Tri-Chi?!?!?!?
My best friend, who is an AST at Radford University, was telling me about an off-campus sorority at her school called Tri-Chi (XXX). The stuff she described was horrifying -- I think the letters alone can give you an idea. My question is, if all of this is true (and I have no reason to doubt her; we've been best friends since we were 11, and she's never lied to me, plus as a journalist she's bound by facts!) -- and also, what does everyone else think of it? Why would someone want to join a GLO with that sort of connotation?
Thought this might make for interesting discussion... it really shocked me, and I am next to impossible to shock or offend! :) Anyone from Radford out there who can shed light on this? |
funny
thats really funny because last year at my old college, a group of guys formed their own fraternity named tri chi, but they weren't bad or anything.... i think they dissolved this year and are all now in different fraternities... ahhah
byebey xoxo |
That's funny. I remember couple of guys sportting Sigma Epsilon Chi shirts with Chapter 69 on the sleeve.
|
Haha...around here the porn store is called the "Tri-Chi" store.
|
When Clemson first allowed GLO's on campus, the very first local sorority created her was called Tri-Chi, which stood for (no lie!) Clemson's Cutest Co-eds. I learned this in my history of CU class, so I know for a fact it's true - how funny is that?
As for any X-rated goings on, I've never heard of any GLO's who did anything like that. That Radford group must be pretty sketchy...I doubt it's a true sorority. |
this is funny. i can se it now, a string of dirty-named GLO's...
Eta Omicron Epsilon, or HOE if you will. anyway, i'm just being random...i'm stuck in my universities language lab avoinding my italian. |
They're real!! They have lavaleirs and everything. I heard pledging there is harder than the on campous sororities, but I think most of the sexual stuff is rumors because of their letters looking like XXX.
|
I think it's too dag-on funny. Girls wear Playboy & Hustler shirts and stuff, why not XXX? I do have a problem with the sexual favor stuff but the letters alone are funny.

OMG! I have heard of XXX before. One of my sisters went to visit a friend at another school and they had xxx. she couldn't believe what she heard and what she saw them do. she thought there was only one chapter, but i guesss there are more. this stuff is wild.

OMG!!
I just had to laugh when I read topic. Here in Arkansas at a strict Baptist College where they don't allow Fraternities and Sororities the students have established "social clubs" and guess what...one of them is Tri-Chi! In fact, from what I hear it is one of the "elite" ones on campus for the girls. But tell me how ironic it is that they walk around the strict campus wearing letter shirts with XXX on it and they don't allow nat'l greek orgs? Just a thought;)

Last spring at Sigma Chi Derby Days there was a team of independents/former sorority memebers called Tri-Chi. Their team jerseys had three 'X's on it vertically thru the words rules, dues, and drama. Basically meaning, No Rules , No Dues, No Drama.
|
Oh, wow, I want to join! NOT!! :p
|
Resurrecting another oldie
Just happened to be looking into this stuff. LOL! I'm really amazed that a Baptist college that specifically has "social clubs" so as not to have "fraternities and sororities" has one fraternity in shirts that say "Playboy 2004" and the fraternity's letters.
Wow! What's the point of limiting national groups then? |

I remember in an issue of The Teke they mentioned a TKE colony that was going by the name of Tri Chi...

I suppose the straightedger should mention something here.
XXX is also used by people who are Straightedge. A *very* brief rundown of Straightedge. 1985- Minor Threat frontman Ian McKay writes a song called "Straightedge", with the words "I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't f**k, at least I can f***ing think." This set off a counter culture movement in the hardcore scene in which people don't drink, smoke, do drugs or engage in promiscuous sex. It became synonymous with veganism, but veganism/vegetarianism is up to the individual. The drinking, smoking, drugs thing is the most important. Straightedgers use X's on their hands as a way to identify eachother and as a way to signify their non-drinking status (x's were (are) used in bars to mark non drinkers). The three X's stand for no drinking, no smoking, no drugs. So it's just another connotation to think about. Also, I've heard in some places, Straightedgers using "Sigma Chi Epsilon" *sXe* either as a real fraternity or as a crew name (don't worry about it). sXe is sort of short hand for Straightedge. |
Tri-Chi at Radford
Here is the webpage for them
http://www.geocities.com/trichisorority/xxx.html Looks real to me. Randy Finder |
My first thought after reading the original post was that this was some kind of fake sorority for some website.....like "sorority house gone wild" or something like that  . But from their website and from what some of the other posters wrote, it looks like they're an actual sorority. Kinda suprised.

Tri-Chi at Radford gets a pretty undeserved rep. The ones I knew were awesome. :)

Yep, I've actually heard of Tri-Chi in regards to being a local at several universities...

OK, so XXX seems out of place for a Southern Baptist sorority.
But being from Arkansas, we do all kinds of odd things. Did you know there's a KKK at Harding University? (it's a Church of Christ University) To me that's just as odd as a triple X. |
I am ROTFLMAO at this picture!!!
Click here. I'm not good at putting pictures in posts. From a REDDIE alum (that means I went to the public university across the street from Ouachita Baptist, home of XXX)...this pose is just too funny. Maybe it's early or something.... I didn't know there was a KKK at Harding!! I thought all of their groups didn't have Greek letters or anything like that. PsychTau |
So it's co-ed?
-Rudey |
No - they let men (beaux/sweethearts/whatever) wear their letters and join in their events.
|
The official name of the social group at Harding is Tri Kappa, but they have some shirts with KKK on them (or they did several years back when I dated a guy who went there for a semester)
|
I always thoght Tri-Chi at OBU was hilarious. Come on you know they had to be thinking of that when they made of the "social club" ofcourse I don't know how old they are so I gues it's possible that didn't. If it was before the 50's I suppose it could have been over looked.
Hey Dixie, you wouldn't happen to be a former pageant contestant. |

there is AKA Zeta Phi Beta (sortof, unless that one girl left) SGR DST XXX and Chi Upsilon Zeta, it looks like. |
I live in VA and one of my sister's biological little sister's was a Tri-Chi. Apparently they horribly hazed their new members. I was disgusted- it reminded me of a lifetime movie I saw on sororities.
