Xenadrine?
Has anyone on GC tried Xenadrine for energy or for weight loss? I have a friend who says it's really worked for her and helped her to lose weight..just wondering if any of you guys have tried it..thanks!
|
Don't! People have died taking that! It works like speed.
|
AMEN! EXENDRINE IS TERRIBLE FOR YOUR HEALTH! IT GIVES YOU ENERGY BY SPEEDING UP YOUR MEATBOLISM...WHICH IN RETURN SPEEDS UP YOUR HEART RATE...RESULTS: HIGH BLODD PRESSURE, INCREASED HEART RATE, INSOMNIA, NERVOUSNESS...I COULD GO ON FOREVER! IN EXTEREME CASES PEOPLE HAVE HAD SPONTANEOUS HEART ATTAKCS AND STROKES WHILE TAKING THIS "WONDER" DRUG...IT DEFINATELY ISN'T WORTH IT TO LOOSE A FEW POUNDS:(
|
Oh gosh..okay, so maybe i'll rethink my friend's advice to give it a try! No desire to drop dead from a heart attack at age 18...
|
rxychrldr...don't get scared off. but just be VERY leary of the things that youput in your body...it is precious and we only have one!!! exercise (to me) is the safest way to lose weight and look great! many weight loss drugs are alot of hype and aren't nearly as great as they sound!
|
I have never heard of any of the ffects you described happening on xenadrine, I have heard of those cases with diet drugs that contain ephedra or phen-fen. Maybe I am just uninformed though.
I must agree though that you MUST be careful about every drug that you put into your body. Diet drugs especially. Talk to your doctor or better yet, a nutritionist (specialist with certification please), if you are in doubt though. |

I'm not looking for an amazing miracle-drug that will melt fat..I know that simply does not exist..i've just reached a "plateau" with my weight, where i'm not seeing the results through excercise and restricted dieting..was looking for some oopmph! |
Yes be very very careful...there was a 22 yr. old kid that died last yr from taking too much ephedrine while working out.
I've taken it in different combinations of muscle supplements, you shouldn't be taking this unless you really know what you're doing. Also, at 18 i would recommend that you're too young to be taking this as well. |
Well, Stacker 2 works pretty well. It is an appetite suppressant and helps with your metabolism. You must take one after every meal, and do not exceed three a day. I personally take one a day. That is all I need!
|
Xenadrine
I took it over the summer and lost 15lbs. Then I took it again last semester and maybe lost 8lbs. It however made me nervous, I could not sleep, I wanted to work out all the time and I was depressed. It did suppress my appetie to the point where I forgot to eat at all one day because I wasn't hungry. I do think that it works, but I caution you to not take it for a prolonged amount of time. Just be careful!!:D  :D

