Pi Phi Roll Call!
Y'all, I am so thrilled to see so many Pi Phis on GC! I've hoped for this for over a year and now there are so many!
Let's do a roll call like some of the other sororities are doing! Chapter: Alabama Gamma Status: alum Current ofices: too busy with the 13 dwarfs now, was AAC for rush at Ala Gamma Alum clubs in past or present?: Honolulu; Fayetteville, AR; Auburn Why did you pledge Pi Phi? I loved the sisterhood and the symbols, and that fabulous pref party convinced me! |
Carnation, I must just be following you around today!
This is a great idea, I would love to know who else is around... I am an alum of Washington Gamma. I belong to the Seattle and Tacoma Alum Clubs, and I have served on the Washington Gamma AAC for the past 5 years, currently as Chairman and counterpart to VP Social, Rush, and Secretary, although I have done membership and Moral in the past...basically whatever comes up! As for why I went Pi Phi...from the very first rush party I attended I thought the Pi Phis were energetic, smart, and clearly had the closest sisterhood of any of the 6 sororities on our campus. I am still "Pi Phi or die" and I am so proud to be a alumnae of our chapter and our national fraternity! |
Yeah! I'm so excited to see so many new Pi Phi's on the board! Welcome!
Chapter: Indiana Gamma Status: Active Current Offices: Vice President of Social Advancement :) (BTW I love being the pledge educator!) Why did you pledge Pi Phi? Because all of the girls seemed genuine, and I loved how they made me feel welcome whether it was before or during rush. |
Chapter: Illinois Epsilon (same as Amy Burnham Onken)
Status: Active All Offices Held: Vice President New Member Council for NPC, IG chair for Fraternity Heritage, VP Recruitment Why I went Pi Phi: The girls are all real - I feel like I can be myself around everyone - and I got chills down my back during the pref ceremony |
Chapter: Indiana Gamma
Status: Pledge (Initiation begins on February 28th!) Current Office: Our pledge class does this on the pledge retreat (next weekend!) Why I chose Pi Phi: I knew a lot of girls coming into the house and loved each one. I also felt that the girls really wanted me for who I am, not because I filled some sort of quota. |
Chapter: Tennessee Gamma
Status: Alumna since graduating in 1989 Offices: While active, I was our Arrow correspondent and also was editor of the fall rush handbook my senior year. I don't hold an office in my alum club now, but since I work at a newspaper, I can get items about meetings and philanthropy projects published. Really neat fact: Since our city is just about 50 miles away from Gatlinburg, Arrowmont and Pi Beta Phi Elementary School are mentioned in the paper several times a week. Why I pledged Pi Phi: From the moment I walked into the Pi Phi suite (there are no sorority houses in Tennessee) during open house, I felt right at home. Then, when I cried during the preference ceremony -- we were allowed to go to two pref parties -- my decision was easy to make. When I was initiated and learned our ritual, I knew I'd been led there for a reason. The older you get, the more Pi Phi's ideals mean to you, and I try to live my life each day according to them. |
Chapter: Mississippi Alpha
Status: Almuna Current offices: VP Membership/ACRIC Boston City Alumnae Club... Past offices: Asst. Historian Alum clubs in past or present?: I belong to the Boston area Pi Phi Alum group. Why did you pledge Pi Phi? During recruitment... the diversity of the chapter showed in their activities, the sisterhood between the members shined through and I got the feeling that no matter what I pursued in college that their would be 100 girls supporting me. Little did I know that all those qualities would also be present after college. I LOVE PI PHI and all my sisters!!!! ETA: My new position in the Boston City Alumnae Group!!! |
Chapter: Ohio Alpha, Ohio University
Status: Alum Current Offices: I am on AAC as Membership and Pan Hel advisor Alum Clubs: Presently in Ann Arbor Why did I pledge Pi Phi? I met a Pi Phi who was a terrific person (we are still great friends) and I decided that if she was what Pi Phis were like, I wanted to be one! Once I met the other women during rush, I knew I had found a wonderfully diverse group who, even though they were different, held similar beliefs. Being a Pi Phi has been one of the best experiences of my life. A side note: I have two daughters. Both of them are also Ohio Alphas! Sharing Pi Phi in this way has been a true blessing. |
Chapter: alberta alpha, University Of Alberta
Status: active Current office:Secretary past offices: panhellenice delegate, VP mental advancement, historian(2) and arrow correspondant. why I chose pi phi: Truth be told, I genereally don't like girls. I find them to be petty and unsupportive. I have 2 close girlfriends, all the rest of my friends are boys. Then I met the piphis. Here were a bunch of women that I truly liked and respected-not just one of them, but ALL of them. I had to join. So I did. It was the best decision I ever made. My sister goes to university in a year. She already wants to go piphi!:) |
California Kappa.
