S.M.U. Rush Rules 1960
Great stuff, thanks for sharing!
This is so interesting (coming from someone who sits through too many recruitment meetings debating rules each year)!
I guess "fraternity" and "sorority" were used interchangeable then, or am I misinterpreting the rules? I see back then it was okay to punish a sorority by limiting pledge class size... |

Ask and you receive, ADPiEE

Thank you! I love the dresses they wore in 1960!
I love these!
And the collegians look so mature and Donna Reed-like.

Two of the ADPis at the Southern Garden Party are wearing dresses that blend in with the grass - they look like those old fashioned doll cakes!
This also reminded me that several Texas schools use/d the term "Rush Captain" instead of Chair or Chairman. Maybe I've heard that at L.S.U. too, but not many other places.

"Show Me the Money"
Are you scanning this from the booklet or can this be found online? I'd just love to read the whole thing. Love how they all look so sophisticated.

"loafers & white socks..."
The loafers and socks in Dallas are making my feet sweat just thinking about it. Bleah!!!! My mom could not get over the fact that we would wear Keds-like sneakers or flats WITHOUT socks or knee hi's.
I love how it suggests wearing the same dress two days in a row for the second round. In Hot weather. Yuck.
These are great! I hope you will post all of them! :)
Very cool! I am loving these! Hope to read more!

My mother-in-law and her sisters were in sororities at LSU in 1960. I love looking at their pictures. I'll see if I can find their yearbooks next time I see them.

Gamma Phi Beta - S.M.U. 1960
Is this from a Rush book given to all the Rushees?
Do you think Lady Anne Chamberlain is a member of the nobility, or is this like Lady Bird Johnson?
When I saw the picture, I thought maybe that was the title given to their president. I forgot about Lady Bird Johnson. On my dad's side, we have great aunts Birdy, Opal, Jewell, and Priddy, so why not a Lady?

I've known a few women named "Lady" - not as uncommon in the south as you would think.
I had a Princess in my class last semester - but that's a bit overreaching, I think. |

A friend of mine was an active at the Gamma Phi chapter when this booklet was published. How fun to see some of her chapter sisters! :)
