Sigma Delta Tau will select members during informal recruitment. They will be able to report numbers later on in the fall.

Could someone post the dates and information about the two chapters at USC that are doing informal recruitment (or anyone doing COB) to get the word out there to girls that were released from recruitment? I am sure some of those 300+ girls would be interested in hearing about their other options...

Not all of those 300+ girls were released from recruitment. I'd bet money that a good number of that 300+ were girls who dropped out on their own (i.e. I didn't get invited back to the chapters I wanted).

SDT's events! http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m9...royqo1_500.jpg

DeltaBetaBaby 09-06-2012 08:39 AM

You have an event where women get to play with puppies? Oh, man, that would totally do it for me.

dukemama 09-06-2012 08:49 AM

DBB, you read my mind!

KillarneyRose 09-06-2012 09:06 AM

I am a total softie when it comes to puppies. I'd probably go to the event if I were nearby even though I am old and already in a sorority :)

mamagreek 09-06-2012 10:02 AM

Still looking for numbers:

Alpha Chi Omega:
Kappa Kappa Gamma:

(Sigma Delta Tau will know after informal -- GOOD LUCK!!! Looks
like a great schedule and will definitely help visibility on campus!)

And I know I'd show up for the Crepe N' Around Food Truck Fundraiser, even though I'm old and a male. :D

AZTheta 09-06-2012 10:32 AM

Count me in for the Beach Bonfire! Reminds me of retreats at El Cap and Refugio, where we'd fly kites.

Thanks for posting the SDT list, kaeb. Let us know how it goes, if you will.

Point of information for Pearly and anyone else who's reading: to the best of my knowledge, COB and informal recruitment don't typically follow a structure such as that found in Formal Recruitment. Often, events are not advertised, and are "invitation only" to women the chapter is already interested in or who are already well known to some of the chapter members. That's been my experience. Someone else's experience may be different. Repeat:I'm putting this out there as a point of information. That's all.

mamagreek 09-06-2012 11:41 AM

These are not official numbers, but what I've "heard":

Alpha Chi Omega: 56
Kappa Kappa Gamma: 65

If someone has official numbers as of the end of formal recruitment,
please post! I realize these numbers might change after COB.

Mevara 09-06-2012 11:49 AM

I'm sorry, what is the point of this thread? Why could it not be included in the other USC recruitment thread or Irishpipes list?

Perhaps because the other thread was closed. Not sure if it has been reopened yet.

ChioLu 09-06-2012 01:28 PM

Just so it's all in one list: (to be updated with COBs)

Per the Daily Trojan: (thanks to MamaGreek)

Sigma Delta Tau: Bid Day is 9/8

and Alpha Gamma Delta is colonizing Fall 2013

When people come on here for COB party ideas, they need to be directed here. Those are FANTASTIC, really creative ideas, with really good "get to know you" opportunities.

SigKapSweetie 09-06-2012 06:26 PM

The USC KKG facebook page has an album from bid day, and the pictures are ADORABLE. I don't get why collegians keep trying to bring back the fanny pack, but they're clearly having fun in the process!

I think when that is the only way you recruit, you know how to do really do it well!

Pearly 09-06-2012 08:43 PM

@ Always Alpha Gam- that's why I said [some instead of all 300
@ Mamagreek- Where did your daughter pledge? You never told us which house she ended up at!

And WOW!
All the talk about DG not getting very many and NO ONE says anything about Kappa? Can somebody confirm that one?

FSUZeta 09-06-2012 08:48 PM

Kaeb, what a fabulous list of parties. Good luck to you and your sisters!

mamagreek 09-06-2012 09:25 PM

I don't feel comfortable saying which house my daughter pledged, but I am happy to report she is THRILLED!!! And Mamagreek is happy because Babygreek is happy!

The word on the street is that Kappa and DG had the highest returns but were also required to make the biggest releases based on the whole RFM process. At the end of recruitment, that is how it played out and that is the size of their pledge classes. That is NOTHING official and I'm sure no one will ever say whether that's true or false because return rates and release figures are confidential. Apparently, their chapter sizes are still among the biggest on the row notwithstanding their PCs are among the smallest.

IndianaSigKap 09-06-2012 09:52 PM

Those COB events sound like so much fun! The puppies in the park idea is a home run.

If KKG is a more popular sorority, they can most likely easily COB up to quota (with girls who did or didn't go through formal rush). This is what would be called a "teachable moment" where RFM is concerned.

Were all the groups who had numbers over quota at total when rush started, or is that all QAs??

DubaiSis 09-07-2012 12:54 AM

I agree. I think there is a point of diminishing return with RFM and finding the exact point where the cuts go from healthy to harsh is that mystical answer that I'm sure the RFM specialists are always seeking. Sometimes you're gonna miss. I have tried to change my thinking where if a chapter is off by 10%, they didn't fail, it was just an RFM thing, and they'll be able to make up the numbers easily. If they want. Missing by 4 or 5 may not be reason enough to keep up the stress level for another couple weeks, especially if you're still technically at chapter total.

GeorgiaGreek 09-09-2012 11:10 AM

Is there a number yet for SDT?

kaeb 09-09-2012 01:34 PM

We have our largest pledge class since I joined (if not ever, I'm not sure), and we will continue adding to it through COB! :)

I totally agree with you on this. The problem is the other Chapters use it as ammunition to spread the word that you had a bad recruitment because you didn't make quota. Not making quota = not successful recruitment on many campuses.

On my own campus I went up to the office 2 times about our recommended releases into preference only to be told we would be fine. I predicted we would miss quota by 10 and we missed by 9. Did we have a successful recruitment? You bet! the girls and the Advisors could not be happier with the quality of women that we took. I will bet you $100 that there will be groups spreading the word how they did it right and we did it wrong. Happened last year to us too.

On a side note, if our flex list had been longer we probably would have been ok and flex list doesn't hurt any one in the process because they are not taken off or put back on unless you need it.

If memory serves 78+1 for AXO.