 |
Chapter: Ontario Gamma
Status: Alum Office: AAC president and Panhel advisor Past Offices: AAC advisor for VP Social and Panhel Why Pi Phi? I wanted to be a part of a sisterhood again, since I came from an all-girls school. I loved the tradition behind the group and the benefits of membership after graduation. I'm so proud because my younger sister joined my chapter last year and just got elected to VP Social, one of the positions I held as an active! |
Chapter: Arkansas Beta
Status: Pledge (Initiation in less than a month!) Why Pi Phi? Honnestly? They were the only girls on campus who seemed sincere and diversified. I loved the feeling I got from them. Tonight was our member/pledge/alum retreat and it was AWESOME! I got my big sis tonight! It was so great to see how Pi Phi had affected so many different people! TG |
Chapter: California Eta (UC Irvine)
Pledge Class: Fall 2000! Position: I just finished being Parliamentarian (not all chapters have this position though) Why I pledged Pi Phi: My sister is a Pi Phi from UC Riverside which deifnitly swayed my decision, but also because I was able to have a "normal" conversation with all of the Pi Phis during rush. I was unsure of my decision when I first pledged, but now I realize that pledging Pi Phi was one of the best decisions I have ever made! I have loved my time in Pi Phi and I look forward to a life of friendship and sisterhood! pi phi love, sarah |
i have got to say first...
I LOVE BEING A PI PHI!!!! Chapter: Virginia Theta Status: Active (i just initiated on saturday:D ) Past Office: pledge class president Aspirations: rush chair, perhaps chapter president Why Pi Phi? Cause it is the BEST EVER! I love every pi phi i have met... i most certainly can't say the same for the other soroities! our chapter is so diverse, but we all share the common bonds of pi phi... and i just LOVE that! everyone in my chapter is so genuinely nice and interested in what is happening in my life... my big sis is awesome... to my family should any of them read this OINK OINK BABY! gotta love sisterhood! |
Chapter: Alberta Alpha
Status: I'm and active Active Past Office: Jr. Panhellenic Delegate (Jr. Panhell Recruitment), Social Chair Current Office: Sr. Panhellenic Delegate (Sr. Panhell Recruitment), VP Mental Why Pi Phi? Simply because my best friend pulled me in... but the bigger reason is why I stayed and became so active. Because they're my family and my support system for all aspects of my life. p.s valdes, I've finally checked it out. Now to get the rest of the chapter here. |
Roll Call
Virginia Delta; Old Dominion University
Status: Active, First Semester as a Sister Positions: Membership Selection Chair Why I went Pi Beta Phi: I didn't want to rush, I didn't think it would be something that I would want to do. West Virgina Alpha!!
Current status: very active!! Current/past office: Rush chair 2002! and sisterhood chair in 2001 Why I joined Pi Phi? I am a KKG legacy, but loved Pi Phi more, I felt more at home here in our house, and the girls had the strongest sisterhood. |
Chapter: Alberta Alpha
Status: As active as a member can be in the system Past Office: VP Social (x2), VP Moral, Parliamentarian Current Office: President Why I joined Pi Phi: Weird story really. I ran into my elementary principal one day and we started talking. He started telling me about Pi Phi and how his daughter was a member. I went to their formal dessert during the second semester of school and really wasn't intending to join. But I decided to go to a few of their hockey games and I was hooked. Pi Phi suddenly began to feel just right. A place where I could call home away from home. |
I love Pi Phi!!!!
Chapter: Michigan Alpha, Hillsdale College Status: Active Past Offices: Junior Panhellenic Delegate 2001 Current Office: Rush Chairman 2002 I hope to find an alumni club wherever I am after I graduate! Why Pi Phi? In all honesty it was because I felt so comfortable and at home with the Pi Phi's during Rush. If I had it all to do over again, I wouldn't change a thing! I love being a Pi Phi!! |
*Chapter: Florida Delta
*Status: Active *Pledge Class: 2001 *Offices held: None yet, but I'm considering trying to get slated for Social Chair for 2003. *Why did you pledge Pi Phi? From the first day of rush I was like, "Wow, these girls are down to earth, beautiful, fun and really seem to have a great bond." I was comfortable in the house the whole time but what closed the deal was the Prefs ceremony and the girl I chatted with for an hour (my future Big). And I loved the symbols and everything and the emphasis on being ladylike and classy. |
Mississippi Alpha!!!