Beta Trim is what I'm on. The FDA is full of crap. Xendraine can hurt you if you are predisposed to being messed up by that kind of stuff. Just like diet coke can give you cancer.
Ask James, he runs a suplement store. |
I took Xenadrine too...and didn't like it very much. I switched to Metabolife 356 and it worked amazingly!!!! I lost 30 lbs from Jan 01-Oct 01....I looked like a new woman for my wedding day!:)
I only took one pill a day (the suggested dose is 2 or 3) and like I said it worked wonders!!!!:D:D I would be wary if you have ANY kind of heart problem though....the drug sped up my heartrate tons about an hour after I took it! FYI...I've been off it now since the beginning of Jan and I haven't gained a pound (nor have I lost a pound..but oh well...at least I'm not gaining!!!!!:D:D) |
So I'm old-school and renegade, let the flames begin.
Please, DO NOT take Xenadrine. Your body deserves better than that. If you need to lose weight and get your energy levels up, here's the secret. eat right exercise I work out about 5 times a week and without supplements or protein powders or anything I have improved my mood and have SO much more energy. I also like the fact that I'm building bone density and muscle mass since I lift weights, it makes me feel good to know I'm getting stronger (and it amazes my boss who sees that I can lift that huge water-cooler replacement bottle). Anyone who wants to discuss workout videos, PM me, I am a junkie (but I suppose there are worse things to be addicted to) and will give recommendations! I can't afford a gym membership on my salary, but my FIRM-addicted grad school roommate got me into video exercise and it has changed me for the better. Of course, that doesn't make me any less jealous of Hootie and her amount of gym access, heehee. |
Oddly enough I gave a presentation on diet pills last night...
The FDA had banned 111 ingredients once found in diet supplements. What does that have to do with you? Well if those 111 were once thought to be safe and have since been banned, how do we know that anything we take now won't be banned in a few years? The FDA claims that Ephedrine causes heart palpitations, dizziness, head aches, heart attack, stroke, seizure, psychosis and death. Although it is not banned by the FDA, they stongly urge the public not to use it. Heidi |
K, here's some info on Xenadrine. I've used this stuff on and off for about 4 years and well, i'm still here so, it doesn't kill everyone.
Xenadrine is pretty much the same formula as most "leading" fat burners, 20mg ephedrine extract per serving and i believe 300mg caffeine. The "stack" of caffeine and ephedrine boosts thermogenesis, which causes the high blood pressure some of you spoke about, and also gives that "high' feeling. Yes, this stack does work, its worked for years, Xenadrine just plays on the emotion that people have. They want a miracle in a bottle, and thats it. Pretty much, all xenadrine does is crank up your workout, and THAT is what makes you lose weight. The pill does help some, but try taking the pills for a month with no exercise and see what happens...absolutely nothing. If it were as simple as taking a pill, we'd all be on this shit and all be ripped 24/7 and, well, it ain't lookin like it. As far as the death thing goes. Tis true some people are predisposed to having bad effects from ephedra. But, peep this, most phramaceutical firms and associations say that up to 90mg of ephedrine is ok daily. The MAX xenadrine tells you to take is 2 servings, 4 capsules, and thats only 40mg of total ephedra extract. And, if you would check into some of the people who died from this, you'll see that they were WAYYYYYY over the recommended limit, to the extent of upwards of 10 pills a day. Not saying that fat burners can't mess some people up but,its kind of funny that the people who are scared of these pills might be the same people who eat hot dogs, hamburgers and bologna sandwiches on a daily basis. So, instant death from overexertion or a slow painful, artery clogging death. YUUUUUUUUMMMYYY. If ya want advice though, go slow, take half the dosage, check your tolerance and go from there. These pills work remarkably well on people that haven't used them before, but kind of have less effect if your body has already been exposed to the chemical. |
I personally find ephedra over-rated and not worth the money, the only use i get out of them is for cram sessions when i need to function on no sleep. In terms of boasts for workouts, there's better stuff out there. I'd recommend consulting with some prof. trainers that are educated on the matter and not Bill from Xenadrine's market research.

Ditto Kappastar,
I started working out at the end of December and there is so much difference in my energy level. I actaully look forward to going to the gym and feel somuch better about myself. I see several dogs per year that get into their owners diet pill crap and after seeing what this crap does to them I would never ever take any of it. eat rt. and exercise that is how you will lose wt. PS what do you think of the Taibo videos? Quote:

I don't take diet pills at all, but I have started with meal supplements/ replacements lately. Currently I have five small meals a day and three are shakes or bars. I had been using the Soy Protein Slimfast (cause it's cheap and tastes ok if you toss in strawberries, lol) but this week I bought some Metabolife shakes (because they are on sale) i have to say that they really make a difference in my energy levels. i drink them in the morning before I go to work and it has done wonders to get me up (I am so not a morning person) and out in the am.
Anyway, after the upshot of energy this has given me, I am seriously considering using them. Does anyone have information on Metabolife 360??? Anyone have any horror stories or success stories? |
I'm taking Xeta-lean a $15 Wal-Mart version of Xenadrine. It's the exact same thing (same amount too) for half the price of the GNC kind. Over Christmas I lost 10 pounds in 11 days, and another pound four days later. It really does make me jittery & shaky, and I have a hard time falling asleep. I'm kind of afraid of taking it too much anymore, but I don't think it will hurt to finish the bottle of it. Right now I'm taking LESS than the reccomended dose b/c I've been off of it for a couple of weeks and need to build up to it again (otherwise I'll be bouncing off the walls).

