Which pin?
My mother has offered to buy me a new pin for Christmas as mine was lost. I am having difficulty deciding between two of the pins so I figured why not ask strangers for their opinions. :p
Non KDs are welcome to respond as well. I would most likely get it in silver Option A: https://www.hjgreek.com/assets/image...arge/10293.jpg Option B https://www.hjgreek.com/assets/image...arge/10491.jpg |
Those are my two favorites. I lost mine as well a number of years ago, and I replaced it with a pin from the 1920s off of evil bay. But I'd like to replace mine eventually with a new pin with my own information engraved on it.
The top pin with the emerald points was my original pin, and I think I might choose that one again. I really like the alternating emeralds and pearls, but it's almost two polkadot-ish. I can't decide. So my opinion is pretty much useless, haha. |

I recently had chance to view over a dozen styles of pins for my GLO, and the alternating stone-and-pearl styles faded on the wearer. Basic pearl lines with a FEW colored stones showed well on outfits, and the pins were not mistaken for an 'artsy' piece of jewelry. |
I like them both. How about if your mom buys you one and you buy the other one?
|
I saw Option B recently on one of your National officers. I need to upload the picture, btw. Option A just catches my eye more.
|
I prefer option A. I like the simplicity. It was my second choice when I replaced my plain pin. I now have one that is all pearls.

I would go with Option A personally, but that's the pin my grandmother had so I may be a little biased!
|
Option A looks like my Gamma Phi badge...pearls with 4 emerald points. I like both, but I like Option B better. We don't have any alternating stone options, and I've always liked that in other badges.
|
I like A better. I've always preferred badges with colored points rather than alternating colors - mine is pearls with amethyst points!
|
I love option A.
I think that the jewel pattern in A frames the actual badge portion nicely, even enhancing it. Option B, while also lovely from a jewel standpoint, has a pattern that seems to compete with the emblem/enamal part creating more of a "busy" look. |
I really like the alternating stones, so I prefer Option B. Both are gorgeous!
|
My original pin is Option B and, while I love it, I wish I had gotten Option A. Like WaterChild said, the alternating jewels look like Polka dots. It's just too busy.
I really like the accented points. My dream pin would be all emeralds with diamond points. Some day...sigh. |
I love option B. That is my pin and i don't get the polka dots connection but maybe because my pin is so small I don't notice. Back in the day (60's) the hot look was emeralds with diamond points. My mother put her foot down and said "no way".

I'm digging both, but prefer A
|
I too like both, but prefer A just a little bit more. Let us know what you decide!
|
A before B.;)
|
I had my heart set on one like option A until a week before initiation, when I decided to get one like option B. They're both beautiful, but I've never regretted my choice. In my opinion, the alternating emeralds and pearls are a little more eye-catching. What matters, though, is what YOU like best.
On a tangent, my college roommate had all emerald with diamonds in the four corners. Wow, was it beautiful! I think she mentioned several years ago that she lost it. What a shame. |
Is all emeralds with pearl points an option? I think that would be super eye catching

Here's emeralds with pearl points: (Kind of odd angles in this pic.) http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...ps9bae2a70.jpg With diamond points: http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...psadb0c2a7.jpg |
The few most stunning KD badges I've seen must have been older ones. They had lighter green stones.... closer to a dark peridot. I think they were "emerald" points with pearls. I agree that the mostly emerald on yellow gold is too much for me, but I bet it'd be pretty in white gold.
|
Wow! That emerald with the diamond points one is STUNNING!

Beautiful!

Gold tends to not look good with my skin so I will get silver or white gold. I would love to buy a pin, but I am a grad student so maybe later on.
I'm leaning towards A currently. It was my original choice, but I was also drawn towards B because I liked the contrast. |
I prefer silver/white gold, too, but when your sorority is known for the golden key, you kind of have no other option! I envy all of you with jewel and metal choices!
|
I collect KD pins, and in person, they are all beautiful! I do have an emerald with diamond point and it is a stunner. My original badge was emerald with pearl points and I have always loved that combo. Both emerald points and alternating are lovely to wear. Go with the one that catches YOUR eye. Have you seen the white gold pearl with diamond points? Yum. I want.

Pearl with emerald points is such a classic, hard to pass up.

Who knows, it might prompt a reply or new discussion? My daughter is presently trying to choose among the options, and I have pointed her to the pictures, since they are different than those online at the jeweler's.

Perfect time for this thread to be brought back to life! Many girls are choosing their pins right now.
