Nicknames y'all had in high school and college and the reason for the nickname.
When I was in high school they used to call me "Sticks" because I was skinny as hell. In college it was always "KT" because that was my first and last name initials.

My friend's little brother turn Lizz into Lizzard. Why? Because he was 10.
Oh, I forgot Lizzabell. Same little bro. |

Honey, in childhood/school: my parents started it, and it just caught on.
Fluff Queen/Fluffy/Fluff, in college: Started when my hair went super fluffy after a hair appointment gone bad, seriously. Now, I go by my real name or Honey, depending on when people first new me. |
Elementary/Jr High: "Fruit Loops"
High School: "St. Lu" -- I scored less than 10 points on the Dear Abby quiz of how "worldly" (shall we say) you were & I scored as a Candidate for Sainthood, plus I was a St. Louis Cardinals fan College: "Infamous" -- our flag football coach gave me the nickname for (ironically) playing well Stage Manager for 6 seasons on TBS Braves telecasts: "Werful" - given to me by Greg Maddux, "Sweet Lu" - given to me by Denny Neagle Now: depends when you knew me, plus a new one of "Ok-Lu-homa", my home state |
Coco! Because when I was born my sister(who was 4 when I was born) couldn't say my real name in full, so she called me nacoco and later on dropped the na. It's funny though because the kid I babysit says my name perfectly and he's two and my parents make fun of her for that haha

Belle - in New Jersey, 'cause I am southern.
Showboat - in high school, because I was big into drama. |
High School: TRON ( was damn good at arcade games and also saw TRON (1982) over 20 times in it's original theatrical run)
College: Bulb (I went through I-Week by myself and the room I was staying in that week, the bathroom I had, the light bulb went out and all day long, I went around asking for a bulb.) Today: THE MOVIE GOD or Jedi Master Projectionist |
Flash--I was the fastest girl on my softball team.

Sigh…I've had more nicknames than I can remember the reasons for.
Antelope, Ursula, La, The Jolly Green Giant, Anigela, Puber, Angela Ann, Frieky Fried, Angelina, Eagle Eye. I could go on. Anigela has been enduring for at least 15 years and was a misspelling on a birthday cake. My real name is Angela but they spelled it with the "i" between the n and g. When I told the person at the bakery that she spelled my name wrong, she actually argued with me that it was correct. |
High school --LES (my first initial, middle initial, and (at the time) last initial
College --Linds (short for my obvious first name) |

high school - "Spree" (because I was always munching on those things)
college -"Pretty Ricky" (I guess they felt I fit that "pretty boy" look, whatever that is). |

College I had a bunch of names mainly because I transferred and my name is pretty boring. My username comes from one nickname. I am from the West Coast and talked about it a lot when I went to school in the Mid West. Soon a joke went that I loved the West Coast and I was West Coast's sweetheart. Then it went to Westie or WC for short.

At the tail end of High School, some people called me "Turtle" because I liked wearing Turtleneck shirts and sweaters as much as possible when the weather allowed.
No one started calling me Mimi until I was 24 or 25. I worked at an Assisted Living Facility part-time as a cook and utility worker in the kitchen of one of the houses at the time, and would help to set out the family style meals and bus tables when needed. Many of the residents asked me my name, and I was happy to tell them what it was. One gentleman in particular said my name slowly, then turned to me and said "That's too hard....I'm going to call you Mimi." That is how I got my nickname.....which is what I go by now. |
I never had a nickname in high school or college.
But I had a HS classmate who chose his own nickname. His first initial was J and his last name was Zimmerman. He chose to be known as JZimm, pronounced "jism". I reiterate, he CHOSE this nickname. |
Mine is DNP, because my best friend in high school had the exact same initials and even the same middle name, just masculine and feminine versions of the name. Our friends still cause us DNP 1 (me) and DNP 2 (him).
Other than that people often make up their own nick names for me, I like it as long as I get final approval to the nick name. |
