Sorors Meet and Greet Convention 2002 Style

Sorors, in FOUR MONTHS the first of you will be arriving in Atlanta for the 46th National Convention of Delta SIgma Theta Sorority Incorporated. To say that I'm excited is an understatement. :D

I've taken a look at the schedule as printed in the Call to Convention. The best time for us to meet is Saturday July 20 from 12pm to 2:30pm. It's on the schedule as lunch on your own. Sorors, I need each of you who is intersted in attending to RSVP so logistics can be worked out. My e-mail address is crimson_cream12@hotmail.com.

I look forward to hearing from you & seeing you soon. :)

mccoyred 03-18-2002 11:41 AM

Well, I wasn't in Chi-town but I WILL be in HotLanta. I have already registered and everything! When and where?

pebbles_6 03-18-2002 06:01 PM

Soror Kelli,

I sent you an email, but just wanted all to know that I'm so psyched about my 1st convention and the chance to meet all GC Sorors (or any ATL GC SFs).

It's gonna be off the hook! I'm road trippin' with my line sisters and we're ready to paint the town...you know the rest! :)

OOOOOOO-OOOOOOOOOOP!

Pebbles

12dn94dst 03-18-2002 08:14 PM

i'm still excited!!

:D

FYI, I volunteered to help with Registration & greeting Sorors @ the airport so be on the look out for me.

CT4 had a suggestion. Taking into consideration that some Sorors my not be able to meet after the Formal Opening, we could also meet after the Ecumenical Service on Sunday or maybe after the step show Saturday night (@ Waffle House of course http://www.plaudersmilies.de/happy/roflmao.gif)

Stay tuned to this thread for locations & updated times. ;)

or maybe after the step show Saturday night (@ Waffle House of course http://www.plaudersmilies.de/happy/roflmao.gif)

But, of course, we would have to go to that IHOP first to wait for hours and encounter some of the less than desirable elements of ATL and then go to WAFFLE HOUSE to watch the SUN RISE. :p

korkscru 04-01-2002 01:00 PM

Many of my line sisters and I are also looking forward to our FIRST convention. And since we are BRAND SPANKING NEW in the Sisterhood, we are planning to live it up in Atlanta in July. I'm PERSONALLY looking forward to meeting my new sorors (and fellow GreekChat Sisters...and Brothers) from all over. So just let us know the WHERE and the WHAT TIME... we ALREADY know the HOW. :D :D

Update #1

OK Sorors, I believe I have a location determined to have lunch after the opening on Saturday morning. And if y'all think I'm playing about the Waffle House on Saturday night, be hungry after the step show! ;) :p

I'm trying to think of other places to meet for Sunday morning that are close by & easy to get to, even if it's for nothing more than quick hugs & a quick picture.

Thank you to the Sorors who have already responded. For those who asked, there's nothing more you need to do at this point. I'll be making updates either on this thread or via e-mail.

For planning's sake, I'm asking all Sorors who are planning to meet with us for lunch on Saturday to respond here or via e-mail by June 30.

Virtual Violet 04-06-2002 12:37 AM

I'll make a note of it!!

PS: Pebbles, bring an EXTRA SUITCASE for all the SHOPPING you NEOS will do!!:) ;)

Soror,
You sound like me back in 96--I'm very tight with a buck but when I was a NEO at my first conference (97) you wouldn't known it. I know I wasted some money but it's a once in a while feeling.
I look forward to Atlanta since it's my first National Conference and I'm looking forward to our Greekchat meeting!

DirectorDST99 04-20-2002 05:54 AM

Kelli, thanks for stepping up and doing this. I'm sure you will be the hostess with the "mostest"!

I'm excited! I'm even more excited that I will be just some hours away and can finally drive to a Convention.

Sorors!

I would love to attend any event you guys are planning, however since I'm Delegate for my chapter, and this is my first convention, chances are I won't be able to do too much. But as soon as the time and place is set, I can always page my Alternate ;) and try to attend.

