Alpha Delta Pi Trivia
Post some bits of trivia about ADPi here, even if you think others already know it. There's bound to be some things that your sisters didn't know!
I just recently found out that Grand Council (is it still called Grand Council?) members receive an Adelphean Badge replica to wear! I'd probably be in Pin Attire constantly! |
I really wish I knew some good ADPi trivia--I hope other people post!
This is all I can think of right now... Texas Tech's "logo" is the "double T" and our chapter was Epsilon Epsilon http://chronicle.com/img/photos/biz/..._tech_logo.jpg so we were known as "EE @ TT" |
We were always known as the Badass chapter (Beta Alpha) and we only referred to Claire Brown Gwaltney as CBG....but that's not really trivia. I can't think of anything else
|
The original symbol and mascot of Alpha Delta Phi was... a unicorn. I wonder where Alphie came from?

This isn't really ADPi trivia but I thought it was interesting trivia....
Elle and Dakota Fanning are ADPi legacies. I saw it online somewhere and figured it was urban legend but it checked out with Pride Online. Their mom is Heather Arrington Fanning from Epsilon Pi. Here's a random question that I haven't been able to find the answer to... How would you spell "We live for each other" in Greek? |

We were taught Boethia Uper Allion (not so sure about the spelling). |
Thank you Honey! I knew we had learned it but I couldn't remember it or find my old binder.

Since it's Convention time, I'm hoping someone can add something to this thread...

How about a list of famous ADPi's?
|
One of my favorites is Jean Smart, of Designing Women fame. We share a birthday, although not the year.
|
Jeff Foxworthy's wife Gregg is a Beta Nu and their daughter will be a Freshman at Auburn. I don't know if the daughter is going through Recruitment or not?

This is amazing--we should be able to find plenty of trivia in the new digital archives!
|
Luke Bryan's wife is an ADPi! She's so gorgeous in his new video!
|
Several interesting tidbits I saw on Twitter during Convention..please correct me if I'm inaccurate.....

Do we have a date for this? If it was 2010, then it is my daughter :) .
Wowza! They did not share a date. What an incredible ADPi legacy in your family...I would love to hear more about it! |

Just a minute, azureblue. When I was in school, we had to pledge a 5-generation legacy. She did not want to go Greek, and made it very clear, but her family forced her to do so. She pledged, got initiated at Convention, and transferred to a school without ADPi. Are they not counting her, or what?
Or, *gasp*, did somebody lie to us about the number of generations? If so, they owe my chapter a HUGE apology, because she was a real piece of work! |

ADPi Great Grandma--->ADPi Grandma-->ADPi Mom--->2 ADPi sisters--->ADPi legacy |
I think the Adelphean has shown photos of multiple generations prior to my daughter joining also. I texted her to see if she was THE Beta Epsilon 4th generation, her response- maybe? Now if they mean 4 generations of Beta Epsilons, then no it is not her.

They didn't go into specifics, but I am thinking that they mean:
Great grandmother --> Grandmother --> Mother/Sister --> PNM?? This has me very curious now! I have seen PNM's with triple legacies two grandmothers and a mom or mom and two sisters...but never in a line like above. |
They didn't go into specifics, but I am thinking that they mean:
Great grandmother --> Grandmother --> Mother --> PNM?? This is exactly our lineage in ADPi. On another interesting note, I have another daughter. She went through recruitment and chose another group :(. Her chapter could have had bragging rights as well. She loves her group and I am happy for her. |

It's been a while, but I'm fairly sure that our "5 generation legacy" was ADPi Great Grandma--->ADPi Grandma-->ADPi Mom--->2 ADPi aunts--->ADPi legacy. Still not five generations. I feel a little robbed, NOT because of bragging rights, but because of all of the problems our chapter had due to this little Madam! |

I can only imagine how special it is to you and your family! :) I am glad your other daughter found her home...even if it is not at ADPi. I'll bet the ADPi chapter was crushed! |
I love hearing the lineage stories. My birth sister is my closest legacy. She was President of the chapter the year I was a sophomore, and was also the Sweetheart of Sigma Chi that same year. The composite of the year when she was president is hanging in the beautiful foyer of the sorority house. When I took my daughter to visit a few years ago, I took a picture of her standing by the composite and sent it to my sister. Sweet memories!
Re Luke Bryan's wife: she is from my chapter (and he was a Sigma Chi at the same school). 'Course we're separated by just a FEW years! atrianglepi: USC is my daughter's number 1 choice of school for next year. She said it just felt like "home." This is interesting, because most people from our school go to UGA, Auburn, or Alabama. There are only two other girls from any recent history of our school who have chosen USC. They are both currently juniors. One is a Phi Mu and one is a Zeta. We are going to visit Alabama soon, and have already done Georgia. But since June, her heart is at USC. |
BBelleADPi- sent you a PM, but it said your mailbox is full.

It is now cleaned out. Send away!

Amazing news from Executive Office via Facebook! This is so, so special!
We have some exciting news trickling into Executive Office. This Formal Recruitment season, we have pledged two descendants of Octavia Andrew Rush, new Alphas Carrie from Beta Omega and Caroline from Beta Sigma and a descendant of Elizabeth Williams Mitchell new Alpha Jane at Beta Epsilon! |

Descendents from Octavia Andrew Rush Carrie - Beta Omega/Auburn Caroline - Beta Sigma/Mercer Descendent from Ella Pierce Turner Anna - Zeta Omicron/Georgia Tech Descendent from Elizabeth Williams Mitchell Jane - Beta Epsilon/South Carolina **Fun fact on Jane (per the notes from the Facebook post). It looks like she is the daughter of Ferebee, the descendent who was initiated at Grand Convention in 2011 in Phoenix! This was so special...especially after the first portrait of Elizabeth Williams Mitchell was presented at Convention! I just love my ADPi! |
I am as lazy as sin, but had to sign in to add to this thread. I love traditions, especially Southern ones. I know two girls who are currently in the Tech and Auburn chapters; I'd love to ask them about these girls. I think those would be some very special initiations!
Now, while I'm signed in...off to the other thread. |
