Pi Phi

where do you go to school and what are the pi phi chapters like at your school????

LXA ISU 11-21-2000 09:22 PM

Illinois State University

They are at the bottom with Sigma Sigma Sigma. Most fraternities avoid them as much as possible. Sorry!

SoCalGirl 11-21-2000 09:32 PM

At my school, UC San Diego, the fraternities have the complete opposite attitude towards Pi Phi. Personally I loved the two I met at info night. They were so sweet. Unfortunately I didn't get the same reception from the other ones I met. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif

But basically the guys love them and the girls would rather eat & digest a sandwich! I also don't think that I'd look good as a blonde. Harsh I know! But it's so bad that during sports any Pi Phi larger than a size 2 or brunette is a suspected ringer.

PiBetaPhi 11-21-2000 11:10 PM

at my school (EKU), we won top on campus and won one of the top 10 chapters in the USA.

At Knox College we are a bunch of laid back, diverse girls who just enjoy hanging out together. Many of us are involved in sports, theater, community service orgs, women's issues orgs, and pretty much everything else. We aren't all blonde or skinny, but we do tend to dig into junk food when we are together! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

HoneyBunny 02-04-2001 08:04 PM

Sorry to say, but the Pi Phis at Bowling Green aren't looked upon too nicely. They think they are hot stuff, but they are the only ones that think so.

shopgirl 02-04-2001 08:49 PM

Hi PiBetaPhi...

PiPhi is strong here at the University of Arizona.

Kauilani 02-05-2001 01:00 AM

I'm a Pi Phi at the University of Utah. We are a strong and diverse chapter. There are only 6 sororities here and we are one of the top. We have great fun and are loved by the fraternity houses on campus but not really the neighbors. Proud to be a Pi Phi!

Alumnus who cares 02-06-2001 03:57 AM

My sister was a Pi Phi at the University of Dayton, OH. I think they were pretty good there. At the University of Illinois I think they were good too.

soror6 02-06-2001 04:34 AM

I am not one to post anything negative about fellow greeks, so I won't, and I suggest others may want to do the same! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif In the meantime, I am an alumni of Bradley University in Illinois, and the Pi Phi's there were very nice, and a strong house. The year that I was Homecoming Queen, 2 of the girls on the court were Pi Phi's, and they were vey sweet girls. Their house used to support NPC and NPHC org's on campus, and had a very diverse and friendly group of girls. I don't know what it is like now, but I am sure it has not changed that much. Locally, chapters and reputations change, but I will always be proud to be a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif Other people have a definite right to their opinion, but I have the truth and the rich 88 years of history of my organization on my side....That's all you need too,PiBetaPhi! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif
Take the negatives with a grain of salt http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/tongue.gif
Good luck on rush if you are having it this year! Bye!

Here at Virginia Tech, we are both a strong and diverse group of girls. Through our diversity we find a way to succeed at everything.

DeltAlum 02-06-2001 12:58 PM

Dear PiBetaPhi,

Congratulations on being a member of a wonderful organization.

Many of my brother Delt alums are married to Pi Phis who are outstanding women -- so you're working from a strong heritage in my opinion.

When I was in college (late 60's), the Pi Phis and Chi O's were clearly the top houses on a campus with about twelve or so sororities. (A slight nod to the Pi Phis on beauty and a very slight nod to Chi O on academics) When I was on campus last I asked my undergraduate brothers and they say it's the same today.

My wife had bids from both, but decided not to pledge at all due to finances -- but it certainly shows their good taste and intelligence. She is a Cum Laude graduate and a real beauty. (She is an ADPi legacy)

Finally, when someone asks this kind of question, he/she must be ready for good and bad responses. BUT, some of the posts get pretty brutal. The questions deserve an honest answer, but a little subtlety and concern for peoples feelings might be in order.

And I still think this kind of thread should be under the particular organization threads elsewhere in this forum. But we've been through that before.

Here we're one of the better sororities. People usually say we're one of the nicer, prettier sororities. We're really social too. Take it how you want it (hopefully in a good way) but we're nicknamed the party sorority.

dchi_pride 05-15-2001 03:52 AM

I'm a Delta Chi at Western Michigan U. Pi Phis have been the best sorority here. We don't don't get much support form the sororities here because we only have 35 or so members (which is small and most sororites want to hang only with the quote "popular fraternites" here). They have been with us through our hard times and now that we're coming back we're doing everything we can to remember who was with us through it all and Pi Phis are at the top of the list, much love to all you angels!

psu_lions 05-15-2001 10:29 AM

Pi phi's at penn state is one of the top if not the top sorority at penn state. they are beautiful, smart, fun girls. they are truly pi phi angels

Ouch...but I do understand. We still do have a lot of blondes and yeah...I wear a size 2 most of the time. We may all wear Tiffanys and a shade of blonde on the outside, but we are all so diverse inside and THAT is something that our sisters know. We are all so close to eachother and would feel comfortable calling any of our 80 or so sisters for a ride to the airport, to cry after a bad day, to laugh or just to hang out at the beach. We have a very good reputation with the fraternities and that is because we support everyone and have very classy girls. Oh yeah...and occasionally we keep down our diet cokes and dry salads! C'mon, guys....I just came back from a fraternity formal and I out ate my date! Oh yeah...and I am brunette. We are a bunch of fun girls with one of the highest GPA's on campus. I couldn't be prouder of my chapter!

LexiKD 05-15-2001 05:40 PM

I don't think that a chapter with look alike members is always a bad thing that should be called out like that.

ECU has 9 NPC chapters and one, that sicks out of my mind, sounds simliar to your chapter. They are very good looking, usually blonde and VERY small girls, but that doesn't mean the are a bad a chapter or deserve such mean comments. They are very consistent, they have to be in order to find their type of member and keep them coming back for more.

My chapter is very oppoisite, but that doesn't make us "better" or any chapter for that matter. Just because we have a mix of hair colors doesn't mean we are more sorority like or more productive. We all need to be different in order to function.

At the University of Southern Cal Pi Phi is a very strong house and great group of girls--friendly, smart, beautiful, popular--yet down to earth.

pbpck---Sorry, I was just trying to be honest. I did love Pi Phi at first when I went through rush. But I just didn't "feel the love" http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif. Ya'll rock every year in rush; and no matter what may said about ya, everyone says that you've got a good chapter!

Don't worry about it at all. No apologies necessary. The rep is warranted. I was also a little intimidated by the girls seeing as how gorgeous and classy they were and how goofy and multicultural I was. But getting a Pi Phi bid was a wonderful day and I could not live with out my sisters. I am happy that you did "feel the love" in Sigma Kappa. It just shows you how every girl will find the right chapter for HER not for everyone else. And thanks for the positive comments. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

At Montana State University-Bozeman, the Pi Phis have a good reputation. One thing I like about them is that they don't have a particular stereotype like the other sororities do on campus. Maybe one of the reasons is that they are the largest sorority on campus with 60-70 girls. It also doesn't hurt that a couple of my really good friends are also Pi Phis http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

dzrose93 05-16-2001 09:24 AM

I didn't have Pi Phi on my campus, but I met several while planning a charity event last month. Very nice girls, and very involved with their sorority as well as the community! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Iowa State University

PiPhis here are really nice, dedicated girls. We were pairing up last semester(Spring 2001) for Greek Week 2001, and we won first place overall. Nice experiences we had!
For the result, some of our guys dating PiPhis now. They are super cool. W-O-W
