The best thing about being Greek?!
What is the best thing about being Greek, in your personal experience??
I personally love being Greek and there are so many reasons for this. But I would have to say that some of the best things are my sisters, the philanthropic opportunities and of course http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/tongue.gif the social aspect. But most importantly, my sisters are my support system here at school and they mean the world to me. We have so much fun together and whenever I need anything I know I can always count on my sisters. I think that is what being Greek is all about- Sisterhood and Brotherhood. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif |
I'm not a Greek yet, I'm rushing next semester, but I love hanging out at the fraternity house and I like having people say things like "Yeah, Billy's here..he's coming out next semester" when I walk up to the door. I also like being in a place where you can tell everyone cares about each other despite personal differces. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

There is so much great things about being in a sorority. but to sum up my favotite thing about it
in one word...sisterhood it means the world to me, it makes the stress of college lightened, to know you have great sisters to be there for you no matter what, is a great feeling. Zeta Tau Alpha ------------------ "Only The Best Get Crowned" |
Zeta Girl said it all!!!Ditto!!!

To quote a girl I've never met "Chi-O made me a woman" A girl who's a senior now asked an active during her rush what Chi-O had done for her, and that is what she said. That quote has made it's way through the years because it is so true. In fact, I might make it my little footer. Being greek has given me girls to look up to, girls to hang out with, girls to study with, girls to walk to class with, girls to work with...where else can you find all of that in one place?

Definitely the people I meet...that especially goes my brothers, but also all the other people. I've met some really awsome people in the Greek system, some of the nicest, most down-to-earth, most fun people that I've met anywhere, and that's what makes the whole experience, that's why I rushed in the first place and that's why I like where I am now.

Sisterhood, I got the chance to bond with some many females from all over , no matter what our differances are.
Also the chance to meet other greeks, thats always fun. The more the merrier http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif One and much greek love and unity DGPhoney~ ------------------ "Simply the Best, Delta Gamma Pi" http://everythingblack.websitenow.com/citron |
The feeling you get from carrying on a tradition, from being a small part of a larger whole, from being able to meet another sister for the first time and know that she shares much of the same knowledge and ideals that you do. Another great thing about being Greek is having the opportunity to share ideas with and learn from the awesome folks who post on GC!

The best THINGS about being Greek:
*having 178,000 women you can call "sister" *being a part of an even bigger family of 3,000,000 women (the NPC) *scholarships, scholarships, scholarships! *having people willing to put up with you...especially on bad days *opportunity for MORE opportunities and the best part.. *having Brady gone for two months at a time when he's on patrol is difficult. My sisters are the ones that get me through it. ------------------ "Talk doesn't cook rice."--Someone smart Visit Alpha Gamma Delta-Delta Sigma chapter and help some sisters out! |
For it to be close to 10 years later and I still vacation with my sisters, I get emails weekly from them and that I have met 30 plus more wonderful sisters thru this channel!!!
Never ever would I change my mind about going Greek!!!! |
If I had to narrow it down, I would say the oppurtunities.
Not only do we get the chance to work with some of the best women around we get to work and have fun. My sister Nicole, from our Alpha chapter, told me that KD broke her down and built her up into the best women she could have imagined to be! I agree 100%! |
Expanding on what Ecukd said...opportunities. The chance to build such a strong relationship with strangers over the course of three or four years, that will hopefully last a lifetime. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

My parents, who neither went to college, and didn't like me joining a sorority telling me that when I am here I smile wider, have more fun and laugh louder because of the joy the women in chapter bring me. SO much so that my parents even let eight of us sleep at my house one night and they stayed up talking with us all night!

