friends in other greek orgs.
i wanted to know how many of you have real good friends.... not just acquaintances (sp?) but really good friends in other fraternities and sororities?
i have two good friends in one sorority and one in another. i've found that my sorority and the other sorority that my other two friends are in often compete for the same girls.... but i think our similarities are what makes us so close. a lot of my sisters are friends with girls in that sorority. the only problem is that with date functions all of our guy friends get snagged really fast. |
My best friend, who is also my roommie, belongs to diff greek sorority:)
One of my best friends from home is a Lambda Chi - as far as at Boston U., a lot of my really good girl friends are in sororities.

One of my best friends is a sigma pi.
some of my closest friends are girls in other sororities. i actually think that it's really important for the overall Greek image to be able to have strong relationships with girls not in your house.
Out of my close friends, all but one are in sororities. Three are in various sororities on campus and the other three are at other local universities. It's awesome because I am able to talk to them about situations and aspects within the sorority that non-greeks might not understand or think frivilious, but they understand because they actually know what I am talking about.
My very best friend is one of my Delta Zeta sisters from college but my three closest friends other than her are two Chi Omegas and a Kappa Alpha Theta :)
I'm a Chi O and my best friends are XOs, DGs, DZs, GphiB
I live in a suite with 2 Phi Sig Sigs and a Gamma Phi Beta... last year I lived with a different Phi Sig Sig too. My close friend Michelle is an AEPhi, and I almost went DG because of some wonderful girls that I am still tight with.
I am a DPhiE and my roommate pledged Alpha Phi. I think that we became better friends when we joined different sororities because we were first semester freshman and we did everything together. I think that we could have driven each other crazy if we pledged the same sorority together. I wound up having a lot of friends in other groups because I was very involved in greek life on campus.
On my campus, most sororities hated all the others, so it was rare to have friendships with other women in other groups. Thankfully, I was on Panhellenic and worked at the Student Union, so I made friends with other women in other groups! I had lots of friends in other sororities, and they are still friends to this day! :)

One of my dearest friends is a ZTA. Another is a KD. One of my cousins is a Phi Mu and another is an AGD. :)
I'm a Chi O, and one of my best friends-who is also my cousin :) -is a Kappa. I've also got very close friends who are SK, ZTA, and DG.
Well, I am a lil snakey k who almost went DG, mainly because my best friend is a DG. In addition to Kellee (DG) the other part of our little trio, Amy, is a Tri-Delt.
I had a shore house with aobut 15 guys and we were in 5 diff frats. we were all best friends.
My two bestfriends since 1st grade were both Delta Gamma's at Illinois University and my best friend in college is an AOPi.
It was a huge plus for me in college. Both Kim and I did a bike race and everytime I rode past the AOPi pit; they would yell and scream encouragement to me and the XO pit would do the same for Kim. |
How boring would my life be without friends in other greek orgs and outside of the system?
My sisters joke about how broad my social circle spans. Two of my closest guy friends are in an asian fraternity (I told them to go IFC, but they wouldn't listen:rolleyes::). I lived with two DG's and an AXO in the dorms and we are all the closest of close still. I love some of the girls in my sister sorority, Kappa. Personally, it's such a detriment to one's self to only associate with your own greek org. I've gone to date functions and formals with guys from sports teams, Sigma Chi, Delta Sig, Pike, SAE, etc. Guy friends from home are in LXA, Sig Ep, SAE, D Tau D, Kappa Sig,EX. Girlfriends are in DG, KKG and Pi Phi. |
Unfortunately at my school there are not many girls who have best friends in other sororities. I think it is because we are such a small school and there is fierce competition for girls. All four sororities attract really different crowds so that doesn't help either. The only sisters I know of in my sorority that are really close to girls in another are the athletes. All of my best friends on campus are in my sorority. However at home I have a friend (I wouldn't call her my best or anything) who is a freshman and just joined a sorority in the fall. I'm really cool about having friends in other groups because it gives me a chance to learn more about it and become more well-rounded greek wise, but she is obviously new to the system because she dissed me behind my back to my (blood) sister. There is only one chapter of my GLO in the state she goes to school in and it's no where near hers but she told my sister that my sorority wasn't "cool." Well how would she know? They're different everywhere. Later she dissed me to my face. Basically since she was in such-and-such sorority and I wasn't that made me not good enough for her anymore. Whatever.
I guess we as Greek members need to do a little better job educating our new members about Greek unity because her chapter sure as hell didn't. |
Damn what a full ladle of mash taters and gravey this IS!:)
My nearest and dearest Pals are LXA, but throw in some TKE's! But, I consider All Of the Greek Members on this Site Friends! My 2 best pals are not Greeks! Remember, you can list you very best pals on one hand but Freinds on many fingers! What I have seen hear is one of the most exciting things I have seen! I have seen closeness as a COP but you go home and you wont see untill tomarrow! I see all of you dailey and would not miss it for the world! I always tell young men If You do not go LXA, At Least be a GREEK! Ah well OK!:) |
I'm an AXO but my 2 best friends were tri delts. my best friend from home is a Phi Sig
My best friend in the entire world is a Tri-Delt. They had Chi O at her college but my college did not have Tri-Delt....the Chi Os at her school were not as strong a chapter, and I totally was ok with her going with her heart. My next best friend went to the same school as I did and we rushed together. She went AXiD, which was definitely where she belonged....she is a very down-to-earth, laid back kind of girl and they were exactly right for her. I used to go visit when she lived in the house and I used to tease her when we got our new member lists the night before bid day if we got girls they wanted. It was all in fun. The funniest one though is my very good friend who is a DG. I really liked DG when I was rushing, but once I went Chi O I was not very well liked at the DG house due to a few different guy situations. In fact, she was an extremely close friend of my husband's ex, who HATED me with a passion when Brent and I started dating; Sheri, my DG friend had gone to high school with Brent and his Delt brother Bill, and when she and Billy started dating shortly thereafter we were together a lot (especially when Brent and Bill moved in together.) Anyway she and I really liked each other and grew close, and she got pretty sick of how her sister was acting about me and basically said "Look, I am Erika's friend and if you can't handle it then you'll have to move on." Anyway I think it's great to be good friends outside your chapter.