Status: Alum Why I joined?: My best friend was trying to convince me to Rush, so we went to USM's Greek Week recruitment day. We went through a mock rush where we visited each chapter and met with the girls. The one sorority girl whose name I remembered from the whole day was a Pi Phi named Mandy. Just being in the Pi Phi chapter room and speaking with the girls there made me feel like I was home. It convinced me to go through Rush. Later I found out that my mentor, Kathy, from home was a Pi Phi. She hadn't told me so that I wouldn't feel pressured. Now I have an even more special bond with her and so many other girls that I call my sisters. I recently made a huge move and am getting involved with the New York Delta AAC. Pi Phi's have been there for so many major events in my life. I can't imagine not being a Pi Phi. I'm so grateful for my best friend, Amanda (another Pi Phi), who insisted I rush! Pi Phi Love, Bridget |
Chapter: Virginia Zeta
Status: Active Former offices: VP Social, Assistant Membership Chair Why did you pledge Pi Phi? The women I met during recruitment were simply superior - relaxed, intelligent, beautiful, fun and real. |
Chapter: New Mexico Beta (NMSU)
Pledge Class: Fall 2001 Position: Right now I am philanthropy chair and treasurers assistant. I am going to be tresurer next semester and am hoping to be president next year. Why I pledged Pi Phi: I always knew I wanted to be in a sorority so I went through recruitment and on the first night I met my big sis crystal we bonded so much that I knew I wanted to be a pi phi and I just felt so lucky to recieve a bid from them. Now that I've been active for awhile I love pi phi so much and hold myself to pi phi ideals and values. I LOVE PI PHI!!!!! PPL, Suzi |
Greetings Pi Phis--
I am an Ohio Epsilon Pi PHi (University of Toledo) Status: Alum/ International Officer Offices: as an active was VP Mental/ Secretary/Panhel as an alum have served various offices in club and on AAC I was CPP 5 years, Director of Collegiate Programming. Director of Academics Current office: Region 6 Collegiate Specialist- Risk management/ Policy Alum Clubs: Toledo OH and now Richardson-Plano TX (IDEAL CLUB 2001) Why did I pledge? To give me a 'home' on campus I guess would be the best way to put it. UT was a commuter campus at that time (it's more residential now). If you weren't Greek you really had no way to be involved on campus- it was like HS (only worse because of the size of the campus). Of course, having my sister in the chapter made it extra-special. I'm happy to see so many Pi Phis sharing ideas! PPL, Karen |
Chapter: Virginia Theta (Washington and Lee University)
Status: Active, Pledge class 2002 (graduating 2005) Office: Membership Chair, Chapter President Why Pi Phi: Because I met so many amazing Pi Phis during the fall (we have deferred rush) and I felt they were the smartest, least flighty, and with the strongest sisterhood! |

Roll Call
Hi all Im a new member to GC. Yeah!. I am sooo excited to see so many Pi Phi's here. Ok for the roll call.
I am a Virginia Delta at Old Dominion University. I pledged in fall of 2001. As of right now I am not an active sister because of the fact that I just found out I may have ovarian cancer. I have been in and out of the hospital for about a year and a half now. :( I plan on coming back this coming semester because I have realized how much I need my sisters. I was Risk Management Educator two semesters ago. And Why did I pledge Pi Phi? Well first off, my mother is a Pi Phi so the whole legacy thing made it very special to me. But I have also learned that you cannot find someone mroe caring and helpful then a Pi Phi. My sisters have always been there for me since I have had my problems and I love each and every one of them. I had the choice of more then one sorority and when Bid Day came I knew where my heart belonged. Just like my mother, I am a Pi Phi for life and You all are my family. :) :) . And to all my sisters all over the USA and Canada..... TTF! |
Welcome to GC! I hope that your tests turn out negative--
|
I hope everything works out for the best. Let us know how you are doing.
Pi Phi Love and Mine |
Hey!!!
I'm an Alabama Gamma Collegian!! I Love Pi Phi because of the lasting memories and sweet sweet gals!!!~ TTF Jessica |
Roll Call
Chapter: Florida Epsilon
Status: Active as can be: PC'02 Why Pi Phi: In all honesty, the Pi Phi's that I met during recruitment were the only girls who seemed sincere and devoted to improving their chapter. It is diversified but the closest thing to a family without the biological attachment. These girls make me so proud of my letters and what they stand for. I know my sisters will be there for me through my strongest and weakest points, to laugh or to cry, to celebrate or to mourn; and that is what makes Pi Beta Phi the most beautiful thing that I have ever experienced. Pi Phi Love and ALL of Mine, Lauren |
Is anyone from WVU?
|
roll call
Chapter: Illinois Beta-Delta
Status: active Current office: Membership Chair Why Pi Phi? "You have to recognize when the right place and the right time fuse and take advantage of that opportunity. There are plenty of opportunities out there. You can't sit back and wait." -Ellen Metcalf Pi Phi was the right place and it felt like the right time. :D |
Chapter: Illinois Beta-Delta
Status: Active Current office: Publications Chair, Panhel Secretary Why Pi Phi? It just seemed right. Now I can't imagine anything different. The people are wonderful, and I am and will continue to be proud to be an arrow girl. :) Also, I would like to send a shoutout to my twin, Nasus333! I posted in this thread because of you, and I will be very very sad when you are gone next year. :( |
Welcome--and cool angel in your signature!
|
Welcome to GC Josie! :)
