2013 Badge Day - Wear Your Letters On Your Heart

From the NPC - " On Monday, March 4, these women — who number in the millions — will celebrate International Badge Day during National Women’s History Month. On that day, all of us will honor our separate and distinct Greek-letter affiliations by wearing our badges or letters.
It’s a day set aside to acknowledge successful women around the globe, whether they are U.S. senators or university freshmen working for humanitarian aid in far-away continents."

That announcement is from last year. This year the 5th is a Tuesday.

ComradesTrue 02-26-2013 11:21 AM

Our APH schedules a dinner out every year on Badge Day. My favorite part is that we pass our badges around the table to admire the beautiful designs of all the groups.

Gee I wonder what badge you'll be wearing? :D

Yes, one downside to owning that Dyer is that none of my other badges seem to come up in rotation much. I must find a way to wear badges more often.

That's a great idea. I'll pass it along to Tucson Alumnae Panhellenic.

Fixed it!

honeychile 02-26-2013 04:33 PM

We have an Alumnae Association meeting, and I guess no one checked with the NPC, as we're to wear special t-shirts!

I guess I'll wear my ring pin?

ctgirl 02-27-2013 04:58 PM

Badge Day is Monday, March 4th and is NOT Tuesday, March 5th FYI!

You mean like it says in the first post, FYI?

ctgirl 02-27-2013 06:04 PM

Ahhhh yes...my bad! Thought the correction about the 5th was saying that this year badge day was Tuesday 5th!

The should have a blushing icon;)

honeychile 02-27-2013 06:17 PM

Btw, nice article, Belle!

Are you a young group? Middle-aged eyes and older, arthritic fingers might have trouble pinning those badges on again (to say nothing of getting them pinned on straight)! :)

Haha! No, we run the gamut from 20s to 60s, with a pretty equal distribution. I don't think there are any that are older than 60s though.

I hadn't thought about that. Will have to watch this year what people do. I think last year I wore my pin, then simply stuck it in the pillow (I still have it 20+ years later!) at the end? I can't remember.

honeychile 03-04-2013 01:03 AM

I wore my pin to church today, since I telecommute and have an alumnae meeting tomorrow night. We're to wear t-shirts. If I'm to be active in this chapter, I think we need a little more NPC love!

groovypq 03-04-2013 02:13 AM

I work from home, but I'll dress up for my prenatal appointment just so I can wear my badge! :-)

lovespink88 03-04-2013 02:18 AM

I feel guilty about skipping, especially now that I'm advising, but my office is just too casual for pin attire AND I'm meeting cousins (at a brewery) for dinner that night. I am however, plan on wearing double blue with and my gold quill ring!

KillarneyRose 03-04-2013 08:57 AM

Proudly sporting my Lamp this morning! It's been awhile since I've worn it and I'd forgotten how long it takes me to get the Badge and the guard straight so I was almost late for work!

This is the first year I've been able to participate due to a job interview and a trip out of the country. The thought counts!

I haven't decided which badge to wear yet. So many choices! :D

chi-o_cat 03-04-2013 09:19 AM

I am wearing my badge! I think this is the first year I actually remembered, thanks to some sisters who made sure to post plenty of reminders on Facebook. :)

SigKapSweetie 03-04-2013 10:01 AM

Proudly sporting my golden triangle today, and I posted on facebook to remind all of my panhellenic friends!

ADPi95 03-04-2013 10:04 AM

I work mostly from home, but Monday is one of the days I teach at the college, so I'll be sporting my new updated badge!

Sciencewoman 03-04-2013 10:17 AM

Proudly wearing a 1919 historic Beta chapter badge that was given to me by an old family friend/chapter sister when I initiated. She was 83 when she gave it to me...and lived to be 99.

I LOVE this! This is what should happen to Badges; love them and then pass them on to another sister who will love it too. None of this "Ooooh, pretty pin. I think I'll add it to my collection even though I have absolutely no understanding of the significance behind it" nonsense you see on online auction sites.

