IPad mini
Does anyone have an IPad mini? Any opinions?

ETA: Just notified that mine will arrive Dec 4th. Yay! |
Ooh, I am glad that it is coming early! We are thinking of getting one for our daughter. She enjoyed using a regular IPad last spring during her internship-the school district where she interned provides them for their teachers. Although she loves the school where she is teaching, that school district does not provide them, but her principal suggested that she get one.....yeah right. First year teacher with student loans should plunk down $500-700 because the principal thinks daughter would benefit.
I anxiously await your opinion. Any other opinions will be appreciated. |
It has the same resolution as an iPad 2 which I already own, but it is tiny. It is super thin and light, which I love. My husband thinks it's dumb since it doesn't have retina display, but for what I use it for, I don't need it. I'm also getting a new MacBook Pro with retina display. My old one is five years old. Still a great computer soft wear wise, but it's starting to make a clicking sound which means the fans about to go out. It was the best laptop I ever owned.

I really want one too, but I'm being advised by my friend, who is a geek for all things Apple, to wait.

Have any of y'all considered a Windows Surface? All of my computers are PCs except for my iPhone 5, which I really like. MysticCat, I'm particularly thinking of using it for lawyer-related stuff and am particularly interested in the surface because of its lightweight keypad. One of the hardest things for me to do is keep in contact with all of my clients and to show up where I'm supposed to be when I'm supposed to be there with all of the information I need to be effective. I'm wondering whether anyone has input on what devices would be helpful there.

Kevin, do you have a Windows Surface?
My daughter has a pc but she has an Iphone. Would there be an advantage to staying with an Apple product? |

You can get keypad covers/cases for the iPad, though when I use a separate keyboard, its the Apple blue tooth one. |

Just a guess, but I think I'd find the iPad less productive if I didn't have an iPhone. It'd still be a great iPad, it just wouldn't be quite as convenient as it is having two devices that can play nicely with one another. |
i'm still on the very first iPad and have been holding out on upgrades. i think i might bite the bullet and go for the mini.
i also have the galaxy tab 7" and don't particularly like it... at first i thought it was the size but now i'm realizing i've probably just been converted to the cult of apple. it would be great to have my existing iPad functionality PLUS everything i've missed in the later releases, in a cute compact size. but i definitely want to hear from people who actually own one. i'll wait :D |
I really only use my iPad to read books, FB, GC and read Huffpost. I'm pretty limited for usage. I kinda hate apps. I might not download any on my new one. :/

I LOVE IT!!! i bought it the day it came out, and I have loved every minute with it. I am a professional student in a healthcare field, and it has to be the best educational purchase I have made yet. I can keep pdf copies of important treatment guidelines, drug info apps, class notes, and e textbooks all in one place. (plus a few movies for when I am bored :D). The size is perfect, and it fits nicely into my coat pocket. The screen resolution does not bother me at all. I only notice a difference if I hold it next to a retina device. It is quickly becoming a replacement for my laptop for many of my computing activities.

I got my mini Friday and LOVE it! It's the perfect size. I can fit it in my purse for travel much easier than my older iPad. It has a couple new features that are great. It is really light weight. I'm very glad I decided to get it.

Saw it. WANT. It's the perfect size, indeed.
Had to exercise much restraint. Theft from a friend is generally frowned upon, huh? Anyway, it's really super cute and so much cooler than the iPad. And I'm not a "mini" fan (there's a long story behind that word, nevermind) but I'm willing to make an exception now. It's all that. |
Thank you all for sharing your experience with the Ipad mini.
