Poll: Best Kevin Smith's movie

In honour of me finally getting to watch Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back (got released last week here), what is Kevin Smith's best movie?

My vote: Dogma.

Who is Kevin Smith?

Gotta say that my favorite is "Chasing Amy". I really like Dogma too though.

juniorgrrl 02-06-2002 01:36 PM

My favorite is Mallrats, with Clerks an extremely close second.

Clerks is a definate classic.

Parsifal 02-06-2002 01:44 PM

Clerks. I can't believe that there isn't a total consensus on this one.

SoTrue1920 02-06-2002 02:28 PM

Chasing Amy with Clerks a close second. I liked Dogma, but it was my least favourite of all his films. I even liked Mallrats better than I liked Dogma. :D

Jay & Silent Bob Strikes Back was silly (in a good way). I'm glad he decided to close out the Jersey series with a bang, and with a film just for the fans.

pirate00 02-06-2002 02:33 PM

Clerks, however Dogma is a close second in my book. :)

xok85xo 02-06-2002 03:22 PM

while i am a HUGE fan of the NJ trilogy and all of kevin's films..definately no doubt in my mind my vote goes for clerks because while kevin is an incredible writer clerks doesn't rely on big hollywood names or any glitz or glamour (or money, for that matter)that his other films utilized..

as a sidenote..just read on his website that he just finished his first draft for the script to his next movie "jersey girl" woohoo :)

Lil_G 02-06-2002 03:35 PM

Dogma's stellar, kevin smith is a genius - i commend his loyalty toward the actors/ress that played in his early movies before he became a household name.

on a different but slightly related topic, Toronto has developed a plan to contrust a 250 mil. dollar facility to encourage more production in movies/television...looks like hollywood is getting a run for its money.

ladybug1116 02-06-2002 04:48 PM

I'm casting a vote for Chasing Amy. Mallrats and Dogma tie for second.

NeonPi 02-06-2002 05:35 PM

Dogma, J&SB Strike Back (for the Good Will Hunting II scene alone - hilarious!!), and Chasing Amy third ...

KSig RC 02-06-2002 06:45 PM

Clerks
Dogma
Strike Back (although this one prob. shouldn't count)
Mallrats
then Chasing Amy

I like them all - but chasing amy gets a little too cheese-ball for me at parts, a bit overdone in that way. All are great movies though

SigkapAlumWSU 02-06-2002 06:51 PM

I remember seeing Clerks way back when, and I still love it... I still haven't seen Stike back, but I guess I should put it on my movies to watch list.

The1calledTKE 02-06-2002 07:28 PM

Dogma is my favorite.

Coramoor 02-06-2002 08:05 PM

Definitly Clerks.

ZTAngel 02-06-2002 08:25 PM

I am a HUGE fan of the New Jersey trilogy so it's so hard to pick just one as my favorite. But, if I have to choose I guess I'd Mallrats. Clerks is a close second and Chasing Amy is third.

aephi alum 02-06-2002 11:04 PM

1. Dogma
2. Chasing Amy
3. Clerks
4. J&SBSB
5. Mallrats

Actually, the distinction in rankings between 1, 2, and 3 is very close, and depends on what sort of mood I'm in. :D

My major problem with J&SBSB is that you have to have seen the other movies to get much of the humor. Other than that, good movie.

Mallrats... was just a little too contrived for me, though it did have several good lines.

KSigkid 02-07-2002 12:52 AM

Clerks
Mallrats
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
Dogma
Chasing Amy

Chasing Amy was way too depressing for me. I love Mallrats though, and it's not too far behind Clerks in my book. Dogma was just too much at some points, but overall a good movie.

For sure, clerks. I have watched all of these movies like 100 times.

Believe it or not, Bollywood (in India) makes more money then Hollywood. I'm not kidding.
