Great stuff, thanks for sharing!

This is so interesting (coming from someone who sits through too many recruitment meetings debating rules each year)!

I guess "fraternity" and "sorority" were used interchangeable then, or am I misinterpreting the rules? I see back then it was okay to punish a sorority by limiting pledge class size...

Yes, on another page it says "sorority & fraternity" are used interchangeably...

And the collegians look so mature and Donna Reed-like.

I thought the same thing! They look like my 30ish-yr-old mother did in the early 1960s!

honeychile 07-03-2013 12:32 PM

Two of the ADPis at the Southern Garden Party are wearing dresses that blend in with the grass - they look like those old fashioned doll cakes!

NutBrnHair 07-03-2013 02:31 PM

This also reminded me that several Texas schools use/d the term "Rush Captain" instead of Chair or Chairman. Maybe I've heard that at L.S.U. too, but not many other places.

Are you scanning this from the booklet or can this be found online? I'd just love to read the whole thing. Love how they all look so sophisticated.

LOL No, I'm holding it right here in my own two hands! Posting a few pics here and there as I find time. :)

I was thinking the same thing in terms of young women in general back then.
These are great NutBrnHair! Thank you for posting them!:)

33girl 07-04-2013 12:26 PM

The loafers and socks in Dallas are making my feet sweat just thinking about it. Bleah!!!! My mom could not get over the fact that we would wear Keds-like sneakers or flats WITHOUT socks or knee hi's.

Sciencewoman 07-04-2013 12:52 PM

I love how it suggests wearing the same dress two days in a row for the second round. In Hot weather. Yuck.

TriDeltaSallie 07-04-2013 10:56 PM

These are great! I hope you will post all of them! :)

My mother-in-law and her sisters were in sororities at LSU in 1960. I love looking at their pictures. I'll see if I can find their yearbooks next time I see them.

Is this from a Rush book given to all the Rushees?

Sciencewoman 07-06-2013 11:53 AM

Do you think Lady Anne Chamberlain is a member of the nobility, or is this like Lady Bird Johnson?

Missouri Ivy 07-06-2013 12:10 PM

When I saw the picture, I thought maybe that was the title given to their president. I forgot about Lady Bird Johnson. On my dad's side, we have great aunts Birdy, Opal, Jewell, and Priddy, so why not a Lady?

Yes, published by the Panhellenic Assoc of S.M.U.

SWTXBelle 07-06-2013 03:43 PM

I've known a few women named "Lady" - not as uncommon in the south as you would think.

I had a Princess in my class last semester - but that's a bit overreaching, I think.

stargirl007 07-06-2013 03:51 PM
