Monsters University

A fresh take on college life. I found the greek life page quite funny! http://monstersuniversity.com/edu/directions.html

OFFICE OF GREEK LIFE
The Greek Life office at Monsters University exists to empower brothers and sisters of the Greek community to develop the whole monster. Our dedicated advisors promote excellence in life decision-making, with a focus on the values of scholarship, friendship, leadership, and service.

RUSH
Each fall for hundreds of years, Rush Week has allowed new arrivals at Monsters U to spend some time getting know the Greek organizations on campus. Participation is crucial, as MU endeavors to make sure each match is a good match and each student finds a fitting family of brothers or sisters.

FRATERNITIES
Lifelong brotherhood is the most sacred of bonds. Only in one of MU's high-achieving, tradition-rich brotherhoods can young students meet strangers, become brothers, and look back one day, across the ages, and say "It all began during Rush Week."

Jaws Theta Chi (JOX)
Roar Omega Roar (ROR)
Omega Howl (OH)
Gamma Roar Roar (GRR)
Slugma Oozma Python (EOP)
Oozma Kappa (OK)

SORORITIES
Words fail when describing the "forever bonds" of Sisterhood. Through the best years of your life, one group of women will always be there for you, sharing in your joys and building memories together. The relationships of a lifetime begin at Rush Week.

Slugma Slugma Kappa (EEK)
Slugma Kappa Theta (EKO)
Eta Hiss Hiss (HSS)
Chi Phi Argma (XOA)
Python Nu Kappa (PNK)
Argma Slugma Argma (AEA)

I'm thinking I wanna join EEK (Slugma Slugma Kappa)

angels&angles 10-09-2012 08:20 PM

HSS all the way! EEK makes you have your horns into specific patters, you don't want them.

Greek Life at Monsters University

Anyone have photos? Do they have a row? I wonder if their advisor is here on GC. or any of the members. :)

People on the internet have too much time on their hands.

NinjaPoodle 02-02-2013 07:53 PM

LOL

It's not a fan site.

Disney put the site up. It's marketing for a Pixar movie that will be out this summer. Monsters University is the name of the movie. It's a prequel to Monsters Inc.

It's pretty cute. I don't know if I'd rather be a member of HSS or EEK.

amIblue? 02-02-2013 11:04 PM

I loved it!

adpiucf 02-02-2013 11:07 PM

Those would be hilarious code names for a future recruitment story thread. LOL.

IndianaSigKap 02-02-2013 11:14 PM

I saw the trailer for the movie this summer when I took my best friend's daughter to see Brave. The movie looks cute.

NinjaPoodle 02-03-2013 12:06 AM

Here is one trailer:

Slugma Oozma Python! Love it! Love Monsters Inc, can't wait to see the prequal.

pshsx1 02-04-2013 12:54 AM

haha cute website! I think Slugma Oozma Python speaks to me. :P

Psi U MC Vito 02-04-2013 01:04 PM

The scary thing is that the website is better designed then some real school sites I have visited.

chi-o_cat 02-04-2013 01:25 PM

Eta Hiss Hiss 4-Ever!

Sisssssters for life!

AZ-AlphaXi 02-04-2013 01:51 PM

There are 4 unlabeled houses on frat row .. I wonder if Monster's University is open for expansion?

NinjaPoodle 02-04-2013 01:56 PM

I want to know about reputations. Can't we discuss that here? :) I'm a freshman legacy and I want to know which houses are top tier. I don't want to rush any lower tier houses. Ugh.

DubaiSis 02-04-2013 04:21 PM

Well, for sure Upsilon Gamma Eta was on campus, but they closed because they sucked.

ZetaPhi708 02-04-2013 10:58 PM

This could be a good way for fraternities and sororities can be involved in local theater promotions for the release of the film; could tie in with summer college organizational fairs and philanthropies with the theaters also.

Sciencewoman 02-04-2013 11:25 PM

Only one dorm and lots of sorority and fraternity houses...obviously the administration is very supportive of Greek Life. :)

maconmagnolia 02-05-2013 12:46 AM

I think that's adorable!

