Chi Omega is NPC Chair for 2013-15

Jean Mrasek, Chi Omega, will rotate into the NPC Chair in October 2013 for a 2 year term.

Only 3 Chi Omegas have held this position: Jobelle Holcombe, Mary Love Collins and Elizabeth Dyer.

NutBrnHair 02-11-2013 03:06 PM

Several of Jean's close Chi Omega friends got together and purchased a Pandora-style bracelet for her from www.schoolbeads.com

It was presented to her last week during Firesides in Memphis. She loves it!

Flat Jean

This Chi Omega Elvis-inspired Sister distributed "Flat Jean" to each Panhellenic Delegate. All 174 chapters were charged with taking Flat Jean to Panhellenic meetings on their campus!

Each bead has 2 sides to it -- each with a different color, i.e., red/yellow for Chi Omega, etc.

ChioLu 02-11-2013 05:43 PM

Jean Mermoud Mrasek has also been the past National President of Chi Omega, plus held many other offices. She was Chapter President at the University of Tulsa (when I was a pledge), followed by being Chi O National Consultant. Her daughter graduated from Oklahoma University last year, where she was also the Chi Omega chapter president.

Love the "flat Jean"! (Maybe Chi O Creations will put it in the catalog ... hint, hint.)

Proud to know Jean and know she will be do an amazing job. Her son is also a campus leader at OU.

Glad for Chi O, but gladder she's an Oklahoma woman (and better yet, a Tulsan)!

That bracelet is so neat!!! Props to whoever sat there arranging and rearranging beads in different colors for I'm sure hours on end to make sure the final result was aesthetically pleasing as well as organizationally correct. :)

Thanks, 33girl! I think it did turn out really well and Jean loves it!

That bracelet is super cute! I have a question though. I know some sororities will not let anyone but initiated members wear their letters and some people can get pretty snitty about it. Is it proper for everyone's letters to be on that bracelet and for someone to wear it?

I would hope that as the NPC Chair, and in the spirit of it all, Ms. Mrasek would be allowed to "wear letters" in this fashion.

SigKapSweetie 02-13-2013 07:23 PM

That bracelet is freaking adorable. What a great idea!

Jean Mrasek will be installed as National Panhellenic Conference Chairman on Saturday, October 12, 2013 in Los Angeles.

ChioLu 08-08-2013 04:17 PM

I'm going! Got my invite Monday. Can't wait!
NPC business on Friday. (in case of any local NPC interest -- I won't be attending this day)
Installation on Saturday.
Chi Omega brunch on Sunday.

I think it is wonderful how the Chair position rotates. Everyone gets a turn. I wonder if Chi Omega will offer a specially colored NPC/Chi Omega badge, like they did for Sigma Kappa and (I think) Alpha Xi Delta. That would be fun!

You mean a special-colored Chi Omega badge? No, I doubt it. Only pearls & diamonds allowed.

Unless you find the one with all rubies that was stolen from Nationals (when it was in Cincy) or Jan Blackwell's (longtime Chi O Archivist) has a special ruby badge.

I keep telling my mom to find that badge in all the estate sales & shops she visits.

Girlmomx2 08-08-2013 09:31 PM

Love the bracelet!

Well, I think if the purpose was to honor NPC, it would have to be green stones, don't you think?

Let's see if I can find a picture of that antique emerald badge that recently surfaced...

AZTheta 08-09-2013 02:04 PM

Oh Nut, that emerald badge - so so lovely. *maybe* a slight hope that they... well... anyway... sigh.

ChioLu 08-10-2013 01:22 PM

If there's no photo of a special Chi Omega/NPC pin prior, I'll take a picture at the installation and post on GC.

I don't think there will be such a thing.

I *think* she means that there might be a special Chi O pin OR a special NPC pin worth photographing.

Never know... there can always be an exception made to any rule. Just never know...

Olivia Manning, wife of Sigma Nu husband Archie and Mom to Sigma Nu son, Eli.

AZTheta 07-22-2014 11:34 AM

Thanks! She wasn't a Greek woman, I take it.

FSUZeta 07-22-2014 02:29 PM

Oh no! Olivia Manning is a Delta Gamma. She joined DG at Ole Miss. She was also homecoming queen.

AZTheta 07-22-2014 04:29 PM

Wow! How cool is that!!!! Did I ever tell you how special Delta Gamma is to me?