I was the delegate in 98 in N'awlins.

Don't be late to any plenaries.
You will get great presents though -- that is the best. I still have a lot of my presents.

The plenaries were some of the best I had ever witnessed. Sorors kept me filled with knowledge.

I'll Be There

MsPriss_#22,

You know I'll be there. I'm already registered, got my plane ticket, and hotel room is PAID IN FULL.

I am sad to say that I am no longer a member of Iota Pi though. I graduated from Florida International University- MAGNA CUM LAUDE- last week on April 30th.

Actually, six sorors in our chapter graduated. So, some of us will be representing Dade County Alumnae from now on. Of course, we'll still love Iota Pi dearly though.

So, hit me on e-mail at jarenae@miami.edu so we can all hook up again. My birthday is Sunday, July 21st. I'll add you to my list of invited attendees for the celebration that night. I'm making plans with family in HotLanta to find out where is the best spot for the party!!!!!

What Would I Do Without My Sorors???????????

Soror 12dn94dst,

That is a great idea about the celebration in my room. That way, I would probably end up with a huge circle for Sweetheart song. There would be sorors all down the hall. OK! OK! I'm toooooooooooo hyped. Thanks for that idea. Never thought about that.

Soror Mccoyred,
Of course you can celebrate with me. We can have Sorors sing the sweetheart song to all the Sorors born in July. My reservations are with the Wyndham Atlanta. No room number yet, of course. Where are you gonna be? But, I'll meet everyone at the meet and great. I'll be the little short soror passing out flyers for the July B-day Jam.

I hope the Wyndham won't kick me out. I'll call and ask them about it.

Now yall got me all excited again!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HHMMMMM.....I dunno.....Sorors, what do y'all think??
Because I'm saying, if we're gonna celebrate July & August, we may as well celebrate September, with specific emphasis on 9/30 (my 29th). AND if we're gonna celebrate July, August & September (30th), we may as well do October. And if we do...aw heck, let's just get together & celebrate LIFE & DELTA & SISTERHOOD!! That's always a good reason to party! :D

earthchild1913 05-06-2002 11:18 PM

DELTA LOVE

I am so thrilled that so many of us are so anxious to meet each other at this year's National. All of this sisterhood makes me know why I chose this sorority. But anywho, I am there for whatever destination we agree upon. I can't wait to meet everyone! Peace and Blessings

>In an effort to prevent others from using Delta's name and reputation for personal gain, we are asking that all Sorors unite together and make it a point not to support events that are not connected to the convention. The committee in charge of entertainment for the National Convention has gone to great lengths to make sure our Sorors are treated like royalty when they come to the National Convention. For $20 you can purchase a VIP card that will get you into any of the sponsored events free until 11pm and half priced after 11pm. You don't have to wait in line with the general public because Delta's will have VIP access all night long at sponsored events. Some venues even provide one complimentary drink. We offer discounts with the taxi companies that will make sure you get back and forth to the events safely. We have several events each night depending on your preference. In addition to the regular club scene we will even provide events for Sorors not quite 21 and thir!
>tysomethings. Non-sponsored events will certainly not have these benefits. Best of all portion of the proceeds goes directly back to the sorority, unlike events hosted by non sponsors who use our name and retain 100% of the profits. There have even been some of our very own Sorors who are using the convention as an opportunity for personal gain and will try to throw events that conflict with our events, thus taking revenue from the sorority.

>Spread the word....Forward this to everyone you know who is attending the convention. You don't have to be registered to enjoy the night life Atlanta has to offer and it is a wonderful way for the registered delegates to unwind at night after a day of business sessions. We have a signed contract with club promoter Metro Boyz Entertainment. They have rolled out the "RED" carpet for us to make sure we have a great time while convening in Atlanta. Look for their logo on all promotional material you may see. Tell every Delta you know...NO LOGO...DON'T GO.
