Yes, it has been confirmed she was murdered and an arrest has been made of a 49 year old Bloomington man.

Hannah is the step daughter of a co worker of mine. Our organization is in shock and devastated for our co worker. So very sad. Sending peace and strength to the members of Gamma Phi and the IU community.

Sending many prayers. Apparently this happened in Brown Co Indiana which is the next county over from Bloomington. My husband and I were there last weekend, it is one of our favorite places to visit and someday we plan to have our own place there. It is so beautiful and it's like stepping back in time when you visit. Thoughts and prayers to the Gamma Phi Beta sisters and the entire IU community. Theta Phi Alpha lost a sister from IU last month. These two lovely ladies left us way too early.

The Indianapolis FOX affiliate posted a story today online that the man arrested in conjunction with the murder has a registered account here on GC.

HOLY CRAP!!! Any way to figure out who this man is and close the account? Story claims he has had an account on GreekChat since July 2009.

Just re-read the article and it says this dude's cell phone was found next to her body?! What a dumbass.

Edit one last time: I have a list of partial email addresses for him if a supermod wanted to compare them to that list.

If the last few posts could be taken down that would be great. The Herald Tribune is only accessible with a login so I can't see what they're saying. This is a police matter, not something we should be playing "guess the user name" over.

Also, deleting the account would be really unwise as if he did post it could conceivably be used as evidence.

That's so sad. My thoughts are with all who knew and loved her.

What do any of those IDs have to do with this? I believe the user ID the article speculates is his is only based on it being the same ID he used on the sugar daddy web site. That ID on GC was never active after the day it registered.

If that web site was the way that this young woman became acquainted with her accused killer, I hope the national media will be all over it. The way that industry is positioned as a safe and easy moneymaking opportunity for "nice" young women sickens me.

I think it may have been just lazy journalism. The web master did an Internet search for the guy and posted anything on their web site.

Thanks to those of you that did some homework about this. But I do agree with 33girl about not really touching the matter.

Bumping this because the IDS has a really fantastic longform piece up about Hannah's little sister, Haley, who is now a freshman at IU.
