Joey & Rachel/Friends
I was talking to my sister today and she said the Friends writers might be trying to get Joey and Rachel together. I've missed the past three or so weeks. What the heck is going on? What have I missed? Please inform. Thanks. :)

Last week Joey and Rachel went out on a date "just as friends" but when Joey went out on a date with another girl all he could think about was Rachel. The episode ended with Rachel sitting in Joey's lap watching Kujo and as he was comforting her of her fears he looked really freaked out. For this week the previews indicate that Joey is fantasizing about Rachel and being in love with her. Apparently Chandler (and maybe the others) finds out that he's in love with Rachel but I think this information will be overshadowed by the news of the sex of the baby.
Personally I want Rachel and Ross back together, but I don't know what will happen. Anyone have thoughts on this? |
Help...I am in Australia and MISSING OUT!
When I left North America, they kind of alluded that Rachel's baby is fathered by Ross (cuz he and Tag had the same red sweater and Tag had his and Ross had forgotten it at Rachel's place, presumably when he slept over).
Has the father of Rachel's baby been 100% confirmed by the show? Has it started up again in North America? Someone please tell me....they're talking about "The new Sex and the City" season here in Australia and it's the one that (HELLO PEOPLE) http://www.plaudersmilies.de/crying.gifhas already aired in North America (the season where Samantha experiments being a lesbian, Carrie dates pork-pie hat Musician guy, etc.) HELP! I am suffering from FRIENDS withdrawal!! http://www.plaudersmilies.de/crying.gif |
I can tell you that yes, Ross is the father. I haven't been watching the show recently though because I got sucked into Survivor. Now that Survivor is over, I'll be tuning into Friends this Thursday :)
|
Okay--for the sake of the baby, I want Rachel and Ross together. But if there was no baby--BRING ON RACHEL and JOEY!!! I have loved Joey this season and I think he and Rachel would work. But who knows--I guess thats why I keep watching
|
I think Joey and Rachel would be a great couple. The Ross/Rachel couple has been overdone and it is time for a new couple.
|
Ok, being a HUGE "friends" fan...(so much so that my fiance bought me the dvd boxset for xmas) i think joey and rachel getting together is pushing it, for godsake its his friends/her exhusbands baby she is carrying.
ross and rachel need to get back together and i bet she is having a girl. |
Glad to see you back maggieaxid. Hope you are in good health:)

