Mothman Prophecies!

Go see it! I saw it last night, it was a good flick.

SigkapAlumWSU 01-28-2002 02:11 AM

I keep seeing the previews on TV.. is it ask mysterious and exciting as it looks?

justamom 01-28-2002 03:09 PM

I REALLY want to see this. I think it was either A&E or the History channel that did a show on the Moth Man the other night and inserted clippings from the movie. They also had interviews from people who had been witnesses as well as the writer.

Did they use the incidents in the small town with the waste site? Don't want to say too much and spoil it for anyone.

We never go to the movies so I'll have to wait for the video.

kimmykimmy 01-28-2002 03:33 PM

So eerie! I was JUST about to start a new thread asking someone to please tell me details of the movie.

I AM DYING TO KNOW what the movie is about and what happens.

I come undone with scary movies so I don't see them but really want to know the details of the movie.

Can someone PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE WITH A CHERRY ON TOP tell me what the story is?

Thanks.

AOPiLaLa 01-28-2002 03:39 PM

I agree, Kimmy Kimmy!! Can someone PLEASE just give a basic desription of the movie??? I think I want to go see it on a date but I don't want to be jumping out into the guy the whole time(hmmmm......on the other hand : ) But please someone just give us a few details!!

DST Love 01-30-2002 11:22 AM

My boyfriend and I saw it the other night and we both hated. It started off really good but then took you nowhere.

KillarneyRose 08-31-2003 08:06 PM

Wow! I just caught this movie on HBO and it was SO scary; I loved it! I do not scare easily but I think I'll be snuggling up close to Mr. KillarneyRose tonight

Rio_Kohitsuji 08-31-2003 09:17 PM

I don't need to see the movie.....because it happened RIGHT ACROSS the river from me in Point Pleasant (in the movie you'll see "Gallipolis" insignias, that's my city). Seriously, the Silver Bridge is about 50 feet from my driveway. You know the couple's story they based this one? Well, the man worked w/my dad during the time that "mothman" came alive..all I'm going to say is when I asked my dad if that guy was truth ful or not he said, "Well honey, let me put it this way, he didn't talk much and when he did talk, you should listen." Take that as you will. :p
Plus the TNT plant where "Mothman" was born is still there..and if you're caught near it you're in deep doo-doo...not saying I've ever been there..

To add more trivia about this...my father was on the bridge 15 minutes before it fell, weird shit eh? My mom lost a few friends also.. :( Heh..my parent's still have the clippings from the event...and yes..the movie did screw up some events..

Meet my neighbor Mr.Mothman, Kayla

The1calledTKE 08-31-2003 09:22 PM

I agree it was a great movie. Amazing to think all that is true.

justamom 08-31-2003 10:41 PM

There are so many things in this world that we will never witness...will never understand.

TKE209Sweethrt, I honestly would love to be in proximity to something like that, in the sense of investigating & learning. Thank goodness your family was not involved.

I finally saw the movie and it was very good.
The research made it even more cryptic!

AchtungBaby80 08-31-2003 11:56 PM

Forget the movie...if you really want to get scared, try reading about the real story! There's probably lots of info on the internet about it.

The internet info is great! The Movie leaves out a lot. But then, that's Hollywood.

FiReKraCkEr 09-01-2003 12:14 AM

This movie freaked me OUT!! I dont think I went over a B***** for a month after I saw it...

Yeah, I love Hollywood. They really know how to conect with us people with short attention spans. :)

Did the mothman simply disappear from Point Pleasant?

Yeah...well, for all intents and purposes. People still claim to see it from time to time, but nothing like what went on in the 60s. It, or he, or whatever, has been seen in other locales, too...usually right before something bad happens. Accounts of this thing go way, way back--some groups of Indians have legends about a "thing" similar to this.

James 09-01-2003 02:38 PM

It would be kind of cool to see the mothman wouldn't it? Like be able to hear his predictions?

lawryn 09-01-2003 02:39 PM

If that's the reason, that is one rotten teacher.

You should start a thread, lawryn! I love to read about that sort of thing and I know a lot of other GreekChatters do, too! :)

Typical HollyWeird, not much of a closure! Just dont see them anymore in Mt. Pleasent!:( OOOEEEE:rolleyes:

Is there many things out there that we do not know about, damn bettu!:)

"SHIT"!:o

Who did build the Pryamids? Not just the ones in Egypt. What about the pixs of "Space Looking men"?

How about the Spook light in N. Ok.?

Hmm, are we really the only ones out there in Real life?

Easter Island, Bemuda Triangle, Atlantis, Arkansas, Nessie?

If only Sherlock Holmes was still alive! Well instead of living in a Pub on North Umberland in London! ;)

Funny, was at a drive-in one night saw some strange lights in the sky! Got out of My Beetle car with a .357 Magnum and was going to take them out! Turned out to be Army Helios in Formation! Well was practice, I would have got killed!;)

As a local, I'll tell you what has been told to me. Basically after the Silver Bridge fell he simply disappeared. People say he's been at the TNT plant ever since and some say he hopped on his spaceship and flew away. *shrugs* Here's another tidbit that'll make you cry, when the bridge fell there was an ambulance on the way to the hospital w/a woman in labor :( I still may have some pics of the river sweep they did..I'm going to see if I can steal them from my dad to scan them in.

Do some research on Point Pleasant..it's quite interesting. Back in the Civil War (I think that was the time period) Cheif Cornstalk placed a curse on the land so it would not grow and prosper as it should. From that time on it has a HORRID economy, people continue to leave and well...by now it should be huge, but it's a ghost town of sorts. Funny thing is, right across the river in in Gallipolis we're thriving. Funny things those curses are :p
