West Virginia...
 

Is there a University of West Virginia or just a West Virginia University? I searched the internet, on aol, and could only find WVU...nothing about UWV. Someone, anyone?

***I know this seems like an odd question, but I even searched a page with the listings of all WV colleges and universities and didn't find one. That just seems odd to me.

hey shop girl, to my knowledge, not 100% sure though I don't think there is a UWV, The really big school in West Virginia is WVU mounatiners. I know a lot of the colleges in WV are in cojunction with WVU, like Pot State in Keyser and some other ones. But WVU is an awesome school. Hope that helped

My mother told me that my cousin was going to UWV, so when I looked it up (so I could check out the greek system of course), I didn't find anything.

PiBetaPhi - OMG - do you know how odd it is to me (I'm 30+) to hear someone say there is nothing to do at WVU? That used to be party central back in the day....

From what I've heard, it still is party central. My boyfriend has a friend that goes there, and they talk about all the crazy parties that go on there.

i meant there is nothing in the town of morgantown to do anything. it's boring. i looked at the school and i thought "argh"

Not a whole lot to do there???? Have you ever been? Morgantown is the stereotypical college town. Oh, and it is only West Virginia University, there is no University of West Virginia. Although it seems that whenever there is someone from WVU on Jeopardy, Alex Trebek calls it Univ. of WV!

I went to WVU for a semester, and I must say, there is PLENTY to do there (hence why I only went there a semester). It's very weird, everyone from WV knows that the name of the school is WVU, but out-of-staters always call it University of WV...

I'm going to WVU right now...and like someone said, a lot of people only go here for a semester.

During my freshman year in the dorms, when I came back from Winter break only about half my dorm did as well...the rest failed out. Walking down town, there is about 3 bars for every regular store.

Hee, I hear you on the name confusion. More than once, I've had to tell people I didn't go to the University of Indiana, because such a place does not exist. I went to Indiana University, which does. :D

Marshall University is also in West Virginia.

Oh yes.....Morgantown is huge on partying......

It's very hard not to get into the habit of going out everynight but you HAVE to avoid it if you wanna do good in school. I have a strict rule about only going out on the weekends....and the weekend starts on Friday for me not Thrusday.

I'm pretty sure that Morgantown is home to 130+ bars. A pretty large number considering the size of the town. And there's always a house party. Anyone whose been to Mo-town, has been to Grant St. That's the 24-7 party street. The whole reason WVU invented FallFest and SpringFest was to keep the Grant St. block party from happening. Of course there's some pretty awesome parties there regardless. :)

And of course "Frat Row" is always kickin'. I live right beside it. The boys are always outside chillin and stuff.

Everyone here is really nice too. We all kinda look out for each other. Like the other night my friend was hugging me and put his hands up my shirt and tried to unhook my bra (haha I know it sounds bad but he does it all the time and he's gay so it wasn't sexually) and a couple of guys come over to make sure I was ok. It's a good place to live and have fun. I love being a Mountaineer. Of course I'm somewhat biased since I'm a WV gal born and raised:)

Haha! At every football game they'll put a couple of choices on the big screen and one of them is always "Country Roads." Then we cheer for which one we want the band to play. I bet ya'll can guess what wins everyime.

Yeah, you all are right, there's just WVU and no UWV...and Morgantown is supposedly a big party place but it's not that, er, pretty of a town from what I hear.

There's a song about Morgantown to the tun of Rocky Top. I'll have to find it.

I vaguely remember visiting WVU and a party with honest to goodness white lightening. I thought I'd never eat again! :p

We get mason jars of moonshine and soak apples in it, then throw the apples in a blender with some ice-cream. It's pretty good, kind of like a mudslide, only a lot stronger.

My dad is from Beckley and all you ever hear up there is " Go to WVU and party...its awesome" Try going to Morehead State....we party in trailors and barns haha!!! but I love it!!! One bar that closes at 12 !!!!!

Hmmm, I keep meaning to head up to WVU to party with my PSP brothers there -- here's even more enticement! A girl I graduated with is in the PSP chapter there. They all call it "West By God Virginia" and it cracks me up.

Kayla0deegee, perhaps I'll have to make it out to Morehead sometime, too! There's a PSP chapter there, too...hmmm...road trips!!! :D

I must be having a brain freeze...but PSP? Who is that?
