Hello fellow Greeks! Im a Sigma Nu from Akron and we're having a Date party coming up this month where all the brothers bring a girl to the party and we just play games and socialize the night away. We're having it at our local American Legion so there will be SOME alcohol provided to those who are of age. I was wondering if anybody could suggest any fun games to play to keep everyerone entertained! Help please?

Beer pong. Quarters. Darts. Flip cup. You're welcome.

For what it's worth, drinking games are contrary to our risk management policies.

How will you make sure people are appropriately wearing the age bracelets?

Yeah, maybe posting an anthology of awesome drinking games wasn't the best of ideas.*

I don't know how large the group will be, but I think Cards Against Humanity has to be the best party game of all time.

I would advise against drinking games at this venue. If you don't think your admin reads this site, you are wrong. I know my alma mater's Greek Life folks lurk here.

Think inappropriate Apples to Apples. Definitely aimed at the college-age crowd.

It's like Apples to Apples, but for people who can laugh at dead baby jokes. It's not for everyone. You have a black card with a blank or blanks on it and others play white cards which would fill in those blanks. The person whose turn it is to read the black card chooses the winner from the anonymous submissions.

I've never heard of "apples to apples" and even after Kevin's description I have no idea the purpose behind that game. I can be offensive without a cards party. LOL.

Disclaimer:
I'm someone who absolutely hates party games---alcohol or no alcohol--and I have hated party games since I was in elementary school. I don't care whether it is an ice breaker game, a holiday party game, a professional gathering game, a "game party" (these are NOT sports-related...my friend has "game parties" every year--I absolutely hate it but she makes awesome Jamaican rum drinks so I sit around drinking and laughing at the game players).

Put me in a room full of people and I just want to talk to people without rules and formality. Tell me there's a game and I will either leave the party or be the "game heckler." I only indulge people if it's a professional gathering and I cannot escape. I can usually escape even if to find another game heckler to talk to.

Sorry, guys, for the drinking games comment. I'm of the opinion that party games/ice breakers are really stupid, and most college kids don't want to play them. Sure, have Cards Against Humanity out on a table. Maybe have a darts board. If there's a pool table, make sure you don't have to pay to play.

But I would say, in general, that the last thing a bunch of fraternity guys and their dates. are going to want to do at a party is be forced to play games. Put some music on. Have a dance floor and also somewhere quiet where people can chat. Let it be. Don't overthink it.

I have to say that "Apples to Apples" and "Cards Against Humanity" are really fun games to play! When I was in the military, we would play some of these games on our time off when we were out in the field. These games are also fun (with the right people--meaning, people who aren't easily offended) for dinner parties. If you get easily offended, these games are not for you. Now I want to go play these games.