KKGAlumDGMom 03-04-2013 11:32 AM

Proudly wearing my Kappa Key today to work!!! I think this is the first time as an alum I am wearing it to a non-Kappa event. Should be interesting to see the questions I receive. Secretly hoping I may have a sister somewhere amongst my co-workers.

Amazing! Do you have a picture of your badge?

I am wearing my badge today..it's a good thing that the snowstorm is slated for tomorrow and not today :)

ASTalumna06 03-04-2013 07:08 PM

I wore my badge to work today. Many people took notice, but I didn't find any sisters (AST or NPC) today. Maybe next year!

Although.. the night is still young...

IUHoosiergirl88 03-04-2013 07:13 PM

Wore my badge today, got lots of questions about the 'fancy pin'! A co-worker who is an Alpha Phi couldn't find hers, otherwise she was going to wear her pin

AlwaysSAI 03-04-2013 07:26 PM

I wore my AGD polo today so that my letters were over my heart. (: I have a job interview tomorrow afternoon, so I am contemplating wearing my badge tomorrow.

aephi alum 03-04-2013 08:26 PM

I telecommute, so I didn't really have an opportunity to wear my badge. I did change my Facebook icon to a picture of an AEPhi badge, though, so at least I am representing my sorority that way.

AGDee 03-04-2013 08:27 PM

I wore my badge with my shiny new Crescent of Epsilon Pi guard that I was awarded at Convention this summer. Nobody said a word...lol. I did realize, as I was putting it on, that I have had it for 29 years now. When I got my Crescent, I put it on my original badge, not the vintage badge that I have. My Arc of Epsilon Pi with Diamonds is on the vintage one. I don't know which honors track I will continue with so I want to have both available at any time. For non-Alpha Gams, they are awards for service to the Fraternity. The Arc series is for continuous, faithful and outstanding service to a local chapter, club, or levels of our volunteer services team. The Crescent is for the same type of service, but at the International level (directors, regional coordinators or International Council). My Arc with Diamonds represents 17 years of service. My Crescent represents 5 years. My next honor will depend on what direction I want to go with my service and I haven't quite decided that yet :)

IndianaSigKap 03-04-2013 08:36 PM

I wore my new badge with the alternating emeralds and pearls! And a student asked me what it was so I got to talk about it, even better.

pshsx1 03-04-2013 08:46 PM

Even though we don't "observe" the occasion, I whipped my badge out too! My workplace is pretty casual, so I wore my alumnus pin on my coat lapel today. :)

Yay! I love it. I got my boyfriend to wear his pin to work today. His office is only three other people, but hey why not?

Still haven't ordered my replacement badge so I wore my lavalier instead.

I'd love to see pictures. I love learning about the way in which each org honors members. Your Arc, Zeta's ring, etc.

AGDLynn 03-04-2013 11:39 PM

Went to a Panhellenic dinner tonight and had a great time!

Sat between an AGD I already knew and an KD (who works with their chapter at my alma mater) and across from 2 SKs, AXO (maybe) and Zeta. Several GPhiBs (I guess, lol), Phi Mus, ChiO, AST, AXiD (?) and not sure what else.

AnchorAlumna 03-04-2013 11:47 PM

I work at our family's shop, which is full of black sawdust, so no badge apparel for me! I did wear a pretty silver and rhinestone anchor on a silver necklace that my hubby got me for Christmas year before last.
Kinda miss those days when I dressed up for work.

AOII Angel 03-04-2013 11:55 PM

I wore my ruby A, pearl O, ruby point Pi badge today. I stood out nicely on my black shirt. Not a single comment, though.

TPA85 03-05-2013 12:23 AM

Couldn't wear mine today since my job requires me to wear scrubs but I posted a picture of my badge on my facebook page and a couple coworkers asked about it.

AGDee and I were awarded Crescents at the same time - here's a picture of my badge with the Crescent:

And here is a badge with the Arc with Diamond [representing a minimum of 11 years continued faithful service to Alpha Gam]:
