Texas A&M Recruitment!
Thought it was time to start this thread! :D The girls begin their first round of parties tomorrow! Whoop!
Good Luck everyone and Gig 'em:)
I heard they are right at 1100 going thru this year! Great to see more girls wanting to be Greek every year at A&M
I have an OOS rec girl so I will be on pins & needles all week. Many conversations with her mama on how things have changed, I just hope they believed me. Fingers crossed!
I know almost 1100 (closer to 1060, I think) signed up but am really curious as to how many actually went through Open Houses today to start the process. I know last year it was 901. Haven't heard from my source yet. Anyone out there have a number?
Wow! That's a large number. Are there any PNMs on this site? Can't wait to hear how recruitment goes this year.
I guess I'll answer my own question for y'all. 1028 walked in the door today for the 1st round of Open House up by 127 from last year. Conceivably, quota could go up by 9 or even higher as Panhellenic has been working very hard on ways to keep girls from dropping out of the process. Fingers crossed.
Day 2!
Good Luck to all the actives and PNMs today!
PNM's can attend up to 9 houses today! Usually, first round cuts at A&M are relatively minimal. I'm curious to find out if that still holds true. Have a great day, PNM's!!!!
Any word on how the first round went? I really hope these women going through recruitment stick it out and find their home. A&M's Greek system is only getting stronger.
As for cuts first round, it probably depends on the house. Some chapters might have to cut more heavily than others due to RFM (but I am not sure on that one). Good Luck - almost halfway there! |
GIG 'EM
Good luck, and GIG 'EM to all my fellow Aggies! Whoop! |
Well, Skit Night is over. Does anyone have information regarding the status of cuts? If its anything like last year, the biggest cuts are being made tonight. I'm curious to find out quota.
My understanding is more girls are staying in the mix this year instead of dropping out. Great news. This should increase quota if it all holds. Tomorrow night will tell the tale. Would love to see a quota of 70 but maybe I'm being optimistic.
I haven't heard anything about cuts, just that there have been a lot of legacies this year. I'm pretty old and far removed from college and don't know many "on the inside". I have a few daughters of friends going through or newly on the other side so I have enjoyed "catching up" with the process again.
So glad to hear more women are sticking with the process! It's so hard to explain to someone so young that they need to keep their mind open and that sorority life is really up to them, no matter the house. |
BID DAY!!!!! I'm trying to get an idea of this year's quota #s, but so far no luck.
So excited for the new Aggie sorority girls! I know it has been a crazy fun busy week for the girls on both sides of the process. I also would love to know what quota will be because the rumor is more girls stuck with the process, so it might be up quite a bit from last year. :) If so, that is great for the entire Greek community!
Quota numbers should be out in the hour or so. Fingers crossed it has gone up this year.
I heard that more girls stuck with the process as well! Whoop! My daughter has had a blast participating in her first Spirit Week/Recruitment.
Well, I think I know quota. I may be off a few I think it is 66 or 67 something like that. Good news is freshman quota went up and upper class quota remained stable at 18. Whoop! is right.

A&M 2013 Quota
I read on another post that this years quota is 67. This number is not yet confirmed.
Both of my girls dropped out after the final night's parties. :-(
I'm sorry to hear that your girls dropped after preference. All of the houses at Texas A&M are strong and the sororities at A&M are wonderful about supporting each other.
However, there are many other freshman leadership opportunities (FLOs) that might be of interest to your girls. It is another way to get involved as a new student to TAMU. Here is a link: http://firstyear.tamu.edu/getting-involved/ |
Aww. Im sorry. Did they give you a reason? My daughter went in last year "knowing" that she was going to end up with a bid to one of the top houses at A&M. Well, after 2 days of full party schedules she was stunned to find out that she was only invited to one preference party. After lots of tears (from both of us) and a long phone conversation she decided the experience of being in a sorority was more important than what level of house she belonged to. Thankfully, she received a bid the next day. It took some time to get over the sting of rejection, but over about a 6 week time period she found herself really liking her house. And now, a year later, she is proud of her house and loves her new sisters.
After being invited to full party schedules through the week she was invited to only one preference party. She attended the party, but just did not feel connected to the girls. :-(
She is sad, but feels she made the right decision. |
My OOS rec girl went Delta Gamma. Her Alpha Chi mother, my friend, is excited that she found her home, but I tiny bit sad that it wasn't with her legacy house. At least she was successful!
QUOTA - 67
68 beautiful new Gamma Phis . . . including a legacy for whom I wrote a rec! - now to find out where the rest of my rec crew went! |
Delta Zeta took 68! 49 Freshman, 19 upperclass (as I understand quota was 49 freshman/18 upperclass)
Just read on a different thread that KD is also celebrating with 68 new sisters. A&M's quotas this year are on par with TCU! Thats a huge achievement for A&M Greek life!
I am happy to report that 69 lovely ladies joined Kappa Kappa Gamma yesterday. I am happy that Texas A&M continues to expand Greek Life for all the wonderful chapters. Good luck to the members and pledges as they begin school tomorrow.
We would all love to hear a recruitment story if anyone cares to share now that the process is complete. |
