Lilly Pulitzer for Target

Lilly Pulitzer is doing a collection for Target, like other high end designers have done. It will be in stores on April 19. When it's sold out, it's sold out. They did new prints that will be exclusive to Target.

I need some scarves and some shoes. :D

Plus sizes will be available to order through the Target website.

This is crap. Why not sell plus sizes in the stores??

KDCat 01-10-2015 05:24 PM

You're not the only one to think so. Twitter blew up about it.

It's Target. I never know WTF is up with them. I avoid going in there as much as humanly possible. I would like some inexpensive, fun scarves, though.

sigmagirl2000 01-10-2015 05:34 PM

I love target, I can shop for clothing, food, and cat litter in the same place!

clemsongirl 01-10-2015 05:41 PM

I shop at Target so I don't feel bad about contributing to the horrible corporate practices that comprise Walmart. Agree that it's ridiculous that they won't carry plus-sizes in store, but at least they're making them. That was an issue with whoever their past collaboration was with.

Mostly I want the Lilly print hammock, although I have no idea where I'd put it in an apartment:P

I'm incredibly excited about this!

tootiepie2 01-10-2015 10:21 PM

My daughter is saving her money and planning on buying out the home goods!! She has decorated her first big girl apt in pink and green and can't wait.

Splash 01-10-2015 11:17 PM

I have a question. What will make these items less expensive? Will the dresses be the same material or a different material? Different prints? Just wondering where the (price) differences come from.

33girl 01-10-2015 11:47 PM

As with all of the Target collaborations, the prints will be slightly different and the materials and workmanship will not be on the same level. I have a Missoni for Target shell and while it's nice it's obviously not the same Missoni you would get at Saks.

The girls complaining about this making LP "less exclusive" made me chuckle. If you have a credit card and an internet connection, you can buy it even if you live in the middle of nowhere. It's not like back in the day when you had to travel to NYC or whatever.

ugh yes! I heard the same story from others, and those that are just so offended that they're selling at target because they decided to pay lord knows how much for the ACTUAL dress from LP's store.

Although I don't like LP clothing, I like that they're expanding to places to make it much more affordable!

Tulip86 01-11-2015 08:23 AM

Well... it's still exclusive to me, since Lilly won't ship to Europe. Have only been able to buy it while in the US, and since Target doesn't ship either, I guess I'm going to miss out on this one as well.

The prints were designed by LP for Target. They won't use these prints on other items. Target will have the items made and in general, they will be made more cheaply and more mass produced. Target quality runs from pretty good to crappy, so we'll have to keep our fingers crossed for "pretty good."

I liked Target until they redesigned my local store to add an expanded grocery section and moved around the departments. It's an incredibly awkward store layout and I hate it.

I also got caught up in the Target credit card hack and was incredibly annoyed with how they handled it. They sent customers an email that included tips on how to keep our credit card data safe. Umm, Target? I didn't lose my data. YOU DID! I don't need tips on data security. YOU DO!

ColdInCanada11 01-11-2015 11:53 AM

I will admit that as a Canadian, I don't get the Lilly obsession. But I think that it's not a bad idea- like people have said, people who are "true Lilly followers" (not sure if they have a name) will know if something is a Target piece or not! When Kate Spade made their line for Chapters here (Canada's equivalent to Barnes and Noble), I didn't freak out that any notebook or planner I had bought from Kate Spade previously was now a waste of money/not worth it, I just figured, "Hey, more ways for people to enjoy it" :)

It's also a "one and done" collection...there's no inventory management and reordering and so on, so the operational costs are lower as well.

I rarely find anything at Target that I feel like I have to have. Small appliances are usually cheaper elsewhere. Groceries are definitely cheaper elsewhere (and there's more variety). Electronics are sometimes a good deal when they're on sale.

Their plus size selections are awful. The fact that they'll make the line available online but not in the store is ridiculous. Because plus sized people don't need to try things on ever, right?

Xidelt 01-12-2015 09:36 AM

Their plus size clothes SUCK! And don't get me started on how they lump the few plus size racks they have in the store over with the maternity section.

I was actually going to post the same exact thing! And the plus-size "section" also usually ends up having to share its space with the clearance racks, as well.

YESS!!! It's so demoralizing! I have to wedge my way though racks of Liz Lange and the clearance rack of mismatched bikini separates, all crammed into the corner by the dressing room, just to look at the sad 2 ugly choices they carry in plus sizes. No thanks.

Obviously. I definitely don't have a closet full of stuff in a range of sizes that all fit!

