GLOs for which Omega is for deceased?
According to http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...ad.php?t=57799
the follow GLOs reserve Omega chapter for those who have passed on. Alpha Phi Alpha Alpha Sigma Phi Chi Omega Omega Delta Phi Omega Psi Phi Sigma Gamma Lambda Sigma Sigma Sigma Does anyone know of any more GLOs for which this is true? |
Edit: I thought LXA did it, but I just remembered our Omega Zeta at Auburn ...
|
We have no Omegas in our chapter designations, but our deceased members belong to the Chapter Eternal.
|
We too have the Chapter Eternal.
Omega chapter is our Iowa State University chapter. |
Omega is also reserved for deceased members in:
Phi Beta Sigma Sigma Lambda Beta Sigma Lambda Gamma Lambda Theta Alpha |
Alpha Xi Delta also has Chapter Eternal. We include Omega in chapter designations and also have an Omega chapter (at Stetson).
|
I wonder if Chi Omega was the first to do this?
|
Delta Phi Epsilon uses Chapter Eternal as well. Omega chapter is at the University of Miami.
|
Delta Gamma does not use any of these designations.

My memory from when my father died is that Kappa Sigma uses Chapter Celestial. |
KD uses "the Chapter Eternal."
|
Alpha Gamma Delta uses Chapter Grand.
|
Here's another thread about Omega designations from a few years back, too.
ETA: Popular topic! Found this one and this one if anyone is keeping track or compiling info. |
Chapter Eternal
|
Alpha Phi calls it the Silent Chapter

From the above comments and the threads the list is now.
Alpha Phi Alpha Alpha Sigma Phi Chi Omega Lambda Theta Alpha Omega Delta Phi Omega Psi Phi Phi Beta Sigma Sigma Gamma Rho Sigma Lambda Beta Sigma Lambda Gamma (mistyped as SGL above) Sigma Sigma Sigma |

EDIT: Good job compiling the list. |

FWIW, I've been asking for years when we're going to have some special designation for our dearly departed.
|
So for groups that have a special "chapter" designation, do they still list the member in their orignial collegiate chapter?
Ex) Jane Smith, Alpha Beta - Omega; or, Jane Smith, Omega |

Tau Kappa Epsilon uses the Chapter Eternal designation for fraters who have passed away.

Chapter Eternal
I guess Gamma Phis affiliate with the Chapter Eternal but are designated by their initiating chapter - just as on this terrestrial plain a Gamma Phi is always identified by her chapter of initiation even if she affiliates with another.
|
We don't have a separate chapter for deceased members. We do refer to those men as having entered a "higher court."

Slightly stepping out of my lane here, I'm almost positive that Kappa Alpha Psi uses "Chapter Invisible".
