Favorite Sorority Poll
Since it's that time of year (recruitment at most schools), I thought I'd start a poll where we can be Panhellenic toward each other's sororities. Everyone is welcome to participate: NPC, NPHC, local and multicultural sororities alike. The only rule is that you can't vote for your own organization!

My leading caveat: I'm not going online to check out the details of each sorority, so this is by memory only. Feel free to correct me if I've made a misstatement of fact :)
1. Which sorority has the most beautiful Badge (basic model)? I'm a fan of the badges that are symbols and the simpler the better, so other than my own, I love the Kappa key and Pi Phi arrow 2. Which sorority has the best flower? I like Kappa's fleur-de-lis, but I don't think that's actually their flower, but more a symbol. So then I'd go with Theta's pansy because it ties in so well with their colors. 3. Which sorority has the most awesome philanthropy? Gotta go with Tri Delta's St. Judes. They are really kicking arse and taking names for such a good cause. 4. Which sorority has the best color combination? Going simple and girly, Phi Mu's pink and white (I'll admit I had to confirm this one - wasn't sure what the alternate to pink was) and AOII's red and white. 5. Which sorority has the cutest mascot? I'm not too into mascots, but I love the lion of Phi Mu and the elephant of DST. Why haven't I been to Africa yet? 6. Which sorority has the coolest symbols? I find a lot of them really intriguing, but I want to know more about the trident. 7. Which sorority do you think is the best known? Kappa is a significant part of one of my favorite plays ever (Uncommon Women & Others), and the will ring in my ears forever Delta Delta Delta can I help ya help ya help ya? 8. I also have to change lanes and go with Sigma Chi Derby Days. I've never seen Anchor Splash in action. We had a DG chapter at Iowa, but I don't ever recall it happening (you know, in the dark ages), and being a swimmer, I'd have definitely participated. (And here's where I don't mention one of my own sorority's events, Puzzlepalooza, which seems like a great way to draw in both Greeks and non-Greeks for a fun event) 10: Which sorority cut was the most disappointing to you during recruitment? I was disappointed to be cut by Alpha Chi Omega. I was also cut by my legacy chapter, but I wasn't especially disappointed by that. Shocked, yes, but it just made my final decision easier. |

I'm a big fan of Delta Gamma's and Phi Mu's. 2. Which sorority has the best flower? I love that Alpha Sigma Alpha has the Aster and the Narcissus. Both are very unique and I love that they have a fall and a spring flower. 3. Which sorority has the most awesome philanthropy? This is the hardest question! I love them all! Arg. Sigma Kappa and alzheimer's. Alpha Chi Omega and Prevention of Domestic abuse. 4. Which sorority has the best color combination? Zeta Tau Alpha. Turquoise is my favorite color. 5. Which sorority has the cutest mascot? AEPhi Giraffe, AOPi Panda, or TPA Penguin 6. Which sorority has the coolest symbols? I love Theta's Kite 7. Which sorority do you think is the best known? Not sure the official name but you support reading and you get my heart. 4. Which sorority has the best color combination? Delta Zeta and Alpha Kappa Alpha 5. Which sorority has the cutest mascot? I've collected teddy bears since childhood, so Kappa Delta, Alpha Xi Delta, Alpha Phi and Sigma Delta Tau. Did I miss someone? 6. Which sorority has the coolest symbols? Delta Phi Epsilon's unicorn. My AOII chapter's mascot is a unicorn too! 7. Which sorority do you think is the best known? Kappa Kappa Gamma, Kappa Alpha Theta, Delta Delta Delta. 8. Which other sorority did you pref? Or, if you went through informal rush, which one would you have joined if you hadn't joined yours? I went through informal and I only wanted AOII. Looking back I probably would have been very happy in Chi Omega or Kappa Delta as well. 9. Which sorority has the best yearly activity? We didn't really have much of a traditional yearly activity in my collegiate days. As an alumna observer, I think the branding and promotion of Delta Gamma's Anchor Splash philanthropy is outstanding. 10. Darn, I could not think of a 10th question! Nationally speaking, which one would you join other than your own? After serving in my Alumnae Panhellenic I can honestly say I think I'd be happy in any other NPC group. It's amazing how much we really are so much more alike than we are different, but the differences make it fun! |

As a Mammographer, I've gotta say ZTA for their Breast Cancer Awareness and Education, though every group does amazing work for so many worthy causes! 4. Kappa Kappa Gamma (I'm a sucker for the symbol pins like DG's anchor). Though if we are talking blinged out badges, the Kappa Alpha Theta Dyer badge is OMG amazing. 2. They not only have a dolphin and a trident, they have Chuck Norris. And their open motto gets me every time... 7. Which sorority do you think is the best known? Kappa Kappa Gamma 8. Nationwide, I'm going with Kappa Kappa Gamma. In my region though, it's Alpha Xi Delta. 8. Which other sorority did you pref? 2. Best Flower: Alpha Phi; AEPhi forget-me-not (I forgot about AEPhi until I read SWTX Belle's post), and KKG's iris. 3. Best Philanthropy: Pi Phi (I'm biased) - Reading & Literacy; DG - Foundation Service For Sight (Help for Visually Impaired). 4. Best Colors: DG bronze, pink, blue. 5. Cutest Mascot: Pi Phi angel; DG Hannah Doll. 6. Coolest Symbols: KKG's key & fleur-de-lis, ZTA crown. 7. Best Known Sorority: Tri-Delt. 8. I also preffed Alpha Xi Delta and Delta Gamma. 9. (late night pancake-making event) 10a. Which sorority cut was the most disappointing to you during recruitment? The Delta Delta Delta chapter at my school was just awesome when I went through; I loved their commitment to community service and admired many of my upperclassmen friends in that chapter. However, in retrospect, it just wasn't meant to be. I still keep in touch with those now-alumni of that chapter, though! :) 10b. Which sorority has the coolest new member pin? Phi Mu! |
