Schools

While you may not want to put your true you on thread, it would be nice if you listed your SCHOOLS!!!!!
This way we can at least have an idea of the area you are from as different parts of the country do things just a little bit different!
That is if you are proud enough to say what school you are from!
I for one am proud to have come from a state (Kansas) where there are two schools with unique Mascots.

Pittsburg State U. Kansas - Gorillas
University of Kansas - Jayhawks
Let us all see it!!!!!!

I am from IUP. Indiana University of Pennsylvania. We are not affiliated with the state of Indiana or Indiana University whatsoever, just located in Indiana, PA. We are the largest of the 14 states schools in PA and the fifth largest university in PA. 16 fraternities, 11 sororities, and our mascot is different than our nickname. We are the IUP Indians, but our mascot is Cherokee, a black bear. Just a little info about IUP.

I am a proud alumna of the University of Pittsburgh (Go Panthers!!).

BTW, SigTauJake, whenever I see someone wearing a sweatshirt that says "Indiana" on it, I always assume that it is IUP no matter what part of the country I am in! Guess that comes with growing up in Pittsburgh!

University of Hawaii at Manoa
Honolulu, HI

This is where it gets tricky with the mascots:
Football, Men's Basketball & Volleyball-Hawaii Warriors
All women's sports-Rainbow Wahine
Baseball & other men's sports-Rainbow Warriors

Since the early 1920s UH was known as the Rainbows, and then here comes June Jones and he decides to change the mascot for the football team and naturally the Hawaiian population protests, calling the mascot "racist and derogatory". Other mens teams followed suit, but many others kept the names they had for years.

The rainbow logo is gone...so now we have an "H" with the traditional Polynesian kapa print on all UH paraphenalia. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/mad.gif

I think her point is well taken from the standpoint that that info could potentially be used against someone -- we have seen people on here go to the extremes of "hunting" people down and harassing them. Which is why I don't put any personal info on here other than I'm in the South.

Tom Earp 05-21-2001 05:20 PM

Well if the insecrity is that rampant then I stand corrected!
Now if you can explain how in the Hell some nut case is going to come up with who they are with a AKA (Alias) on this site then I will be happy to agree with you! I do not want to know their personell life or their sexu-all ( For the South) tendencies.
I am an ex detective and have some idea of how hard it is to trace someone. Of course if you want to get into what Big Brother is doing, I can give you an earfull!
It is my Damn Bad Hair Day if you like!!!!!!!
If they are hiding from somthing, then they do not have to put any info out!
Sometimes it is easier to ride a horse than a broom! The dumbest question is the one never asked! I am proud of who I am are YOU!
OOPs just slipped of of the soap box as slipped on the soap.

I agree. As many of us GC regulars have seen in the past few months, there are a lot of strange people on the web who will find out info about you and use it against you. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif

Hi Juniorgrrl! That's great about your friend! Next time you talk to her, ask her if she hung out at Peter's Pub and Mitchell's and if she liked Primanti's sandwiches! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif I graduated in 1989 so I'm sure there have been tons of changes since then. I don't think I am familiar with APO; is it a local?

BTW, I visited a friend at LSU back in my college days and by the time I left I had an inferiority complex! You girls are all so gorgeous and sweet down in the Big Easy!

I must say, Tom - I don't know how you ended up going down this road, but based on the flames you've thrown my way, in MY opinion, you are a hypocrite. You blast me for even daring to type on this board, and then you go and turn around my point of view to mean that I must not be proud of who I am. You have no idea what kind of hell I have already been put through by certain stalkers on this board. Not to mention others who have had their real names and emails posted all over other boards.

Its not that hard to find out who someone is - especially when they don't/didn't attend a UCLA or a Michigan State. Just ask some of the DST's or AKA's on here who have tracked people down because they were being foolish on a public message board.

Ask your question - I never said "you can't ask that" -- I simply agreed with local after you jumped her because I think (especially for women) that safety should be number 1.

At least I can base my opinions on facts and not the condition of my hair on a particular day!

(Oh by the way - you found me out -- I am in hiding -- I was the 2nd gunman on the grassy knoll!)
