Labor day and White Clothing
Where do you live and do you wear white clothing (not just a shirt or accent) after Labor Day
|
Please excuse my grammatical error which cannot be edited. Each option should have had the word principal instead of principle.

Mine may be a little skewed-- I voted North and NO as I live in the north now-- however grew up in the South and think that maybe that might skew my thoughts-- I wouldn't want my mamma yelling at me or my grandmother's rolling over in their graves if I "busted out" in white :-) either way its a definite NO for me :-)

I don't, but I'm also not tempted to, because we don't have a lot of summer weather up here in September. If I lived somewhere hot that wasn't the South (Vegas, Phoenix, Miami), I would probably own a lot more summer clothes and wear them whenever they felt right, including white things. However, I wouldn't do that in Atlanta/New Orleans/Houston, because when in Rome.

Seriously? With all that is going on in today's world, we are talking about wearing white after Labor Day?
Are. You. Kidding. Me? Have fun rearranging the deck chairs, ladies. |

Yep, I wear white jeans till at least the end of September since it's still hot. If I lived in the South - I'd wear them year round! I have white corduroys for winter, too, but I'm going to retire them since they are getting old. I have other friends who wear white jeans year round as well.

I have summer suits and winter suits... I never used Labor Day as the day of demarcation though. Just some suits of lighter material and some of heavier wool.
Suited up every day though.. 'cept weekends. |
I wear white or not judging by whether the weather feels summery enough and warm enough outside to warrant white. Clemson in September? Sure, wear white, it's probably still 75 degrees and sunny out. New England in December? If I wore white I would disappear into the snow and be declared a missing person.
|
White shorts through September at least. Shoot it's probably still 100 degrees and I forget it's after labor day.
|
I have tried to wear white after Labor Day, and the only times I've managed to do so were 1) When I got married, and 2) When I wear a white fur coat I own.
Before y'all get crazy, I inherited the coat - those are long dead pelts. |

I voted Southern/No, but to be perfectly honest…aside from shirts, I don't wear a lot of white anyway, and I usually accessorize it with color (a scarf or something). I think the only non-shirt white clothing outfit item I have is the skirt I wore for my own initiation.
ETA> This is all to say that I'm of the opinion that if one feels comfortable wearing white, one should do so regardless of what anyone else says, or what time of year it is, or where they live. |
