Missouri State University

As of tonight MSU has 734 women registered for Formal Recruitment!!! Huge number for them. They currently have 6 NPC organizations, 1 local organization and Sigma Sigma Sigma is re colonizing there in September!!!

I've loved Missouri State since it was SMS (aka Southwest Missouri State University). Some of my sorority sisters are from this city. Have friends who are alumnae of a chapter on campus and felt like they were our sister-sorority in Springfield, MO (from Univ. of Tulsa). Best wishes on Recruitment and Quota MAXIMUM Totals to everyone!

Plus (NOW), I'll always know what secret questions to ask Brad Pitt ...

I'm excited for this one. I have a few former students in chapters there and two, that I know of, who are signed up for recruitment this year.

My younger sister is in a chapter here and her chapter is super excited but nervous at the huge number going through!! I know they are currently doing an expansion, but with these numbers another expansion may be looming!

Blue2 08-20-2013 09:30 PM

Yeah for a MVC school! OMG, I think you all will need another expansion soon with those numbers. Has Tri Sigma selected a site for a house yet? I heard numbers are up at many MVC schools this Fall.

Tri Sigma already owns a house at Missouri State, Gamma Phi Beta was living in it, but they recently moved into their brand new beautiful home =) So Tri Sigma already has a place to live! =)

A very recent news story says there was an explosion at the new Gamma Phi house -- two improvised explosive devices (IEDs). One person -- associated with DZ -- was reportedly slightly injured.

I was wondering if Tri Sigma had kept their house. I hope the Delta Zeta who was injured is OK. I just read an article about a similar incident (not in a college town or connected to Greek life).

Blue2 08-21-2013 08:39 PM

Sending out prayers for that Delta Zeta and I hope she was not hurt to bad.

sdtennisgal 08-21-2013 08:45 PM

I just read the two articles. Apparently the injuries to the Delta Zeta were very minor (treated on the scene, no hospitalization).

The weird part to me about this is that the "devices" (for lack of a better word) detonated at the REAR entrace of the house.

Was recruitment going on at the time?

littlesquirrel 08-21-2013 09:01 PM

It looks like recruitment was happening at that time--it starts tomorrow, right? I feel bad for all of women around. How scary!

Missouri Ivy 08-21-2013 09:01 PM

It starts tomorrow, I believe.

Blue2 08-21-2013 09:22 PM

Does anyone know the schedule for Tri Sigma recolonization?

NauticalButNice 08-22-2013 01:12 AM

I am an alum from this Gamma Phi Beta chapter. On our Facebook page, it is being reported that the injured woman was Gamma Phi's cook. That she burnt her hand while trying to clean it up.

My sister is in this house, and that is the same story that she gave me.

Blue2 08-24-2013 09:35 PM

What was the final number for women registered this year?

Missouri Ivy 08-24-2013 09:36 PM

734

Blue2 08-26-2013 09:15 PM

Any results yet?

Missouri Ivy 08-26-2013 11:18 PM

ADPi reported 81 on their Twitter account. I haven't seen anything else though. I'm pretty sure one girl I taught went AXO. My other girl was at bid day, but it looks like she declined her bid. Someone had a great comment the other day, "the tent talked, and someone listened.". Pretty sure that's what happened here. I hope I'm wrong.

ETA: Just saw Delta Zeta post 79. Alpha Sigma Alpha had a nice picture posted, but I am terrible at counting heads.

southernbuff 08-27-2013 11:09 AM

Has anyone heard how the other chapters did, including Sigma Kappa? Just curious.

wsucalsigmakapp 08-27-2013 10:55 PM

I haven't heard! And my only resource at MSU (my little sister) is not being helpful! She is too excited with the chapters new pledges, but has no idea how many they have or even what quota was. ALTHOUGH, she did say she thought a lot more women than normal dropped out, which would make some sense with the Tri Sigma expansion!! =)

wsucalsigmakapp 08-27-2013 10:56 PM

Sorry not pledges, new members. I don't think I will ever learn!

Missouri Ivy 08-28-2013 06:12 AM

Sigma Kappa 83
Alpha Chi Omega 84

And my girl is an AXO. I thought I saw her in their bid day picture, but got confirmation from her early yesterday morning. So happy for her and her new sisters!

Blue2 08-28-2013 09:49 PM

Please post MSU bid day pictures on the Greekchat Bid Day Picture forum. We have been lacking MVC school's Bid Day photos recently. Hopefully we can get Wichita State, Indiana State and Illinois State to post theirs next month?

azureblue 08-29-2013 10:29 AM

Alpha Delta Pi - 81

Blue2 08-31-2013 01:21 PM

Any word on how ASA and Gamma Phi did?
