11 NPC groups represented and no duplicates so far! Would love to see a sorority woman win!

And, once again, I search for the LIKE button!

LXA SE285 06-04-2014 02:15 PM

Miss Alabama USA, Jesica Ahlberg, says she's Greek on her LinkedIn profile but doesn't say which group.

azureblue 06-04-2014 02:19 PM

I did a quick search on Jessica Ahlberg, and Gamma Phi Beta is coming up. Can any Gamma Phi's confirm?

dzandiloo 06-04-2014 03:43 PM

Miss Texas USA 2014 - Lauren Guzman - Delta Zeta

There She Is, Miss NPC Sorority...

als463 06-04-2014 06:29 PM

Possible GLO duplicates

If what I found was right, then there are more sorority women in the Miss USA 2014 pageant. For those of you in these respective organizations, please feel free to verify this information. If I'm correct, it looks there may finally be some duplicates of GLOs to add to the list.

Miss Alabama-Gamma Phi Beta
Miss Alaska-Gamma Phi Beta
Miss California- Alpha Omicron Pi
Miss Colorado-Gamma Phi Beta
Miss Connecticut- Zeta Tau Alpha
Miss Kentucky-Sigma Kappa
Miss West Virginia-Kappa Kappa Gamma

I don't think Miss Kentucky is a Sigma Kappa, although there is a SK in the competition.

Eleanna Livaditis, Miss Colorado, is Greek, as in her family is from Greece. She is a graduate of the University of Wyoming, so there is a possibility she belongs to a GLO. I just wish they would put the info in their bios.

ChioLu 06-04-2014 07:22 PM

I believe Miss Oklahoma, Brooklynne Young, is a KKG at OU.
Her bio on this pageant website lists that she's involved with the Kappa Book Drive, but doesn't directly state she's a Kappa.
Miss Oklahoma, whether is for Miss USA or Miss America, is almost always Greek.

Loved her bio!

Had a frisson of excitement, though, when I read that she had run for Pitt's Homecoming Queen, but the ADPi candidate won. I'll still be routing for my Panhellenic sister!

azureblue 06-05-2014 09:45 AM

Thanks everyone! I checked on these, and could only confirm Miss Oklahoma for sure. As for the others:

Miss Alabama-Gamma Phi Beta - possible, couldn't find any info
Miss Alaska-Gamma Phi Beta - no Gamma Phi chapter at University of Alaska
Miss California- Alpha Omicron Pi - no AOPi chapter at SDSU
Miss Colorado-Gamma Phi Beta - no Gamma Phi chapter at University of Wyoming
Miss Connecticut- Zeta Tau Alpha - possible, couldn't find any info
Miss Kentucky-Sigma Kappa - possible, couldn't find any info
Miss West Virginia-Kappa Kappa Gamma - possible, couldn't find any info

I have a post about the contestants as well as past Miss USA/Miss Universe winners who are sorority women.

http://wp.me/p20I1i-1eY

I've started a post about the Miss America 2015 contestants and will be updating it as the information becomes available. Of the handful of state contestants who have been chosen for that contest, two are sorority women, a Tri Delta and an Alpha Sigma Alpha. http://wp.me/P20I1i-1eS

Ya, I don't think Alabama, Alaska or Colorado are Gamma Phis. I checked on our website, and their names aren't coming up. I think Miss Iowa's bio information is popping up in searches for the other contestants because of all the websites with consolidated contestant info.

HQWest 06-05-2014 10:31 AM

Miss Alabama USA is an Auburn alumna, but I am not seeing anything saying that she is a sorority woman.

SoCalGirl 06-05-2014 01:10 PM

Based on my searches I think Miss Kentucky is not a Sigma Kappa. I don't think she's greek at all.

eta: There is a sister from Kentucky with the same last name. When I image searched it looked to be a different girl. Possibly related though since the name is fairly unique.

catfan 06-05-2014 04:04 PM

Miss Ky 2012, Jessica Casebolt, (MAO not USA), is a Sigma Kappa at Georgetown College, Ky

gaangel5 06-05-2014 08:11 PM

Miss Connecticut is not a Zeta. I couldn't find her in the sister search.

honeychile 06-06-2014 03:07 PM

Miss Pennsylvania, Valerie Gatto, is definitely a Pitt Tri-Sigma. She's on today's Inside Edition.

azureblue 06-06-2014 03:27 PM

It looks like we have 13 confirmed sorority women from 13 different NPC groups! I will be rooting for one of them to take the crown!

NutBrnHair 06-06-2014 07:27 PM

I just don't get as excited about Miss USA as I do for Miss America. Maybe it's because of Donald Trump, maybe because the contestants don't compete in "talent," or maybe because it's not a scholarship pageant. That being said, the NPC angle will be a fun reason to watch and of course, if Miss Delaware wins, I'll be over the moon!

I agree completely but I'll be rooting for Miss South Carolina and Miss Texas.

Yes! Though I wish they would take the swimsuit portion out of Miss America. I don't see it's purpose and I don't buy in to the " it's a way to tell if they take care of their bodies, blah blah blah." You can tell that by their confidence and how they look in regular clothes/evening wear.

ukdzccd 06-08-2014 10:47 AM

For Miss Kentucky...There is a Miss - something that is/was an ADPi at UK, however I am not sure if she is the USA or America pageant system and she may have been the 2013 contestant and not 2014.

azureblue 06-08-2014 12:54 PM

Miss Kentucky 2013 is Jenna Day. She competed in the Miss America pageant last year and is an Alpha Delta Pi from UK.

Sister Havana 06-08-2014 08:42 PM

Wow. Can there be any more filler in the middle of announcing the semifinalists?

Xidelt 06-08-2014 08:54 PM

Seriously! Just cut the crap and announce the finalists! I feel bad for all of the contestants standing there on camera in their heels.

Sister Havana 06-08-2014 09:14 PM

I know! It's now been an hour and fifteen minutes and they JUST finished announcing all the top 20 semifinalists. Sheesh! Do it in one segment - maybe two.

azureblue 06-08-2014 09:15 PM

Over an hour in, and we finally have the Top 20! NPC women still in it:

Miss Arizona - Jordan Wessel - Kappa Alpha Theta
Miss Indiana - Mekayla Diehl - Delta Gamma
Miss Iowa - Carlyn Bradarich - Gamma Phi Beta
Miss Louisiana – Brittany Guidry - Delta Delta Delta
Miss Nebraska - Amanda Soltero - Alpha Chi Omega
Miss Oklahoma - Brooklynne Young - Kappa Kappa Gamma
Miss Pennsylvania - Valerie Gatto - Sigma Sigma Sigma
Miss South Carolina - Christina Zapolski - Alpha Delta Pi

nyapbp 06-08-2014 09:16 PM

If my math skills don't fail me, 8 of the Top 20 are sorority women. And azureblue and I were typing at the same time!