One of my best friends is a KD and roomie is a Tri-Delta.
When I pledged, there wasn't much "friendship" between a lot of the houses on our tier. I had a good friend who was an AOII but that was about it. Once I got to the last years of college and now after, my closest friends are an Alpha Phi and Theta (I was a ZTA).
Well, I have said this before, but I had 8 EXTREMELY CLOSE girlfriends in college, who were all different sororities(AXiD, AOTT, and Sigma Kappa) We even had secret sayings, and e-mailed newsletters. We knew that the ties of sisterhood were binding, but we also knew that we could be best friends and not wear the same letters. And before recruitment(we were delayed and didn't have it till Jan), we would have girls that we would say " oh gosh, she has to be an AXiD, AOTT, and Sigma Kappa--she can't go anything else". And yes, there would be sometimes when we would be upset because a girl went Sigma Kappa and not AOTT, but we were just glad to know that she was in good hands. Also, as of right now, I am a bridemaid in 3 weddings that are not AOTT, if that tells you anything. At Elon, you DEFINATELY had close friends in other sororities!
I'm a Phi Mu, and when I was in college, I had some very close friends were APhi and DZ. I also had ADPi friends, but they weren't really as close as the others. Not to mention my Kappa Sigma, Phi Psi and TKE friends. I also had non Greek friends. Life has to have variety, and there is no point to limitations.
Several of my pretty good HS friends are in other GLO's, but at other campuses. My second Cousin is in Kappa Sigma on my campus. And almost all my friends that are girls are in sororities.
All my closest friends are Greek. I think it's because we share that common bond, and the issues that we bring up have been experienced by all.
My close girlfriends, if not Theta, are Tri-Delt, Kappa, ADPi, Chi O, and Alpha Phi. My guy friends are SAE, Pike, Sigma Chi, LXA, Sig Ep. My honey is an SAE. :D |
I absolutely have great friends from other sororities! It's what made my college experience so special.
My two best friends are DDD and DG. I have a close knit group of friends from other sororities, who I have had no problem maintaining friendships after college. I was lucky enough to be able to meet a lot of girls working on various events. This is not to imply that I am not incredibly close with my sorority sisters though. :D Carrie |
One of my roommates is an AKA. One of my best friends is ZphiB and another is KD. Talk about diversity. I have found that respect and support is the key.
While not close and personal freinds, My Skoal Rep. is a KS and my PM Rep is a OSPhi. We alwas talk about the Greeks in our Fraternitys and the Problems. Dean went to Witchta St. U and Ellis went to Grambling! I kid El's about having a better tan than I do!
For of you who do not know, one is a GLO and One is a BGLO! We have one thing in real life common, we are Greeks! Well as usual, I probally kilt this theresasddsadsa!:D None of my H S buddys ever went to College so there is little in common unless you want to talk about duck tails and fast cars! |
My best friend is a ADPi and we consider each other adopted "sisters" of each house. No matter which house we happen to be in, all the sisters welcome both of us so warmly. We are in the two smaller houses and we often compete for the same girls during rush, but no matter where they go, we know they will be taken care of, and only a house away! We joke about how she should have gome SK with me, and I should have gone ADPi with her. There are things we love about both houses and it's nice to be able to share the Greek experience with someone who knows what you are talking about.
BFFs: all KDs and one DZ.
But I do have good friends that are AZD, ZTA, AXO, SSS...it's just hard keeping in touch, but in college I was on Panhellenic so I had many friends from all the groups! |
I'm really good friends with a lot of other girls in other sororities at my school. In the other local sorority on campus I'm considered an "honarary member." When you're friends with other organizations it really pulls the Greek community at your school together.
Have a nice day :) |
I have quite a few really really good guy and girl friends were are in other greek organizations..But my best friend in all the world, =) is in Alpha Chi Omega at USC. I miss her soo much, but we still have found a way to make our friendship still awesome!
My best friends were all GDI and throw in one DG. (I'm AXO)
I'm an Alpha Phi and my best friend from high school pledged Kappa Delta at the University of Texas. When I'd go to Austin I would stay in her room at the KD house. We were (and still are) very good friends. I remain friends with some of her KD sisters as well.

At school I had a really close friend who was a Tri-delt (actually two, but one kind of deactivated). The friends who were in AXO, Theta, and a ton in Alpha Phi. Its funny cuz I had issues with the girls my year in Theta (but i loved the other years) and never thought to highly of AXO until I met them. Just goes to show you never know whom your friends can be.
At home My third grade best friend is either a Phi Sig or a Tri Sigma at UNC-Chapel Hill. Two other friends from elementary school are in others. One from high school is in a local, and unfortunatley someone who I use to be close to (turned mega stereotypical sorority B!&$% on me, mostly) is a Sigma Kappa at the same school as the one in the local. |
