UGA 2013 Sorority Recruitment
I haven't seen a UGA thread for this year, but it got underway today with PNMs moving in, going to Orientation and meeting with their Gamma Chis.
I know seven PNMs and did recs for four of them. Looking so forward to their results! |

Didn't think I would have any but I have three!

sophomore rushing
A good friend's daughter just transferred and will go thru recruitment as a sophomore. She is a legacy to two houses - one through her mom and one through her cousin. Hoping she has a great experience.
I have 3! Can't wait to hear where they end up!

Just FYI - the last list I received showed 1485 PNMs are registered for recruitment at UGA! |
Well I mean, I have several dawgs in the race but I have a Carnation Nation Dawg in the race! Much love and luck to all of them!

She was! And maybe Tiny Dawg will be one too! I have no clue what her favorites are, although I hope she doesn't have any yet since recruitment has just begun.

Looking forward to the pictures that are posted here every year. Bad storms and heavy rain today. Hope the PNM's stay safe.
My daughter is looking out her office window and can see the AXO PNMs huddled under their umbrellas! She said that the rain is supposed to hold out all day.
I am so looking forward to UGA rush this year. I have 3 PNMs that I have written recs for.
I've got a rec girl in this one too. I'm hoping for updates from her mom!
According to UGA Panhellenic Twitter account: "It's monsooning" during first round. There are 1483 PNMs
This is the first time I have written recs to UGA. Can't wait to hear where they go! Poor girls, the week that they want to look their best & they are getting soaked. Hmmm... wonder if the soroority girls should go out and splash in the rain to make them feel less like wet puppies?

http://sigmakappauga.com/about-2/the-house/ Voila! I called Room Eight home for half my Freshman year, my Sophomore and Junior years. It's even prettier now than it was back then. It's not as fancy as Alpha Gamma Delta or Alpha Delta Pi, but it's a great place to call home! |
Thank you BraveMaroon! The house is lovely! I love the outside. Is that really a 5 girl room on the website photo with bunk/loft beds? I can't imagine living in a 5 girl room. We had a cold dorm, so our rooms were just day rooms and a 4 girl was a lot for me.
It is the only five girl in the house - back in the day we called it The Cave, and it only looked this pretty during rush (and really, they have done a lot of work on it, too). There are a few three and four girl rooms, but most of them are doubles. My old room, I'm told, has turned into a single, and is reserved for the Chapter President. Probably a good idea, because I lived with our President my junior year, and got kicked out often so she could talk with someone in private.
Two houses I returned to for house tours (DPhiE and SDT) had sleeping porches, and I thought that was a genius idea. They were both newer, more modern houses. The other house I visited during tour was Alpha Gamma Delta. It was gorgeous back then, and they just put some serious renovations into it. If there are any UGA PNMs reading this Let me just state for the record - After Round 1, I never had a full schedule - I got cut HARD. A lot. Dry your tears, straighten your nametag and move forward - there are 17 amazing sororities at UGA, and you'll be in good company wherever you go. |
Those Red & Black pictures are from last year. Not sure if that is by accident or if they just got lazy and figured they would "reuse" them. Hopefully, we will have some new pictures soon. I recognize the pictures from last year but the weather difference is also a dead giveaway! It poured in Athens today!
Wow, well they dated it August 7, 2013!!! Good point on the weather, though. I thought maybe it had just cleared up some like it did here in Atlanta, but if you actually remember some from last year...uh oh, they are busted! :)
My D2 went thru rush at UGA last year and I was of course scoping ALL the pictures. Kinda sad commentary on how caught up I was in it last year that I remember the pictures! D2 is loving living in "the house" this year and is excited to experience rush on the other side for the first time.
These look a little more in keeping with today's weather!!

I've got a few ladies going through this year... hoping to hear some happy updates!!
Woo hoo! Can't wait to read all about it, dgdramadawg!
I loved the pictures. Those girls really look like they are having fun and keeping positive in the rain! So many really cute dresses!
I have one rec girl going through, and know of several others. I saw one of them in the pictures. Carnation, you threw me when you said you had a Dawg in the hunt. I was thinking, "How in the world did I miss one?" Glad you clarified!
Well, I do have a college freshman again but I doubt she'll rush!
Well then, I did miss one!
But I've already done a rec for her just in case!!!!!
I hope that someone starts to write a recruitment story soon. Those are so fun to read.