Well, first I'd want to know why there are 12 G(M?)LOs and only 11 labelled houses. Oozma Kappa doesn't have a house on frat Row.

Also, I noticed that the map appears to match fairly well the images shown in the Viral trailer.

txAOII_15 04-16-2013 05:23 PM

This is cute but only includes some of the houses found at MU

Arg, looks like MU will be the animated Revenge of the Nerds or close to it...

OK, from the composites (which only include 6 each) we have the various stereotypes:
Oozma Kappa: Our heroes, accepting brothers that look as unalike as possible and with the exception of Sully pretty unathletically imposing. Only one Fraternity shirt and that one is knitted. (Tri-Lambs?)

Roar Omega Roar: Bad guys (Given that they include Randall) and all pretty athletically imposing with one with a ripped shirt. (Like the Alpha Betas without the Athletic idea)

Slugma Slugma Kappa: *PEPPY* sorority, Lots of variety but really happy!

Eta Hiss Hiss: Goth Girls. No smiles here (Omega Mus?)

Jaws Theta Chi: (letters look like JOX=Jocks) Definitely the Athletics half of the concept for the Alpha Betas, but may not be evil.

Python Nu Kappa: I didn't think MU had *that* many monsters with the same body type on the entire campus. Hello Stepford Sorority (Pi Delta Pi?)

*And* I just noticed that the Fraternity without a house is the one with our heroes in it.

Sully & Mike = Gilbert & Lewis?

And...

George Sanderson is a Jaws Theta Chi. So they probably are at worst Neutral toward our heroes' fraternity.

Don't know if this is new/more info than already posted here, but it's on the Pixar site: http://pixarne.ws/take-a-look-at-the...rs-university/

They even have a Greek Council

That isn't an official site, (that's Pixar.com), but there is a key piece of information on the plot...
"With only four bodies in the house, they don’t even have enough members to compete in the Scare Games."

Which means that we are probably looking at a Fraternity/Sorority *dominated* campus, in a way that we haven't seen since RotN.

TKESunDevil 04-20-2013 06:04 AM

I thought the commentary was pretty funny.

Disneystore.com is now selling Greek letter shirts for Oozma Kappa and Python Nu Kappa:

naraht 05-07-2013 12:51 PM

Oozma Kappa = Lambda Lambda Lambda

If you look at the descriptions of the groups found elsewhere with the join photos and the map of the campus, you'll see that Oozma Kappa which our main characters join is the only one without a house, lacks the number to participate in the scaring competition and has the nerdiest/geekiest/whatever characters (only one of the six has letters on and those letters are knit).

I am *quite* sure that like Revenge of the Nerds the primary plot of the movie will involve an underdog fraternity managing to make its way to winning the competition.

NinjaPoodle 05-07-2013 01:26 PM

Hey guys, I merged the two 'Monsters' threads.

Think my nephew will be getting the MU boys sneakers for Christmas ...

I caught an advanced screening for college students near school as a study break during finals, and despite the fact that I don't go to a traditionally Greek univsersity, all of us who saw it and were members of sororities/fraternities agreed that it was probably one of the most realistic portrayals of Greek life we'd seen. And having just come off of a Greek-Week-like competition, all of us could easily point out things that happened in the movie that we'd just experienced. It was a lot of fun, and I'd definitely recommend it. It's definitely one of the Pixar movies you appreciate if you're older, like The Incredibles or WALL-E. I'm planning on going back to see it again, with no shame :)

Agree! Can't wait for the movie. My college kids keep getting their photo taken with the Monsters University college ID promo display that's out at the movie theaters now and posting on FB. I think this movie will appeal to young and old.

My question is how many of the kids in the target age for most Pixar movies are used to the idea of different groups representing themselves by different letters/"squiggles" on their chest.

Above is a link to the contest to win various prizes, pledge a sorority or fraternity (I was accepted to Slugma Slugma Kappa!), and play various games. We're fans of the Haunted Mansion game.
