 06-10-2015 10:33 PM

I believe Miss Wyoming is a Chi Omega, and Miss Rhode Island is a Kappa Kappa Gamma.

PilotsWife 06-11-2015 08:33 AM

Miss Nebraska

Miss Nebraska, Alyssa Howell is a Pi Phi from Creighton University.

AOIILisa 06-12-2015 01:11 PM

Miss New York, Jamie Lynn Macchia, is an AOII.

violetgeek 06-21-2015 12:58 PM

Miss Florida is Mary Katherine Fechtel, a KD from UF.

(Her older sister Elizabeth was crowned Miss FL during the pageant last year, but the title was awarded a several days later to the first alternate because of a scoring mistake.)

TPA85 06-21-2015 03:45 PM

Miss Ohio was crowned today. Sarah Hider - Chi Omega - Ohio University. Now at Kent State for her masters program.

ChioLu 06-21-2015 04:28 PM

Miss Pennsylvania, Ashley Schmider - Sigma Kappa, Duquesne University (Greek affiliation listed on Wikipedia).
Editing: Per SK HQ, she is no longer a member. Hope someone with Wikipedia editing ability can fix that on the website.

The last week of June & the 1st week of July, there are about a dozen state pageant winner being decided.

irishpipes 06-21-2015 07:15 PM

Miss Tennessee is Hannah Robison - an AOII from U of Tennessee - Martin

clemsongirl 06-28-2015 01:17 AM

Happy that Miss South Carolina is a Clemson student yet again, but unfortunately she is not a member of any of our sororities as far as I know. It looks like Miss Mississippi is a Kappa Delta at the University of Southern Mississippi, according to her Facebook page.

Jill1228 06-28-2015 08:23 AM

Miss Louisiana

Muss Louisiana was crowned tonight. She's an Alpha Phi from Oklahoma City University

Cheerio 06-28-2015 02:06 PM

Delta Gamma OWNS the Miss California Pageant...at least three of the past seven winners are DGs!

ladybug12 06-28-2015 06:49 PM

Same with Phi Mu and Alabama...the past 3 years.

SWTXBelle 06-28-2015 09:09 PM

My niece is a Miss Outstanding Teen contestant in the Miss Texas - Miss America state pageant this week. Waiting with baited breath . . .

. . . and she is picking her college by whether or not they have a Gamma Phi chapter! (I do tell her to have an open mind, but she does have a grandmother, an aunt, and a cousin who are Gamma Phis!)

carnation 06-28-2015 10:03 PM

How cool would that be if you could all attend her initiation?

clemsongirl 06-28-2015 10:36 PM

It looks like Miss Nevada, Katherine Kelley, is an Alpha Chi Omega from the University of Alabama. She's a member of the Alpha Chi Omega at Alabama Facebook group as well as the UA Class of 2014 page. Extra level of sleuth: I found a Katherine Kelley listed in AXO's 2010 Bid List published in the local newspaper.

OPhiAGinger 06-28-2015 11:41 PM

I actually attended the Miss Arizona pageant last night -- first time I've ever seen a state pageant in the Miss America system -- and saw Madison Esteves crowned Miss Arizona. How do you super-sleuths find out the details about where she goes to school and her sorority affiliation? All I learned was that she was the Miss Arizona Outstanding Teen three years ago.

Looks like Miss America will no longer be airing on NBC.

Trump is Miss USA/Miss Universe, Miss America is a totally separate entity.

That's two Miss Californias in the past four years who went to my high school! We've all been titleholders of our hometown pageant. No Gamma Phis on the list (yet), but I'll take a pageant sister.

Interesting! A "kinda-cousin" of mine is a Sigma Kappa, Duquesne!

chi-o_cat 07-06-2015 12:09 PM

From the Chi Omega Facebook page:

Sister Shannon Sanderford (Epsilon Alpha/U of Oklahoma) was crowned Miss Texas 2015 and will compete in the Miss America pageant in September!

The 1st, 2nd and 4th runners-up are all Chi Os, as well.

Sister Havana 07-06-2015 12:59 PM

Miss West Virginia, Chelsea Malone, is an Alpha Phi Omega Brother!

Madi Esteves attends/attended Chandler-Gilbert Community College. So no Greek affiliation (yet). Just checked her FB page and the AZ website. Couple of clicks. No super sleuthing here!

SWTXBelle 07-06-2015 07:25 PM

FWIW, my niece placed in the top 12 of Miss Texas Outstanding Teen (the teen arm of Miss America).

Congrats! Does she have more years of eligibility left? I think the teen org is a great stepping stone to the MAO.

SWTXBelle 07-09-2015 07:26 AM

Yes - she has 2 more years of eligibility.

May she use them well! ;)

Miss Arkansas 2015 is Loren McDaniel a Kappa Delta at the U of A.

ChioLu 07-12-2015 02:03 PM

That makes 33% of the contestants in Miss America as Greek!

Just interested 07-12-2015 10:55 PM

How many state pageants are still left? I bet quite a few.

ChioLu 07-13-2015 01:35 PM

Actually not many. Most are already decided as it gives the title holders time to prepare for the September Miss America pageant.

According to the Miss America website, Arkansas and Puerto Rico were the last two pageants.

Saw this on the Miss Kansas Facebook page:

If there is one thing I am passionate about, it is#service. Everyday I wear my Miss America Organization pin and my Alpha Phi badge to represent my love for service and as a symbol of my future. Being a Girl Scout all my life, I know that there is no greater gift than service, and that is why I have dedicated my life to giving and will someday direct a nonprofit organization to Make the World a Better Place.

"I will do my best to be honest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strong, responsible for what I say and do, and to respect myself and others, respect authority, use resources wisely, make the world a better place, and be a sister to every Girl Scout." #MissAmerica#MissKansas #BEBOLD #ThereSheIs#TheBoldInitiative

I'm glad to see that she is openly representing Panhellenic women in a positive light and what she said is so important.

I think that the way she wears her badge/pin is very cute, but to my knowledge that wouldn't be allowed in the sororities whose badge rules I've heard about. The topic casually came up I was Panhellenic Delegate, so I spoke with a few women about it and we realized that our organizations have a policy that no other pin should be worn above the badge.

I definitely don't know the policy for all 26 NPC organizations (ex. to my recollection, the Alpha Phi delegate didn't participate in the conversation about badges/badge policies) and I'm sure it's possible that exceptions can be made in special circumstances as well. Miss Kansas' strategy certainly does a good job of representing Alpha Phi and sorority women when she is out and about.

1964Alum 07-22-2015 07:14 PM

^^^ She's a beautiful young woman!

Cheerio 09-01-2015 03:54 PM

From the official Miss America Website: Danica McKellar will serve as a celebrity judge for this year's pageant. She is an Alpha Delta Pi from Alpha Chi/UCLA chapter.

Now that it's September mark your calendars for Sunday evening, September 13th for the pageant!

Griffins&Quills 09-01-2015 06:03 PM

@Alpha_O, I was thinking the same thing. In Alpha Xi, not only is no other pin to be worn above the quill, but no other letters are to be worn above the quill. Ex: a lavaliere is technically not supposed to be worn at the same time as the quill (even if they are your own letters)
