Prospective New Sister!
 

Hey everyone!

I'm soooo excited. For those who don't know, (which is most of you), My local sorority is 99% affiliating with ASA!!!!! I will be a founder of the prospective newly resurrected Psi Psi chapter! We have already voted as a local sorority to affiliate and Panhellenic voted to "give us their blessing" in affiliating and National Council was supposed to vote today whether or not they want to colonize here. I'm so excited! We should find out tonight at our crush party what they said. :) I'm so excited that I will have sisters all over the country instead of just at my school. Alpha Sigma Alpha is a great sorority and I'm so proud to be a part of it!! Our chapter is small but is very close. We start rush this week, and I'm rush chair. I'm hoping that we get a lot of girls!

Well national council said yes so I guess that means I'm officially one of the newest members of ASA. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Update on Psi Psi Colony
 

Well, we are getting ready for recruitment, which is next week. :) Kim Garafola is here and giving us all kinds of ideas for PR for it and stuff. We pay initiation fees in like 2 weeks and stuff. We are already basically calling ourselves ASA's and we are allowed to wear letters I think. We have recruitment workshop and stuff tues and wednes nights we only go to one. And ASA is just great. I love it and can't wait to be initated. :) Well I'm out of here.

It's so wonderful to see old chapters being reborn - I would love to see the looks on some of the alums' faces when they find out!

It's just for us. We had our recruitment workshops and now we are just waiting to be pinned in. Recruitment is Tuesday and Wednesday with bid day on Friday. The new members and us all get pinned in on March 3rd. So I am a pearl member of ASA. :)

Congratulations. It's nice to see someone so excited to join ASA.

Well we got 23 new members at our recruitment, so now we are up to 57 members. We did tons and tons of PR and even got complimented on it. We get pinned in Sunday so i'm excited.

Wow - 57 already! Y'all are kicking butt! Pinning tomorrow will be beautiful, but LONG (depending on how many alums & sisters from other schools are helping). Have an awesome time!

Yeah we almost met our goal of 60 by the end of the semester so we are excited. Does anyone have any ideas for cute big sis/lil sis gifts? I know about the normal, candle,picture frame etc but I would like something original.

i gave my little a gold star-shaped jewelry box that i had engraved with her nickname, number, and rush class... it was not as expensive as you would think, only about $60, which after it was all done, most of the other bigs spent the same on their littles... mine got something permanent though, which i think is better. let me know if that helps you!

Big/Little Ideas
 

I was initiated at the beginning of last semster, Fall 2001. My big (who is the BEST) had some really cute things for me. My favourite would probably have to be the family letters. My chapter is somewhat family oriented and it was nice to get the letters as a welcome into the family. There are traditions followed and some started with every new member. You might try to find the biggest or ugliest ladybug or Raggedy Ann thing you can find and start that tradition. Your little can pass it down to hers and so on...ya know, just keep it in the family. I know it was awesome for me to meet my great-grandbig because I had some things passed down to me that started long before her!

On another note, my big's other little just took a little so I have a neice! When it came time for the "Big Aunt" (thats what they call me) to spoil her neice, I went all out. Anything ladybug is always good.

Update #2 on Psi Psi
 

Sorry it took so long to update but I've just been so busy :) Well Anyway, we got initated and then installed as the Psi Psi chapter and had an elaborate banquet and etc. The president was there, the VP of collegians was there as well as the extension committee head. Initiation went great until I fainted from the heat and my feet hurting from standing so long. Now we are electing officers for the next year and I'm nervous because I'm running for Panhellenic delegate which is what I am now and I'm really wanting my position back so I'm extremely nervous. So keep your fingers crossed that I get it. :) Anyway, thats all from Psi Psi.