Ah, the Brotherhood/Sisterhood stand out so very strong on this site and to me this says it all. I attended a Regional Conclave and what I told them in my meeting room, the Brother from my chapter was as close as a Brother could be, and all of the others were while Brothers were my cousins. It is a Family.
Greek Societys have a closer knit bond, they have better grades, they are more polished, and are able to cope with the real world because of the training and the things they learnd from being officers and on commitees for the interaction, and working together as a group to accomlish things that the one could not do While this is a thumbnail, there are really to many things that can be said and each and everyone have the feeling inside of us. In all honesty, I love the fact that I am associated with a group of individuals who can go anywhere and accomplish any task at hand. These are people that stress the importance of service to humanity, yet know how to have a good time as well. Also, the love and respect that most of the other GLO's on campus have for one another, whether they be social or service. When there's harmony in the Greek system, everyone benefits!!!

The best part of going Greek for me has not just been meeting the wonderful girls that I am now proud to call my sisters. I am enjoying being part of the larger Greek community at RU. It's awesome to know that even though we are all members of different organizations that we are still united by a special bond. "No matter the letter, we're all Greek together"
|
I think the best part about being greek and esp. Phi Mu is the bond of sisterhood I have made with not only my chapter, but surrounding Phi Mu's.
Phi Mu has brought out a part of me I didn't know I had. They are the best group of girls I have ever met! I love every sister as a real blood sister, so I guess that's what you could say is my fav. part about being greek! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif Not to mention the boys are ok too!!!! Love in Phi Mu!!!!! |
I think the best part of being in a sorority is, not only the sisterhood within the sorority but, the love of the Greek community. In the fall a member of another sorority was killed in a hit & run and the way that all the Greeks pulled together to support those girls was wonderful! I love seeing us pull together when times are good and when they are bad.

I totally agree with my girl Leslie! I love being greek because of the experience of being greek. I love my chapter more than words can express and I love all that we are, but I have always felt being greek goes soooo much deeper than just the GLO you are in. It's the fact that you have this common bond with all these people in all these different orgs, you have this love for something so beautiful like greek life. I had a friend who was an AXO die a couple of years ago and through that I met her sisters, some DPhiE's and some ZTA's from Central Mich Univ. and the second we met there was a common bond that we all knew sisterhood and greekhood. I work for the University of Michigan and I meet people from many different orgs and whenever I meet them we already have this connection of being greek and knowing what it is all about. I am a member of AGD, but I am also a member of panhellenic and greek life in general. I love all greeks and all greek orgs and I am so proud to be a part of it all. I've known since 5th grade that I wanted to be greek, and now that I am, I know why. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

For me, its gotta be staying up till all hours of the am chatting with your brothers about nothing. Having those deep conversations where you end up pondering the meaning of the universe. Gotta love that. Was up till 4am last night discussing I dont even remember.
Or, meeting a brother for the first time, and that look, like even though you've never met, its like you've known each other forever. I guess its that shared experience thing. WAY too cool. Knowing youve experienced the same things, and felt the same things. It rocks. My two cents. |
Fraternity life is the best. I'm a sophomore now and I don't know what I would do without my brothers by me. This is my second year in this fraternity and it's one of the best things I've done. What have I built upon:
-Scholarship -Brotherhood -Community Service -Cultural awarness These are the things I live to serve day in and day out. Thanks to my brothers, I have become a stronger man. -------- Dongkun "Papi Chulo" Ko Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity Inc. www.sigmalambdabeta.com University of MN AB Chapter 15 of 27 |
You know, when I first joined Sigma Alpha, I knew from the beginning that it would be like no other sorority, and it has its uniqueness(did I spell that right?) And sometimes, I think about how at first I did not want to join a sorority because of the common saying "I didnt want to pay for my friends." Now I look back, and realize, how great it is to be part of the greek system. I can imagine, not being in it, and wondering what it would be like. But I dont have to worry about that now. I am in a wonderful sorority, and I am proud to say that we are the only social and professional sorority on LSU's campus. We may be small, but that does not matter. We may not have a house, but that does not matter either. All that matters is that I have awesome sisters, each with our own diverse personalities. By the way, I am SO excited to see Dave MAtthews this weekend at Jazz Fest. WHOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Hey everyone, good luck on finals!!!!! |
Bringing this to the top.
Have a good one fellow GCers. |