I remember reading once that Lily didn't think her clothes were meant for larger women - it was years and years ago, and I don't recall where I read it, and I can't find it via web search. That said, even if I just dreamed it (and I don't think I did), it put me off. I also think the sorority prints that she did are pretty meh.

I'll pass, I think. But I am happy to know that I'm not alone in my frustration with Target's plus size selection.

Sister Havana 01-12-2015 11:48 AM

No, you are definitely not alone! It was a pretty miniscule plus size selection before and it's just gotten smaller. They do have some cute plus size things online, but heaven forbid they sell those in the actual stores where it would be easier to buy them.

That said, at least they are offering plus size things in this collection. I don't remember any previous designer collaboration collections offering plus sizes.

Dionysus 01-12-2015 12:11 PM

What? Lilly is trying to reach the prole market? Time to pitch my dresses. ;)

AmoXO 01-13-2015 06:30 PM

Hammock. Must have hammock.

I also saw a girls' bathing suit that I hope comes in baby sizes for my DD.

I can't even conceive of buying clothes at 12 weeks postpartum, sigh.

ColdInCanada11 01-16-2015 11:35 AM

I was going to look at it in Target to see if I wanted something but I guess not...

Yes, Target is closing -- will be closing-- all its stores in Canada. That's going to mean thousands of layoffs. Yikes. Looks like the decisions of a bunch of suits over a few years got Target into a multi-billion-dollar hole from which there seems to be no escape except bankruptcy filings and exiting Canada.

Griffins&Quills 01-16-2015 06:10 PM

I still think they should've finished the Lilly sorority prints

So do I , and I hope they still do. Personally I think it was a huge mistake for Lilly to make such a large assortment of items for such a small target demographic. Id guess there are WAY more Theta Phi Alphas who would be willing to buy a scarf than there are ABCs who would be willing to buy a scarf and tote and wallet and picture frame and dry erase board and cup and iPhone case and bracelet. This is probably why there were only a few items created for AXO in the last release.

I agree with you! I think they should have created the fabric and just made a few items like the scarf, frame, and bags for each group. I am buying the fabric squares that I see for sale online. I actually liked the Sigma Kappa print, I think it was one of their best. The AOII pepto pandas on the other hand....

Yep. I agree with you both. LP could have gotten away with simply making scarves, tumblers, bags, and wallets for every NPC. At least they could have made just scarves and bags and then called it a day. I don't know too many people who actually bought the overpriced keychain or dry erase boards.

33girl 01-16-2015 07:54 PM

Well everything with a palm tree on it can be considered ASA items, so ha ha on them :p

OPhiAGinger 03-27-2015 04:53 PM

I can't touch the fabric or try it on yet, but I'm in. http://www.target.com/c/lilly-pulitz...shop/-/N-4ymap

AmoXO 03-27-2015 08:33 PM

Love all of the toddler clothes!! DD is still only 5 months old, but there's always next summer :D

I might have to get us matching dresses. I'm such a sap.

jolene 03-28-2015 12:12 PM

Loved the Lilly AXiD print. Wish they made the iPhone 6 case. :D I want the My Fans dress. May have to buy some of the stuff for my DD. She grows so fast so I'd never buy regular Lilly for her.

clemsongirl 04-18-2015 05:10 PM

I called the Anderson, SC Target today to confirm that they'll have items in this collection tomorrow. I'm very ehh on a lot of the prints in the lookbook online but I think I'll like them a lot more in person.

IUHoosiergirl88 04-18-2015 08:23 PM

I avoided the LOFT 40% off sale in hopes I can pick up a couple dresses from the Lilly collection. Even if they don't hold up as well as the legit Lilly, I'm ok with that since they're not $200. Some of the homegoods are adorbs too

Xidelt 04-18-2015 10:06 PM

I'm not a huge Lilly fan, but I might try to pick up a shift dress. It's an inexpensive way to try Lilly. I also like that they are offering plus sizes. Plus, I think I will check out the toddler stuff now that I have two little legacy buns in the oven!

lovespink88 04-19-2015 08:09 AM

Debating on weather to get my ass up to my local target in about an hour...then again, this is Colorado, so I feel like he hippies are a little less Lilly inclined... But who knows!

ChioLu 04-19-2015 10:05 AM

Online, EVERYTHING is completely sold out!
I tried last night after midnight EDT and the website had crashed.
Since I'm in Cali, getting up early to get to my Target by 8am opening time.
(Hoping to get my XO big sis something/anything for her bday next month.)