ahhhh!!!!! 10 lbs in 11 days!!!! that is sooo unhealthy and the likelyhood that you'll keep it off is very low too! you should not lose more than 1-2 lbs a week for it to be effective in the long run. and losing that much in 11 days could have serious health problems for you! all this "miracle weight-loss drug" stuff scares the crap out of me! |
DRAMA
Ok, I have taken Xenadrine and have experienced NONE of the problems that some of you have listed. I lost weight REALLY fast and it helped to curve my appetite. If you want to lose weight fast this is definately for you.
BUT, a lot of people do NOT follow the directions and a lot of females diet when they are not overweight. The packaging specifically says not to take unless your DOCTOR has said that you are overweight. Obviously the medication will affect you more depending on your weight. |
okay i dont believe in diet pills because ive seen people lose weight, sometimes too much weight and eventually they gain all of it, plus more, back!
Exercising and eating healthy really work, and its free! I dont understand why so many people spend so much money on pills! For those of you who are taking them and wont consider stopping, please be careful! :( |
???
I didn't spend very much on that---it was only $15 for a month's supply. I think the reason a lot of people have problems (i.e. heart attacks) with diet pills is that they overdose on it, or become dehydrated. Many of the diet pills will cause you to become more dehydrated, but that's why you should DRINK WATER (as EVERYONE should anyway!). Minimum EIGHT GLASSES A DAY, PEOPLE!!! I try to drink 10-12 glasses a day! Water is the most important thing you can put into your body---even more so than fruits & vegetables (which happen to CONTAIN lots of water). When u drink juice or soda, this does NOT count as water!!! Soda pop can dehydrate you, too!
|
zetaluvbunny, my post wasnt directed at you, or anyone in particular. Maybe you didnt spend a lot of money on your pills but thats not to say others only spend 15 dollars like you.
I was basically talking about people i know. |
I don't want to get into a huge argument but I think that there's a lot of misconception about these pills. First of all you will lose weight (water weight) if you stop drinking caffiene (ie. coffe, pop, tea). I haven't had but one pop in the past month!
Like Iowa Hawkeye said, 1 to 2 lbs per week is the most a person should lose. Anything over that is considered unhealthy. I learned in my Science of Food class that for any diet to be considered successful one would have to maintain the results for THREE YEARS. I find it hard to believe that myself, but the truth is so many women look for a quick fix and lose weight and then gain that plus some back - I KNOW I HAVE. Worse yet your body builds up a tolerance to these fat-burning pills so you really aren't doing much but subjecting yourself to ephedrine (after some time of taking the pill). Personally I try not to use those pills or any pills. I take some now and then, but generally I only do it when I need a pick-me-up before I hit the gym. With regular diet and exercize that shouldn't be necessary! Furthermore, I liked what Heidi pointed out. Before Phen-Phen was taken off the shelves it was thought to be safe. Now women can sue the makers of it for side affects. It's risky. Plain and simple- change your diet and the amount of time you exercize and you will notice a change. Hootie Will POWER Fitness |

And obviously you will lose more weight by drinking H2O because it has zero calories. I was just pointing that out to people who want a way to start off a good diet ;) |

