Recruitment Numbers
Late summer/fall sorority recruitment is coming very soon. Last year there were record numbers of women who registered for recruitment at many colleges/universities across the country. Some of you posters are chapter advisors and have access to the latest recruitment numbers, especially those in the southern states.
It would be interesting to compare registration numbers to those from last year. Please share the latest recruitment registration numbers, if you have them, for these Greek systems. Auburn Alabama Georgia Florida Florida State Mississippi Missouri South Carolina Texas Arkansas Louisiana State Tennessee Arizona Colorado Oregon Washington Add to the list, if you wish....:) |
Oregon had right around 800 registered last year.
Texas is slightly ahead from this time last year
Oklahoma State is just about where they were last year as well. Recruitment starts on August 4th! Yikes!!!
Alabama - 1,955 as of about 12 noon today, about the same as last year...so far.
Auburn was tracking towards about 1,100 as of last week. |
I thought I saw on here somewhere that Mizzou had around 1200 registered.
Well... prediction is for 1300 PNMs at University of Arizona. Will post a final number when the day arrives. Thinking that this higher than usual number is due to Alpha Chi Omega's returning to campus, opening up more membership "slots". Bear in mind that there will be considerable releases after Open House rounds (grades will be the primary reason). No matter how many times PNMs are told "you don't meet the minimum requirements" they insist on registering because "I'm special."
Not sure if its the Washington you're referring to, but I'm going to estimate around 750 girls (give or take) will go through recruitment at Washington State University this year.
Missouri
Recruitment number as reported by tigerivy in another thread at the University of Missouri is 1765.
Arizona State numbers look big this year. We shall see how it all pans out but we are about 100 women over where we usually are at this time.
KSUViolet06 reported there were 2002 registered for recruitment at Univ. of Alabama as of August 1, 2013.
In May, Ole Miss was projecting 1,000 PNMs in October Recruitment. I understand that registration figures are on track to reach that number as the rates this year are similar to past years.
Final number for University of Kansas (I know, not listed above!) is 956. This is the most they've ever had register! Hard to believe that KU is almost close to Ole Miss as far as numbers go if 1,000 is the projection.
Kansas has 956? Wow! I have wondered when it was going to start picking up there. I found it interesting that the new member classes have been the same size, approximately, as when I was there 20 years ago - and there were 2 more sorority chapters at that time.

South Carolina is showing 1425 PNMs registered. This is the first year we have done recruitment before Welcome Week, so it is nice to see that it has not affected numbers! |
It was reported in another thread Kansas State has 818 registered for recruitment.
Does anyone know if this is a larger number than last year? |
Univ. of Alabama is now at 2009.

Texas A&M had 901 begin recruitment last year. As of last Friday numbers were at 1013 and they expect about 1100 when all is said and done.
According to the Iowa State Recruitment twitter account, there are now more than 800 PNMs registered. Last year's pledge classes were around 40-42 members, they could be almost 50 this year! Crazy! My pledge class was 22 in 1997, and that was a big year back then. Housing is going to be an issue if large pledge classes become the norm.
I'm going to help with Pref night; I may even get to take my badge(s) out of the lock box! ;) |

Yes, Alabama 2012 quota was 95 for the primary pool and 10 for the upperclass pool.
I can't wait for the 2013 quota numbers to start rolling in! |

Arizona is just shy of 1400.
According to the University of Arkansas Greek Life Facebook page, 1360 ladies have registered for Fall recruitment.
As of yesterday, Florida State has 1635 girls signed up. The recruitment application will be active until the 11th, so my guess is that they will end up with just shy of 1700 girls. I believe that number is bigger than last year (I think it was somewhere around 1500) so it is slowly but steadily growing. :) To be honest, I'm a little bit relieved because I am a PNM and they were expecting 1800 girls to rush.
More girls doesn't affect you. I know it's hard to wrap your mind around, but more girls just means bigger pledge classes, not increased competition.
Does anyone know how many attended Convocation tonight at Alabama?
So many!
2,113!
Wow! I know my daughter is excited to experience recruitment "from the other side" !

A little Gamecock told me 1581 for South Carolina. As an ADPi, I want it to be 1851 <>.

Does anyone know how many pmns are registered at the University of Tennessee?
Just came back from getting dd settled back in the house for spirit week at UF. I heard 1900 registered for recruitment!
My sister said that there are just under 800 girls registered for recruitment which starts Monday at Mississippi State. Mississippi State has 8 chapters.
Tennessee
I don't know exact numbers for UTK, but I know they're slightly ahead of last year. Projecting 70s for pledge classes with current numbers, but I expect that will be high. I'm guessing quota will end up being somewhere between 60-70.

I almost had a coronary withe the 1900 pnms for UF. Right now it is 1,220 with five more days to sign up. That is ahead of last year. Fortunately, we have a much more sane schedule. Round 1 is the 17 & 18th, Round 2 19 & 20th, Round 3 22nd & 23rd with prefs on the 24 and Bid Day the 25th.
By no means was I trying to give anyone a heart attack...maybe I heard wrong but ill ask again when it starts to see what # I get then....bottom line the girls I was with were all very excited and have a LOT of joy from their sorority! I'm sure they will have a fun time and are looking forward to the new schedule. I also know several girls going through so will be interesting to see where they all end up!
