just wanna say congrats to my big AlphaGamDiva on getting a new dog, dogs are the greatest! i know she's excited! it should make things interesting with her roomie,ilovemyglo's cat george, interesting but entertaining;)

but since we're on the topic, did you know that greeklawgirl (Maria) has a cute chiuanua named Pumpkin? :)

I was just going to share my news about Pumpkin, Nina! lol :p I think I've found her a vet around here...she'll be going in for her shots, a teeth cleaning, and tying the tubes.

For the girls who weren't there...I had to leave the chat rather suddenly last night when she went into heat, and all hell broke loose! :eek: It was actually VERY funny, but I think you had to *be there*! :D

BTW, Pumpkin is doing fine. Its Sean who had the nervous breakdown! :p

Okay Maria-- on another thread you said that your hubby, Sean, has a digital cam. So you have NO excuse-- I want pics of Pumpkin soon!! :D

An additional request of Pumpkin in a squirrel suit would be fab, but a regular picture will be just fine. lol ;)

LOL, poor Pumpkin had an extremely difficult day yesterday! When I left yesterday morning, everything was fine. But evidently, when Sean got up to go to work he saw Pumpkin shivering.

So what does he do? The logical thing would be to put her sweater on her.

But everyone knows that logic does not apply to men at 7 o'clock in the morning. Instead, Sean puts the heat on. He puts in on "high." And then...he leaves and forgets to turn the heat OFF!

So I get home, 10 hours later, and the place is like an OVEN. I mean, its 95 degrees in there if anything! At first, I thought we had a gas leak or something! And then I notice that Pumpkin is not waiting at the door for me, like she usually is when I come home.

So I go looking for her, and what do I see? She is on the couch, belly and all four legs up, with her tongue hanging out! :eek: I nearly died. So I scooped her up and ran her outside so she could get some fresh air. Poor thing needed about 10 minutes to finally come around to normal.

I opened up all the windows and ran the fans, and it STILL took about an hour to get the apartment to a bearable temperature. Sean is lucky he wasn't home at the time--because I would have shot him on sight!

My poor puppy nearly became a souffle! Between that and going into heat, its a miracle she doesn't need doggie Prozac!

Poor Pumpkin!

That description of her on her back with her tongue out sounds like a cartoon!!

Anyways, I'm glad you got home in time!! :)

So Monica got the dog home yesterday and it refuses to pee or poop anywhere (including outside) except our living room. And my cat, George, hates him, so he keeps hissing and swatting at him. It gets kinda funny. Plus the dog smells and we can't bathe him cause they just cut his sac off. Two weeks of this smell until we can bathe him... it ought to get interesting!

Oh Maria, I would like you to know that I am in the computer lab laughing by myself right now! Glad Pumpkin is okay!

Pumpkin came with me to my Junior Circle meeting, and of course, she was a big hit! Just letting all of you know that you will have to share her with the Los Angeles JC as a mascot.

Oh, and Leslie, don't you just HATE it when you're sitting there laughing by yourself? Unfortunately, I do it fairly often, so I've gotten used to the funny looks by other people. ;)

The "overheating Pumpkin" story is the funniest story I've heard in a long time. I am also sitting at work laughing by myself. How old is Pumpkin? Gracie is 12 weeks old & I'm wondering when I can expect her to start going into heat. I'm planning on having her fixed but I don't know when to do it. (I'm asking the vet tomorrow.)

Jen, according to her former owner, Pumpkin is 2 years old. I was shocked that she hadn't fixed the dog yet, because that is one of the first things my family does when we get our pets!

IIRC, the only time you can't fix a dog is when they are in heat. I think you need to wait until that's over and done with.

poor pumpkin...but i swear i had to stop myself from laughing out loud with the visual of all 4's up in the air. too funny! :)

and in defense of my poor dog...yes, he is a lil odiferous, but in a week he'll be fine. he's getting a lil' better about the bathroom being an outdoor experience...but it is an everyday struggle i am not used to. but seriously, you have NEVER smelled gas like the gas this dog emits...wooooooooooooooo! that has to be the worst thing so far...ppl will be on our couch, and then one by one they kinda groan and pull their shirts up over their noses. it's embarrassing, but what can he do? when ya got gas, ya got gas. he is a good dog, though...very loving. i got him from the humane society, and we think he wasn't really treated very well by his previous owner, but he's trying. george has gotten used to him now, though, and has quit hissing. he now plays with him and does this "thriller" move across the carpet when benny walks in the room. he gets up on his hind legs with his front legs up in the air and runs across the floor. it is the most hilarious thing ever!!! so, everytime he does that, i sing, "and this is thriller!"...our house...it's a zoo.

i have to defend poor ole stinky little benny. he just th ecutest little thing and it's not his fault he has such bad gas, but i have to say that those are some of the stinkiest dog farts i hae evr smelled in my entire life! and the smell fills the whole room and ou have to walk outsinde and take a moment to breath some non-toxicated air!!! but he is just absolutly precious and sweet as can be, and i might have to take him for the summer while monica is away at bootcamp:( my dad says no but my mom is trying to talk him into it, she wants pictures!!!
