3. Down By The River (with a hanky-panky, while the bullfrogs jump from bank to bank... ;) )
4. Bo-Bo-Skee-Wotten-Totten (please tell me somebody remembers this)

I think I'm with you for your #1-3! And CT's Twill lil lee!
Man I used to love me some Down By the River....speaking of which, I was trying to teach a friend (in college :D) how to play the game, and one of the girls on my hall came to play and we ended up arguing for almost an hour cause she wanted to say that the song said..."while the BULLDOGS jumped from bank to bank" I'm like, WhenTH did Bulldogs start jumping from bank to bank? ...We decided to call in someone else off the hall and this girl said that she thought it said "Bulldogs" too! I was like, I don't know who taught them that version, but they needed to be slapped! Now I'm glad that I know someone else, other than the people I grew up with, that knows the correct version of the song! ;)

I remember:

Slide
Rockin Robin
Miss Mary Mack
Have-A-Coke & A-Smile

POST THE LYRICS

How about you all post the lyrics so we can see because some of them sound familiar but if I had the words they might confirm for me if I really do know them.

CJUS 12-31-2001 01:07 PM

Shame, Shame, Shame
Down in the Valley
Rockin Robin
Have a coke and a smile
Oh, Sailor
Pepsi Cola, number 9
Have you ever, ever, ever...
See, See, my Playmate
Oh mary Mack

Ooh, these bring back so many memories

DST Love 12-31-2001 02:21 PM

I just played Slide with my little cousins when I was back in Illinois for Christmas. My sister and I could play Slide very fast for a long time. And now they got me doing "Miss Sue". They are so cute when they do it. Even my little two-year-old cousin can do all of "Miss Sue".

Others...

1. Down Down Baby
2. Have you ever, ever, ever...
3. Miss Susie (different from Miss Sue)
4. One about McDonald's (can't remember all of it)
5. Three sailors
6. See see my playmate
7. Rockin Robin

That's all I can remember for now.

See now, I was the West Philadelphia Champion of "Have a Coke and a Smile." That was my game! I loved Slide and Miss Mary Mack too!

We also used to play two other games that really don't have names. I don't know if anyone else would remember them.

1. We played with the song that started "down by the river in the hanky panky, and the bullfrogs jump from bank to bank"

2. The other we played with four people and we called it "Mamma-said-a-he'd-a-said-a"

Did anyone else play these ones?

Mz. Sports Luva 12-31-2001 03:26 PM

How could I 4get...

Ms. Lucy. Man, this one was my favorite. Is this the same as Miss Susie? I've never heard that one.

Anyway, here's the lyrics to Ms. Lucy:

Ms. Lucy had a baby, she named him Tiny Tim
She put him in the bathtub to see if he could swim
He drunk up all the water, he ate up all the soap
He tried to eat the bathtub, but it wouldn't go down his throat
Ms. Lucy called the doctor, the doctor called the nurse
Ms. Lucy called the doctor with the the alligator purse

I also remember the McDonald's one too.

RENEEDST_22 12-31-2001 07:05 PM

How about Chinese Jump Rope????? :)

novella000 12-31-2001 11:52 PM

ummm yeah... back on topic

HOT HANDS!!!

You all remember that?

And THUMP!!!

You've got all of us reminiscing...
Chinese Jump rope... double dutch... Roller skating...
I was a young tom-boy... Tackle football in the streets... Climbing trees and the like.

The winters, they seemed, warmer,
The summers brighter... ahhh
Caaaaannn it be that it was aaaaaaallll so simple then?
Has time rewritten every linnnnneee
And if we had the chance to do it all again
Tell me,
Would we?
Could we?
Meeeeeemmmmoooorrries, light the corners of my mind...

I love that song

amanda831 10-11-2008 10:17 PM

Spinderella 10-12-2008 08:59 AM

Well since you bumped this...

Hands up to 85...
Lyrics:

Hands up to 85
Gonna get
Names of (whatever subject, boys, schools, cars, colors)
No hesitations
No Demonstrations
So let's go
Starting with (name of a person in the circle)

Honeykiss1974 10-12-2008 09:29 AM

Lol, did anyone do Miss Suzie? That was one we had to do out of teacher-earshot. :o

Miss Suzie had a steamboat
The steamboat had a bell
Miss Suzie went to heaven
The steamboat went to...
Hello operator
Please give me #9
And if you disconnect me
I'll kick your little...
Behind the 'frigerator
There was a piece of glass
Miss Suzie sat on top of it
And broke her little...
Ask me no more questions
And tell me no more lies
The boys are in the bathroom
Zipping up their...
Flies are in the meadow
And bees are in the ark
Miss Suzie's at the movies
Kissing in the d-a-r-k d-a-r-k
DARK DARK DARK!

We thought we were "so bad." Now, I see how elementary school it was. :D

I.A.S.K. 10-12-2008 03:07 PM

Concentration and Skip-It (the toy) were the best things ever.

BlessedOne04 10-13-2008 12:57 AM

We did this version too. except in our version, it was "Miss Susie had a seagull, the seagull had a bell...." and at the end it was "Miss Suzie's at the movies kissing in the d-a-r-k, DARK is like the movies, the movies like a show. The show is like a TV set and that is all I know. I know I know my Ma, I think I know my Dad, I think I know my sister with the apple on her head."

Hm...now that I think about it, thats pretty weird lol

Everyone seems to be calling it this, but we always said "Down by the BANKS" so that way it rhymed. I'd never heard it with "River" until this thread.

Spinderella 10-15-2008 08:38 PM

Look who's here
Punchinella, Punchinella,
Look who's here
Punchinella in the zoo
So what can you do?
Punchinella, Punchinella
What can you do, Punchinella in the zoo
Oh we can do it too,
Punchinella, Punchinella
We can do it to
Punchinella in the zoo.

Spinderella 10-15-2008 08:40 PM

Little Sally Walker
Walking down the street
She didn't know what to do
So she jumped in front of me
Said, Go on girl
Shake that thang, shake that thang, shake that thang
Go on girl
Shake that thang, shake that thang, stop.

Dionysus 10-15-2008 09:53 PM

Keep the Beat or Lick the Seat!

"Keep the beat or lick the seat!"
*Pat on the lap*
*Pat on the lap*
*clap*
*Pat on the lap*
*Pat on the lap*
*clap*
*Dionysus snaps her left fingers and says her name*
*Dionysus snaps her right fingers and says christiangirl*

If christiangirl loses her concentration or the beat, or can't come up with someone's name quickly when she snaps her right fingers, she has to lick the seat. :p

christiangirl 10-15-2008 11:01 PM

Ewwww! I refuse to play out of principle. I won't subject anyone to that. Who knows whose booty meat used to be in that chair.
