What sororities have online rec forms?

I was just curious as to what sororities have an online form for their recruitment recommendations? I know AGD has one, whereas ADPi provides a downloadable doc that must be mailed to the chapter. I think the online rec is a great idea! Has your sorority started using an online form?

We have what you do.

I know that AST used to have a downloadable doc available on their website, but it's been updated recently, so that may have changed. There is an alumnae resources area which you need to request access to, so perhaps that's where it is now. Whether or not it can be filled out online (which is, I think, what you're asking), I'm not sure.

AOII has an online form that you complete. You can also upload copies of a resume and photo. Then HQ sends it all on electronically to the correct chapter.

Theta Phi Alpha also has our rec form on the sisters-only side of the site. Makes it so easy!

KD just switch this year. It is causing quite a stir in our KD alumnae world especially in large cities where Reference Boards have ruled for years. Both hard copy and online are accepted but I know the chapters will probably prefer the online version. I think it will be great especially if one day we can have something more like Chi O has theirs set up. At least it is a beginning.

We (Delta Zeta) have a form that we download and then submit to the collegiate chapter, but wow...this would be great!!

Titchou 04-13-2013 07:32 PM

Delta Gamma has a downloadable form and you can email it to the chapter directly.

AZTheta 04-13-2013 07:51 PM

Kappa Alpha Theta has an online form. An alumna can also download and submit a paper copy.

Titchou 04-13-2013 07:57 PM

Can't all of you just scan it and email it if it's not a Word doc? I can't believe that orgs out there today only want hard copies.

Phi Mu has added online reference forms with picture and document uploads as well. They have also added an online legacy introduction form.

What does each chapter of any organization prefer? If we're putting together rec packets do we add a stamped and addressed envelope for each or request they go onto their individual national websites and submit it that way? No doubt that one of these days it will evolve into an entirely electronic process. For now though it seems it might be easier to do it the old fashioned way - less confusing, anyway.

I have most of my rec writers e-mail addresses. I was going to ask them if they wanted the information electronically or snail mail.

AXO now has a form on line but you can only fill it out then print it. I think they are working towards it being completely electronic at some point.

Titchou 04-14-2013 12:05 PM

If someone asks me to write one, I ask for it electronically. If the chapter wants a hard copy, THEY can print it out.

KD has an online form, but I believe it is new this year. I was just informed about it via our quarterly magazine, so maybe I was just unaware? Resume and photo may be submitted along with the form. I'm excited to use it, though I wish there was a way to pause filling it out. You apparently can't stop filling out the form and come back to it.

As per my HQ website

The sorority asks that — whenever possible — Kappa Deltas use the online recommendation and legacy introduction forms, rather than the hard copy forms.
I imagine it is harder to lose a rec this way. I can just imagine papers going all over the place and one letter getting misplaced.

I wouldn’t worry about asking which each prefers – just go ahead with the hard copy packets, including the addressed envelope with postage and a personal note of thanks, and then the individual alums can enter the info online if they prefer. It is worth potentially wasting a little in unused postage to eliminate the extra step of contacting dozens of alums to ask which they prefer, IMO, and still allows the alum the option of mailing (especially in the event of technical difficulties).

I agree that one day an electronic process will be in place for most, but meanwhile, some of the older alums may not use or prefer an online process, and some alums turn in the hard copy recs and packets to their local alum club for delivery to the chapter.

*Also – when calculating postage for the addressed envelope included in the packet, add several sheets of paper to account for the rec forms that will be added, and have the post office weigh the entire packet, including the envelope. That way you will know you have included sufficient postage.

Love this. Will be checking it out this year when "rec season" in my community starts.

And it's automatically routed through the local alumnae reference board!

I'm curious, how does Chi O have theirs set up? I'm pushing for our org to start using rec forms and legacy info forms.

I didn't do any RIF's last year, but you can do EVERYTHING ONLINE! Including uploading a photo & listing their facebook link & other website link (like twitter, etc). There's no separate upload for a Recruitment Resume, but I ask anyone I'm writing a RIF for to paste a photo onto their resume and save it as a pdf.

I've done the same thing for Theta. And - we can attach resumes, photos, etc. So awesome!

Sigma Kappa has an online rec form now. I recently filled it out for a lovely young woman who will attend Oregon State. I had to email photo and resume to the address provided, though the rec form instructions on sigmakappa.org says we will soon be able to upload resumes and pics there.