Another thing to know: When you lose weight with Xenadrine, dieting, or other ways without weight training and aerobic exercise, you lose muscle as well as fat. However, if you continue to not exercise and gain the weight back, what you gain will be 100 percent fat. yucky. |
ok, i took xenadrine at the beginning of last semester and lost a whopping 9lbs in 2.5 weeks, and i really wasn't exercising all that much (it was around rush...i ate less and stressed more)...but when school finally started, i went up to the full dose and i had some major heart palpitations. yeah, it was a lil' freaky to be sitting in class and feel this lil' "fillump-ump-bumb" action. i didn't like it just b/c of that. i didn't have trouble sleeping b/c i didn't take it anywhere near the time i would be passing out, but it did make my heart funky. my blood pressure went up, too, so i just really don't recommend it. if you do take it, stick with the half dose b/c it didn't mess me up then.
exercise is the answer. and just remember, if you exercise enough, you can eat whatever you want. at least that's what my recruiter told me. monica |
 I have been a naughty girl when it comes to dieting. I have tried a couple and currently taking Hydroxycut at the moment. I never keep up with the exercise when I take supplements so I don't get the maximum benefits like the people in the advertisements. If you exercise and eat right, the supplements should work. I tried Xenadrine before and I lost 10 pounds in a month. I only went to the gym twice during that time and I had a partime job and full-time course load. I think an active lifestyle really helps. Biosculpt/Thermosculpt requires a little more dedication. I did go to the gym more often, but I wasn't really eating right. I tried Stacker 3 and got the best results. I worked out at least 3 times a week and only ate when I was hungry. I dropped below my plateau weight at that time. Of course I have been bad so when I reached the lose 10 more mark, I slacked off and the weight came back. I will admit to trying the Hollywood Diet too. In two day I lost a total of 7 pounds, but it required so much will power and self control. I guess from the ones I tried I would have to recommend Stacker 3.
I don't recommend any ephedrine products for those with bad nerves or drink caffine. I have a slow metabolism so I force my self to take steps or walk instead of using the bus when ever possible. It is easy to lose weight when taking diet supplements. It is keeping the weight off that became my problem. I guess in a nutshell...you really have to discipline yourself to lose inches. Hope this helps |
Exenadrine
I dated a personal trainer over the summer he said that anything taken in moderation is ok, I went to GNC and got the generic brand and talked to the GNC people ( very very very helpful) and they gave me some green women's daily supplament to take, I took both up to 4 times a day and I lost weight, I need to go back and get more I am thinking of hydroxycut because is does something with your sugards , but I am a fan !!!

Between my friends and I, we have tried every diet under the sun.. recently, The Atkins (did lose weight, but the food just makes my stomach feel full of fat..) Negative calorie (easier to do in the summer, it's mostly fruits and veggies) Slimfast (actually gained weight!) Metabo-lite (contains ephedra, taking more does not make you lose more.. but remembering to take it at the right times was hard.. plus, made my chest feel funny...) and straight excersise. I have a friend who is doing the Low Carb/Atkins diet, and he has lost over 80 lbs.. but for his body type and eating habits, it works.
So far, the excersise works best. But I think it's just a matter of finding what's best for your body, and you won't know until you try. |
DEATH
I just found out that a 22 yr. old male classmate died last week from a heart attack! Guys, be careful when taking these drugs, to hear a few users around here you would think this stuff is candy.
I've used hydroxycuts in the past, personally i found it wasn't worth the price. |
ANY of the "diet" drugs that contain "metabolic enhancers" or "thermogenic" ingredients can cause blood pressure/heart problems. Not only that but they don't work too well anyway.
Do it the healthy way.....which unfortunately means the slow way. If you eat right and exercise, you'll have plenty of energy. |
Thanks for all of the advice/opinions :)

Has anybody tried tapeworms?
|
Quote:
Reminds me of what a teacher told me a long time ago. That in some 3rd world country that they had no meds to get rid of tapeworms. The tapeworms weren't exactly well fed either (3rd world country) so they would place a sugar cube on the infected person's tongue and wait-- the worm comes out and makes a grab for the cube and from there they pull the darn thing out! Thought I'd share lol. |
ohh my gosh..just the visual image of a tapeworm creeping out of someone's mouth to fetch a sugar cube....blech!!!! :P
|
My grandma had one (tapeworm). My dad said she had to go to the doctor and take some medicine that forced her to throw it up. How gross!

lol, who needs diet pills when we have stories like these? lol.