HOOOOOWWW YAAAAAAA DOOOOOING?
I only watch reruns!:D |
Awww I love Joey. I want Joey!!! :p
But seriously, I used to think Ross and Rachel should get back together but Ross just annoys me now. I hope Joey and Rachel end up together. |
As stupid as I think Joey is, I think he'd be good for Rachel. I am sick of the whole Ross and Rachel thing...so over, so done! I think Rachel and Joey would be a whole new ballpark!
Hootie |
While Joe is DUM, Dam DUM, Ross is the epidity fo stupidity!! He is a whinney little moronic --------!
I always like Tom Selek and ?? (M)!:D ;) |
Wow!
Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply.
I have mixed feelings about the Joey/Rachel combo. In the eight or so years that "Friends" has been on, we've rarely (if ever) gotten to see Joey in a serious relationship or a serious situation at all. It might be kind of nice to see him have true feelings for someone instead of always being the player. On the other hand, it almost seems incestuous--perhaps not the best choice of terms--but... I guess what I mean to say is that the group is so close-knit, that the guys are almost like brothers and sisters. In a way it seems like they need to go outside of the immediate circle and bring in some fresh blood! Joey/Rachel sounds intriguing. It would certainly make for some interesting storylines, but it really seems like (if this were reality) Ross would in some way resent Joey for going after Rachel. Okay. I must tell myself these are not real people! I am analyzing this WAY too much. Nevertheless, I've spent all this time watching these "friends." It is interesting to speculate. ;) |
okay,
i think that joey and rachel would be a cute couple, but come on you guys....you know him and pheobe are like a match made in heaven. they are the ones that need to be together :D they are both idiots, and i just think it would be perfect. yes, him and rachel would look better together, but i think him and pheobe's personalities are way better together! |
Anyone love Joey?
I've really fallen in love with Joey this season! It was so sweet at the end of this week's ep. when Rachel walked out of the room and said, "Hi sweetie." And you hear his thoughts and he thinks: "I love you." It was sooo cute! :)
|
aw, I agree, I think that was adorable. I love Joey!!!
|
Kinda off the subject
I have a question for all you long term Friends fans
I know that Ross and Monica are brother and sister, Ross,Rachel, and Monica went to high school together, and that Chandler and Ross were roomates in college. So my question is how do Joey and Pheobe fit in? How did they meet and become friends with Ross,Monica, and Chandler p.s. I vote for Ross and Rachel getting back together |
Ok, Pheobe was Monica's roomate, (however, she was trying to secretly move out because monica was driving her nuts.). Rachel came into the scene when she left Barry at the alter and had to find someone in the city to stay with because she didn't want to go back home.
Joey was Chandler's second choice of roomate. His first roomate, (i cant remember his name) dated monica and when they broke up he got "phazed out", so he moved out leaving Chandler roomateless. Chandler then put an ad in the newspaper and was set on Joey as a roomate, but then some other guy who was a photographer for like victoria's secret or something came along. When the photographer dude went to move in Mr. Heckles, the annoying downstairs neighbor, ran into the guy in the hall and convinced him that Mr. Heckles was Chandler's new roomate. So thats how Chandler ended up with Joey. I am such a looser! I can't believe i know all this stuff!!!! |

Thanks Maggieaxid! I knew how Rachel and Monica ended up roommates. I just didn't know how Phoebe and Joey fit in the picture. So let me ask you another question....Did Phoebe and Monica have a long history like Monica and Rachel? I mean did Phoebe and Monica know each other before they became roomates. Thanks again! p.s You're not a loser! You're a dedicated Friends Fan! :D |
Did anyone catch this past week's Friends? I missed it!! Fill me in!
I think Ross and Rachel should get back together. It's kinda too wierd to think that Joey and Rachel would get together. I mean, she's pregnant with Ross's child! Too wierd! I heard that there won't be too many more seasons of Friends...anyone else heard similar rumors? OH, and I love Joey too! I think him and Phoebe would be a good couple! |
I love friends!! Have any of you noticed this glich though.....
I know that Monica and Rachel were friends in high school and Ross and Chandler were roommates in college. There are a couple of shows where its thanksgiving and ross and chandler come home for thanksgiving break.... so Rachel knows who Chandler is. Well then there is this one show, its like one of the first ones where Monica and Chandler are playing pool at the bar, before it turns into a coffee house and Monica introduces Rachel to Chandler as if they have never met!! It drives me crazy because later on in the shows they do that "flashback" to one of those thanksgivings where its obvious they knew each other! |
bucutie--I never noticed that. Maybe that was the pilot episode before the writers, etc. had worked out all of the details
I've heard that THIS is supposed to be the last season of Friends. Do you think it will be?? MaryMayXO (and to others that may have missed it)--to fill you in on the details of this last episode...Ross and Rachel find out that the baby is a girl :) They wanted to have the sex be a surprise but Rachel snuck a look at her chart. She didn't see anything but Ross didn't believe her. They had been arguing over wacky baby names during the entire episode and Ross thought Rachel was using reverse psychology by accepting his "girl" name. So he finds out from the doctor what the sex is and then surprises her by telling her he knows that it's a girl. Chandler discovers the "art" of taking a bath. (A few funny lines there). Chandler and Monica figure out that Joey is in love with one of the friends. They think it's Phoebe and she (Phoebe) goes over to confront him about it and Joey reveals that he's in love with Rachel (he thought Phoebe knew). Rachel and Ross don't know about Joey's feelings yet, but I'm sure it will be revealed in a future episode. |
I was talking one of the entertainment editors at CNN about this. He says that it is rumored that this will be the last season of Friends because the cast has made some sort of pact that if one leaves, they all will (and a couple of the cast members would like to leave).
He says he's heard that NBC is trying to beg, borrow and steal enough to pay the cast to stay for another couple of seasons, because it is still one of NBC's top shows--and definitely its number one sitcom. Since Sept. 11, he says, people have been going for "comfort TV" (like comfort food), and Friends' ratings have gone through the roof since then (and since Rachel's pregnancy). From what he says, NBC really wants to keep Friends going. I, for one, hope they do! :) Quote:

the buzz in Hollywood is that they are very much considering another season...but its not definite yet.
|
That would suck! Friends is definetly one of my fave shows!! :D
|
I think they could squeeze out another season or 2, there's just too much happening this season to end it in a few months time.
As for the Rachel-Ross-Joey thing I'm not sure where I stand on that. I like the idea of Rachel and Joey hooking up, however it's hard to picture Rachel with anyone but Ross. Also the whole baby situation makes it a little weird, as someone else said Rachel and Joey together with Ross' baby - that'll be one messed up kid  . |
Setup for conflict?
I saw the previews for this week's episode (Janurary 24) and I can't remember the precise wording, but it sounded like they might be trying to set the stage for a conflict between Ross and Joey...
"Rachel must choose between Ross and Joey," I think the preview said. Your thoughts? |
I don't see why it would be "one messed-up kid"...people shouldn't "stay together for the children" if they don't really love each other, and as for the kid being messed up, stepparents are quite common and I wouldn't say anyone being raised by someone other than a biological parent is "messed up". Besides, it's not like they wouldn't still have contact with Ross, they seem him all the time.
|
Personally, I don't think that Rachel would go for Joey even if she wasn't pregnant. I'm not sure that she'll get with ROss again (although I'd love to see it).
|
I missed the episode where Rachel and Joey went out on their pretend date. Did it seem like she might be interested at all?

OptimistPrime: Thank you! I am glad I didn't miss anything. :)

Rachel agreed to move in with Ross on tonight's episode. Do you think they're setting it up so that R&R will get back together?
|
I hope Rachel and Ross get back together. I think they make a better couple than Rachel and Joey do.

It was so sad when Joey needed a hug at the end of last night's episode! I do hope R&R get back together though...

friends
Who cares if they are "real" or not - its the best damn show on TV! haha |
UGh NO RACHEL AND ROSS.
:) Had to get that out. I am so sick of the on off back forth love hate thing with them. And the dynamics with them apart are better--more complications, etc. |
"Friends" cast members reportedly want at least $1 million per episode, Variety reports.
LOS ANGELES, California (Reuters) -- Variety reports that representatives for the cast of "Friends" have begun formal talks with NBC and the show's producer, Warner Bros. TV, for a deal to bring the hit comedy back for a ninth season next fall. The mere fact that talks have started could be good news for the companies, as both strongly want the show to return. But insiders still believe there's a 50-50 chance the cast will ultimately decide to call it quits at the end of the current season, according to the entertainment trade publication. Insiders familiar with the negotiations aren't giving up many details of the current talking points. But early indications are that the cast will require pay hikes from their current salary of $750,000 per episode to at least $1 million per episode; a bump to $1.1 million for each half-hour doesn't seem out of the question, Variety said. Each season is about 22 episodes. The actors rejected an offer of $800,000 last fall, USA Today reported last month. Technically, the talks are two different negotiations: What Warner Bros. will pay the cast, and what NBC will in turn pay the studio for the show. Assuming NBC absorbs the bulk of the cast pay hike, the network's per-episode license fee of $5.5 million could increase by $1 million or more. Warner Bros. and CNN.com are part of AOL Time Warner. http://www.cnn.com/2002/SHOWBIZ/News...eut/index.html |
